Honestly if you’re reading this save your money and go to the next available location. Manager Kelsey- you should be more nice to your staff and to your customers.

The name of the restaurant was not "Michael's on King". It was "Epicure on King". The menu did not match what was online. Some items were not offered, and the wine list prices were different. Although the service was good, the food was meh.

My wife and I live in Old Town and have enjoyed eating at Michael's on King twice in the past two weeks and both times we had a really nice experience. Besides the great food, the service was exemplary, and the prices were very reasonable. Our first visit was late as we were returning from a flight into Dulles (!) at 2130 hrs and knew many restaurants would be closing soon. We picked Michael's since it was on our way home, just a few blocks from our home, and we hadn't eaten there in a while. As an aside, we find it hard to return to restaurants often because there are so many good choices in our city. Anyway, when we arrived only three tables were eating in the downstairs area, and we were quickly greeted, sat, and ordered immediately since it was late. There were no complaints from our server despite our late arrival. The ambience was old school Italian restaurant, with the audible but not too loud music to match. We were brought fresh bread which we were told was baked at the restaurant, and we were given a spicy olive oil mix to dip our bread into. It was delicious! We ordered drinks, and were quickly brought from the upstairs bar a very tasty Aperol spritz (my “go to” for an Italian cocktail) and a Pinot Noir. The food came out quickly and was hot. I had a delicious lasagne (apparently the owner's grandmother's recipe) and my wife loved her mushroom ravioli. A split tiramisu capped off the evening, and I could tell it was made in house since real coffee soaked the bottom of my dessert. The price was very reasonable, at $130 for two entrees, two drinks, one dessert, and an excessive tip because of our late arrival. Our second visit was only a week or so after because we had a such good time on our first visit. I'm clearly a non-foodie idiot because I had the lasagna once again, but in my defense it was really really good. Once again we had a great meal with even better service. We highly recommend Michael's on King for your future dinner plans.

This was an unexpectedly good meal! We are foodies and didn't know what to expect. But from beginning to end, this place was really wonderful. Our party ordered wine, a martini and an Aperol spritz, all of which arrived promptly and were lovely. The appetizers were tasty and the entrees delicious! Bistecca was a quality cut, tender and perfect medium rare as ordered. Pasta was al dente with a delicious sauce that wasn't overpowering. The chocolate cake dessert was the classic Italian version, dense and intense dark chocolate, not the spongey and sugary American version. If you're looking for authentic and quality Italian, try this place!! It has a small, classic ambiance and the service is spot on—not intrusive but warm and welcoming. We will definitely come back.

During my recent visit to Michael's, I was extremely disappointed by the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards. The experience started poorly and only got worse. Firstly, the restaurant itself was noticeably dirty. The floors and walls around our table were sticky and grimy, which was quite off-putting. The bathrooms were equally unpleasant, exhibiting a lack of regular cleaning and maintenance. To add to the discomfort, I encountered a particularly unpleasant surprise with the salt shaker at our table. When no salt came out, I unscrewed the top and found the rim caked with a gunked-up slime. This level of neglect and lack of basic cleanliness is unacceptable for any establishment, let alone a place where food is served. Unfortunately, the state of the restaurant overshadowed any potential enjoyment of the meal. Cleanliness should be a priority, and Michael's clearly needs to make significant improvements in this area.

It was out 25th anniversary dinner and it was amazing. We can't say enough good things about our server, Feliciano V., he is the quintessential professional. The menu is not very large like you'd find with most Italian restaurants but the food we ordered was fantastic. We started with the fried eggplant w/honey drizzle. My wife ordered the bisteca w/fries and salad. I ordered the lasagna. Both meals were prepared perfectly. The sauce in my lasagna was probably the best I've ever had and we've dined at many, many Italian restaurants. We would definitely make reservations here again when in the area.

Food was very good and the price was very reasonable, especially in this area. The service was fantastic. After dinner went upstairs to cigar bar and enjoyed a couple drinks and the room. It was very nice and relaxing. Bartender was superb.

We came for a birthday party for my fiancé as a group of seven. Some of our dishes were amazing while others had a pretty small portion size which I felt bad about afterwards to my guests. I would very much recommend the restaurant as the food was amazing just depending on what you get as some portions are smaller than others.

First thing that you notice is the smell from the cigar bar upstairs. Not something I enjoy smelling before I am going to eat. The food was ok, however after my table already had a piece of bread, we noticed the the rest of the bread in the basket had mold all over it. Pretty gross. I brought the basket back to the kitchen so none of the other patrons could hear and told the staff. Other than we will get you more bread there was no response. Half way through the meal another server came over and said, “sorry for the bread.” Unfortunately, it ruins the whole experience.

The food is exceptional. The prices are unusually low for the Old Town restaurant area. The service provided by our server Michael was top notch. He's a pro! Finally, visiting the cocktail and smoking lounge on the second floor for after dinner drinks was a real treat. It's tastefully decorated with art deco memorabilia with a special hats off to legendary Frank Sinatra. Overall, it was quite a memorable evening for myself and my guest. Wally W
