Despite it being in Kingstowne, where you feel like it's a good neighborhood, I constantly regret coming to this Safeway location because I usually run into at least 1 angry customer that looks unstable, hostile, and will yell at me for no reason while I'm just minding my own business but the employees here just act like they don't hear it. Don't come here and don't bring your kids! I have my own opinion about the grocery quality as well... but forget it! You should feel safe grocery shopping and this place just isn't for me anymore.

My local go to safeway. Shortage of staff is noticeable at times causing backed up checkout lines and limited help when you need assistance, But overall a good store.

Don’t bother with delivery, you won’t get your groceries. They’ll cancel your order 45+ minutes AFTER the expected delivery time with no reason or explanation. I understand we’re human, but this happens every other time I order. If you on the off chance do receive your food, it’ll either be expired or they’ll replace it with unrelated items.

I used to come to this Safeway regularly but after having many bad experiences with the meat department, I now go to Giants unless I am having a vegetarian night. The meat in the packages at Safeway are often expired or look straight up nasty. I'm talking about pork chops that have turned green, steaks with brown spots, leaky chicken packages, and ground meat that smells like vinegar. I've had to make trips to Giants after coming here and leaving empty handed because none of the meat looked palatable. I've also had to throw away meat I bought here because even though they were within expiration and looked okay, there was a terrible stench when I opened the package at home. I noticed Safeway now offer these "Ready to Cook" meals which is basically a marinated and prepared meat dish (such as meatloaf, marinated chicken breasts) that you can just pop in the oven without preparation. Prices are good and I was really tempted to get them to save time on cooking, but then I remembered how bad the meat is at this supermarket and realized it wouldn't be wise. The produce department also has a lot of old, spotty, wrinkly and moldy fruits and veggies. Giants is slightly better in this regard. That being said, I still go to this Safeway to buy non perishables. I've always enjoyed Safeway's O Organics line and this store has lots of that in stock.

Very clean store but more of their items are sitting on the shelves expired. They always have a good selection of future and vegetables. Prices are little too high, especially with Aldi right across the street.

This Safeway is ginormous! Much bigger Safeway that I have in my district. It's clean, stocked well, and produce is plentiful and fresh. The bakery section is unbelievable.

It was my favorite grocery store when i lived in the area. Still looks clean and orderly, but no shade in the parking lot.

Another Safeway much like all the other Safeways. This one has very easily accessible parking.

I shop at Safeway every week. Last night I was near the bread and I saw 2 huge roaches. For some reason I didn’t immediately leave. I walked through the wine section and I found 4 more. Then at the beer section I found one smashed up onto the cooler and another right in the middle of the aisle. Within the first 10 minutes of being there I saw over 10 roaches. I had to leave. I showed the manager and she did not act surprised. I appreciate the customer service I receive from the employees here, but I will not be back any time soon.

We began shopping at the Safeway on Richmond Highway (now closed) and decided to visit the Safeway on Van Dorn in Alexandria. The Van Dorn Safeway was clean and well stocked. Of course the COVIF-19 quasi-pandemic reeked its havoc on all businesses. Since March of 2022, we shop at the Giant supermarket in the same center as the Van Dorn Safeway.

Typical Safeway. They had most of the things I went there for. Their seafood was really sad and usually smells so bad you can smell it entering the store (not only this location). That's been pretty much the case around the DC area since before the pandemic. IDK what their sources are but they need better. Have given feedback many times but nothing changes. I only go when things I want are on sale. Their everyday prices and even "personalized prices" leave much to be desired. Example: 30.6 ounce Maxwell House coffee was $8.99 for weeks. Last week, my "personalized price" was $11.49. this week it's back to $8.99. They do the same thing with bacon and other items.Shop the weekly circulars for all the convenient stores in your area. You'll get much better prices
