ABSOLUTELY WORST BANK IN AMERICA, THEY SCREW UP YOUR MONTHLY PAYMENTS, OVERDRAFT YOUR ACCOUNT TWICE THE MONTHLY PAYMENT. THIS INSTITUTION NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND WHOEVER IS RUNNING THIS COMPANY DESERVES TO BE IN JAIL FOR SCAMING AND TAKING MONEY FROM HARD WORKING PEOPLE STRUGGLING TO SURVIVE. THIS BANK TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR PAYMENTS ON OCTOBER 5th and NOVEMBER 5th WHEN MY PAYMENTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR THE 10th ANS ITS ON EVERY STATEMENT. THE STAFF PLAY A LOT OF GAMES AND MISTREAT and MISINFORM CUSTOMERS TO THE POINT WHERE THEY ARE TRYING TO HAVE ME COMIT BANK FRAUD AND BLANE IT ON ME. I wish 0 stars was a possible rating. The most incompetent, scamming institution I’ve ever encountered in a professional setting. The President or CEO of the institution should be ashamed and the employees must not have much of a conscious to be able to work at a place like this and treat people the way they do. Stay far away if you haven’t already been trapped.

Literally the worst bank customer service ever! I called to get a replacement debit card and the stupid customer service representative didn't even do it! Had me wait 2 weeks for nothing. When you call them, the customer representatives don't even know what they're doing and would continue to transfer you to other customer service representatives with no help! DO NOT OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT HERE! Terrible service!

I understand security, but the way they do it, they won’t even give me access to MY OWN money. The turnover rate makes me think the customer facing staff are poorly paid and likely abused by those higher in the hierarchy.

Stop blocking my card! Stupid credit card fraud triggers twice a week and they dont do anything to correct it. Wasnt an issue for the first year I had the card but now im having to call every week about a fraud alert.Changed my rating as they have added a text alert feature to acknowledge i did the transaction. This is much better now and im a happy customer again.

You DO NOT control your OWN money with State Dept FCU this bank is absolutely terrible they control which purchases get declined or not. When I go out of town my card declines for no reason, even around my neighborhood it declines my purchases at 7eleven (has anyone else experienced this?)For ZELLE if you try to send to a new recipient it places your zelle on hold where you cant send any money!! Oh and then you have to call and speak to a special agent over hours customer service cant remove the hold I just now has been waiting for 50min for a person to answer!I have been slacking on switching bank JUST beca of the hassle of having to switch my direct deposit with my employer but im SWITCHING banks soon such a TERRIBLE bank

I have been a member since I graduated college in 1997. My Army veteran father has been with them for many years after working at the Pentagon. SDFCU has been an outstanding financial institution to our family. Every service I've ever needed from their educational scholarship to my current mortgage has been approved by this credit union. After seeing the shocking 2 star ratings, I felt compelled to share MY experience. Thank you to SDFCU for being my favorite banking institution. I'm proud to be a customer you have never disappointed me.

Hyperactive fraud alert system and really poor customer service. I've nowcalled six different times to confirm a purchase I tried to make two days ago and my card still has not been unblocked. That's over two hours of my day that I could have spent doing something worth while.

Utter incompetent service. They opened accounts that I did not ask for. They sent my debit card to the wrong address. They are never open outside of state department work hours so when could customers go there? Avoid this financial institution like the plague, seriously terrible

Don’t do it!!!!!!! I have been a member of this credit union for over 18yrs and within the last 2-3yrs the service and competency has drastically declined. I had my direct deposit rerouted to a much more stable and reliable credit Union account because for some reason this scammy a** credit Union kept withdrawing funds randomly, causing overdrafts to accounts and then mysteriously redepositing the money whenever they finished whatever scam they’re enacting. I closed my secured credit card (a credit card funded by my own funds) and they reported it to the credit bureaus as a charge off. I tried several times to rectify the situation and every time I called the rep that left me a message I would be put on hold and the call essentially disconnected EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST INSTITUTION EVER!1 star is too high. I've been with them for only 6 months with an auto loan and have had an issue making my payment every month! They are absolutely incompetent!!! THEY MESSED UP MY CREDIT WITH BAD REPORTING because their system was inaccurate - which literally stopped me from starting a business and advancing my life!!!! I effeing hate those people and this institution!

Pros: The SDFCU Premium Cash Back+ Visa Signature credit card is probably the best 2% back, no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee credit card in the game.Cons: Everything else. I keep $0 in my SDCFU accounts and only have an account for the Premium Cash Back+ card. All of the banking software (websites/apps) are atrocious and borderline unusable. The customer service is terrible. The credit union lacks basic features that pretty much every other bank/credit card provider offers.For example, I changed all of my other credit card bill due dates to the 28th of the month, to make managing my finances more convenient. My Premium Cash Back+ bill is due on the 15th, so I called SDFCU to get the due date changed to the 28th to match all my other cards. SDFCU straight up just doesn't offer the ability to change your credit card bill due date, so I'm stuck with the 15th for eternity.The Premium Cash Back+ benefits are great but everything else is so awful that I may end up closing that card and getting rid of my SDFCU account completely.

I wish I could give less than one star. Had to speak to over 5 people over 2 days time to help release a profile hold online. It's been over 2 hours on the phone and the representatives would cut me off and just rude. When you give good customer service for your job you understand how to talk to people and this just wasn't it. They need a call center etiquette training or something because the service is lacking.

I've been with this credit union a very long time and the level of service that I received today was terrible! The virtual assistant phone system is beyond terrible. I've spent well over 1.50 hours on hold and the call dropped only to have to call back and be left on hold again. I know management has to know about the horrible level of service. Financial access is important to customers and the callous manner in which this credit union is being managed has to be reported to an outside agency! My issue was never resolved so my time was wasted!
