Beautiful vintage cocktail ware, wonderful selection for "Nick & Nora" cocktail fans. I haven't found a better store anywhere for this!

Have tried to go here maybe 10 times and it is NEVER open. I work up the street and walk by multiple times a week and the sign on the door is always CLOSED

Incredible selection, beautiful shop. Over the years it has been one of my favorite places to find new pieces for my collection or to give as gifts.Sadly, one must make an appt in advance to shop there and when calling you will be discouraged from making an appt.Apparently, unless picking up an order, they aren't welcoming a visit. Frustrating, as I had planned to buy a flask set (over $300) as a gift and am being told to instead buy online. If that's the case, I can buy pretty much any flask set from any reputable antique barware site and there's no advantage to choosing The Hour.Doubly frustrating to come from the west coast and get excited about picking something in person and get turned away. The last few visits to VA, calls for an appt weren't returned (pre-covid), so at least I got a call back this time. Hard to understand the point, though, as I was essentially told that I wouldn't be getting an appt if I didn't want to buy online/pick up in person. Why have a storefront if this is simply an online business that doesn't want physical customers anymore? Was looking forward to popping in with my best friend to get an opinion on a few things, wanted to physically look at the antique items I was considering. For glassware of this era that often has appliques, visual inspection is key. I love the pitcher & glass set I bought the last time they welcomed in-person customers, as I could verify that it was in perfect condition and I could also rely on myself to pack/package it vs trust shipping. With a one/few-of-a-kind set that you can't find replacements for, this is a huge benefit for the customer.Flasks are also one of those things -- sometimes it's character that enhances the piece, sometimes it's just unwanted damage. I'm experienced buying online but even with the best photos it's easy to get surprised. The store doesn't accept returns for online orders, so if I find unexpected damage or a flask that isn't watertight, there's no recourse. All that said, it's a beautiful place, good selection. If you're in the area and have time to call ahead, maybe your luck will be different than mine. They were at least nice about telling me that I couldn't come in.

I drove up from Norfolk with high hopes to visit this store and add to my collection but was surprised to see it was closed. The sign referred customers to their website. Store personnel were inside and appeared to be in a bad mood. If they were just closed for lunch or their website indicated accurate store hours or if they had just smiled, then no problem. But, all is not lost as I have many more things on my list to accomplish.

This is a great shop! They carry a wide range of vintage cocktail glassware and accoutrements. It's fun to browse for your own collection or for gifts. I highly recommend The Hour Shop!

Very poor customer service. Was walking by, had a mask on and wanted to ask a few questions. Wouldn’t even open the door although I would have been a potential customer. If this is your business model, good luck with getting anyone. Please avoid this business.

A secret treat in Old Town.

Seriously overpriced place! I would never bother with this place. Many items are grossly misidentified as rare European items. They will not reply to inquiries. This is deliberate and deceitful.

I live in Old Town, and I like browsing in The Hour---I love the "Mad Men" vibe it has going on. That said, I believe the merchandise is way over priced and the strict no returns/exchanges policy makes it very difficult to support the "shop small" movement and even more difficult to purchase a gift for anyone for any reason. (Example, I purchased a set of sipping glasses two days ago as an anniversary gift. Recipient unwrapped only one of the seven glasses to discover she received a similar gift. When I asked if they would make an exception for an exchange for a tray I saw in the shop, the clerk said no.) Shoppers, you can almost always find similar items online or in other shops where the return/exchange policy is more favorable. I won't ever shop there again, and I will spread the word. #youlostagoodcustomer
