I believe that a great nail salon isn’t just about skill with nail art or product application—it’s also about clear communication and understanding the customer’s needs. It’s important to have staff who not only know the different nail products and services available but can also communicate effectively in English to ensure the customer’s vision is understood.
If there’s EVER uncertainty about what a client is asking for, I think it’s essential to pause and ask for clarification or request a translation so the message is conveyed accurately.
Even if I was using the wrong name for the service, I repeatedly said I needed a refill and even explained the process of how it had been done before. That alone should have prompted questions to confirm the exact service I needed. I’m not a nail expert — as a customer, I rely 100% on the nail technician’s expertise, just like I wouldn’t expect them to know the ins and outs of the medical field.
In my visit, although the issue was eventually corrected, my nails were cut shorter than I wanted and extra time was spent on unnecessary removals. Not to mention, the quality of the work was not great — which I can only attribute to the technician being upset with me. The nails look bulky and misshapen. This all could have been avoided with clearer communication from the start. Clear communication, combined with technical skill and professionalism, is what makes for a truly positive salon experience.

Jay is that nail tech!
I came in last Saturday with a few inspo pics and a color scheme—no real plan—and Jay took it and ran with it. Her creativity blew me away, and every nail turned out perfect.
Tried Gel-X for the first time and I’m obsessed. Lightweight, flawless, and I’m never going back to acrylic. Jay nailed it—literally. 💅

Nice nails. Haven’t seen a bad nail tech in there yet. Be prepared to spend a minimum of approximately $100 on just the bare minimum basics. If you want anything more than the basics, be prepared to spend $150-$200 (without tip) on a set of nails. I genuinely don’t even enjoy getting my nails done anymore.

I have been coming to Sunshine nails for going on 6 years now and I will not being going anywhere else. Every artist in there is talented. My artist is Luvee but when she is unavailable I can always count on someone in the shop to give the same customer and nail service. Donny, jojo, Vicki, Lily just to name a few have all been the best!. The nail technicians demonstrate a high level of skill and artistry in every service. Whether it's a classic manicure, intricate nail art, or a relaxing pedicure, their attention to detail is truly remarkable.Everyone is so welcoming and I have sent my friends and coworkers to sunshine nails and even some of my neighbors. I like the way they use their social media platform to show their business. Lets everyone see the artists skills. The shop is always decorated with a theme or holiday and the staff dress up as well. It brings positive energy to the customers and brings life into the salon.The customer servicer is top tier. The receptionist always updates you on the time of your appointment and if your tech is not available she makes sure to schedule you with someone else right away. The pedicure service is top tier as well. You walk out of there and it feels like your walking on clouds. Sue gets me right everytime.They take care of you.The salon maintains impeccable standards of cleanliness and hygiene. I have always felt confident in their commitment to providing a safe and sanitary environment. They are the bomb.i have NEVER walked out of that salon disappointed and the quality of work shows.The DMV area boasts many nail salons, but SUNSHINE NAILS consistently stands out for its commitment to quality, professionalism, and customer care. I genuinely believe they deserve recognition as one of the top nail salons in the region.

I had a wonderful experience at Sunshine Nail Spa! Vicky did my nails and she was amazing — super friendly, detail-oriented, and really took her time to make sure everything looked perfect. The salon was clean, relaxing, and had a great vibe overall. I left feeling so happy with how my nails turned out. Highly recommend Vicky if you’re looking for top-notch service!

I came from Germany to Virginia to visit my grandchildren. I've visited the nail salon twice already and I was very happy to interact with the staff there. They are very creative in the nail industry and do beautiful work. I hope I will have the opportunity to visit again to get a beautiful manicure and receive good service.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt like I had to say something after my experience here. I got my nails done by Lynn, and unfortunately, I was really disappointed. The shape was completely off and not straight at all. On top of that, the chrome design started coming off the very next day — clearly not done properly.
When I brought it up, the owner didn’t seem to care and refused to do anything about it. What really frustrated me was that they never communicated the pricing beforehand, and I was hit with a shockingly high bill at the end for a tiny design. I felt blindsided. Definitely not coming back — poor quality and even worse customer service.

I’ve been going to sunshine nails for a little over two years and have loved my experience every time. They do EXCELLENT WORK on both nails and feet. Have had my nails done by Vicky and Will…lots of compliments all the time.
I’ve been getting my nails done since I was about 18 and I’m 38 now and Sunshine literally outSHINES any other nail salon I’ve been to
I have not experienced the lash services yet but, the videos they post on Instagram have me very curious to see what they would look like on me.
