Went to express my concerns and they did not do a through check, (didn’t lift it up or anything just diagnosed based off my concerns) automatically said it was my breaks and rotors and it would be $400 to fix, but went to another mechanic and they checked everything and said it had nothing to do with my breaks and rotors. I feel like I was taken advantage because I am a female. Very disappointed! I had high hopes for this establishment.

Really great place, they do good work and have fair pricing as compared to other places. I had a catalytic converter that needed to be put in order to get my emission test to pass. I dropped it off and within a few hours it was done and the car has more pep in its step now! Thank you team at Mount Vernon Auto Clinic!Service: Exhaust

What happened to the shop! I dropped my car off to be fixed for wired noise. I was told the brakes needed to be changed. I paid $437.06 but the sound remains. The shop closed and no one answer the phone or returns messages. I've been using the shop for 2 years with no problems. Does anyone know how to get in contact or know what happened?

I have used Mt Vernon Auto's services several times over the past 2 years. They did a great job replacing the clutch on my vehicle and the price was also reasonable (slightly lower than nearby estimates). However, be prepared to spend slightly more than initial estimates. This first experience was still a 5-star experience because the job was well priced and done well. Next, they replaced a few suspension parts for another vehicle at a good price. The parts were put on well and the car runs much smoother after replacing the ball joints etc. Next I had them replace a few parts PCV valve, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets because my car was misfiring. The car run well for approximately 1-2k miles. The car began to misfire again and I brought it in suspecting that the spark plugs were contaminated with oil, carbon, antifreeze or something. A few days later I receive a call that the motor oil is dark and bad oil could cause an engine misfire. This is absolutely incorrect. Low oil or bad oil will affect a lot of things including engine timing, wear on internal parts, but nearly anyone will agree that engine misfires are a fuel, air, or spark issue. I told the shop to do the oil change and I also told them that it would not correct the issue. I also advised them that the oil in this engine looks very dark after a few thousand miles and the engine burns approx. 1 qt every 2k miles. Early Gasoline Direct Engines (GDI) are known for carbon build up throughout the engine and I suspect this can be part of the reason. 4-5 days went by and I did not hear back from the shop. I called the shop on Thursday (the car was dropped off on monday) and they advised that they will look at it tomorrow morning. I came in and was told that the ignition coils were the culprit (this part sits on top of the spark plugs and was worked on during the previous repair). I declined the work and did not listen to the estimate to replace ignition coils as it seemed high, is easy to replace, and was already worked on by this shop. I was not happy to pay for a $100+ diagnostic fee for a diagnostic that seemed delayed, haphazard, incorrect, and took over 1 week. A few days later I looked at the spark plugs and there was carbon or oil build up on all of the spark plugs (The owner notified me on the day I picked up the vehicle that there was not any build up on the spark plugs). I cleaned the spark plugs and replaced the ignition coils and the vehicle runs Okay. We will never know the true cause of fouling of these plugs after a few thousand miles: ignition coils, more complex engine issue this or if the valve cover gaskets performed on the shop were done correctly. My experience with this shop was fair and because of my very good previous experiences, I did not want to leave a fair review until today. I changed my oil today myself (the previous bill was paid on Dec 21 and oil was changed a few days earlier). The oil drain plug was extremely tight. If it is difficult for me to get it off by hand it is tight and is certainly overtightened. I do not expect shops to follow torque specs on every job but please do not over-tighten oil drain plugs. Sure you may avoid a leak in the short term but in the long run you will destroy customers' threads (replacing oil drain pans are expensive). Next the shop used a filter not designed for any Hyundai vehicle. Full 1-OHD331 =/ 2014 Hyundai Accent. The filter fit well enough not to leak engine oil but I would prefer that this shop use a filter designed for the exact application. With the amount of work and business this shop receives, it is likely Hamed finds local Rt 1 handymen to perform the work. This is likely why the work can be hit or miss and why it took 8-days to do an oil change (wrong oil filter, synthetic oil?) and tell me I needed new ignition coils. I was really hoping I could trust this shop more.

I have a 2001 Highlander. It started vibrating like a helicopter whenever I would stop for even 10 seconds. I was scared to drive my own car. It took a few visits to figure out what was going on, but it was so worth it. Hamad really showed that he cared & wanted to fix my vehicle. It was also nice going here because whenever I go to a Toyota dealer to get my Highlander fixed, they always try to sell me a car. But since this isn't a dealer, it felt pretty nice for a change. Excellent local place...support local! Thank you for saving my Katy Baby.

They charged me for work they didn’t even do…. Went in to get my tire patched. They said they didn’t find any leaks. Put the tire back on and then proceeded to say it was $20. I told them “my tires still going to be flat. You didn’t do anything” and he said “we still did our job” NO YOU DIDNT BECAUSE THEN MY TIRE WOULD BE FIXED…. Don’t go here.

Mount Vernon Auto is slowly becoming my go-to shop. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and seem to have the client's best interest at heart. A few months ago, they helped me out when I had a car emergency and needed to get repairs done before going on a long trip. Their responsiveness and constant communication during the emergency helped me feel at ease and I was able to get back on the road quickly. Today, they were able to fit me in with an A/C issue. Super quick. 100% affordable. Everyone was nice.
