I enjoy this family owned local business. The people are ALWAYS friendly. I check here before wasting my time at the bigger box stores

Wish every neighborhood had a hardware store like this one. They had fox farm ocean mist soil in stock. And reasonably priced.

About three years ago I had the pleasure of meeting a kind gentleman who worked in the downstairs grilling area of the store. We chatted a bit and I eventually purchased a grill. One of my first jobs as a youth was working at a local hardware store. So seeing all of the familiar odds and ends made me feel a bit nostalgic. I always have supported local business and took it as a sense of local pride that my phone number is among those listed as a frequent customer. So if you want to support local business that supports it's local community, this is the place to go. So.... why not 5 stars then? (Warning: Reading and Feelings Involved. They are a great shop with great staff in the following has no bearing on how I feel about their services, competency, or policies) Well, as someone who has worked retail, and works in the business world, I am a fan of communication and the appearance of customer service, even if you're telling the customer something that they do not like. I was in the market for some fire starters as I am taking my younger kids on a camping trip. I happened to arrive at 5:59. The store closes at 6:00. As I approached, I noticed that the door inside was being unlocked to let out two people, then the door was locked behind them. The store closes at 6:00. I attempted to make eye contact with the individual locking the door but failed at that. Another gentleman from inside walked past the front door and I said "Oh, I was late, sorry." and he made no eye contact, or didn't hear me, or knew they were closed.... something. But that interaction, or lack thereof made me feel as though I was encroaching on their time. Which I might have been. But from a customer service standpoint, and from my perspective, I would have appreciated a "Sorry, we are closed" verbally. They didn't have to do that, but it would have been nice. I think I've seen maybe one too many movie where someone goes to a place for assistance, and the townsfolk obviously lock the door. They don't know if I was going to say I left my car keys there or whatever. It just didn't feel right at the time. Long story short. Great store. I found what I needed at the grocery store, but I wanted to spend my money with them. Oh well. No love lost.

Great experience! Stores closer to me, both big box and hardware, did not have the exact model I wanted but Village Hardware did. It was waiting for me on their loading dock when arrived. I went inside the store anyway to see if they had some accessories I wanted and they had EVERYTHING, a great grill department. And the rest of the store was amazing as well, just like those complete hardware stores of times past that have everything you can’t find anywhere else. I am looking forward to an excuse to make the drive back to visit again next time I need something beyond everyday basic.

Friendly and attentive staff. I found what I needed that I couldn’t find in big box stores, while price factor remained affordable. Really cool.

This is a very well-stocked and -staffed store. It had all the things we were looking for (planting soil and keys) and some we didn't (slingshot replacement bands? My husband was thrilled. (:duck:) ).

Village Hardware is a local standard; a true hardware store. Plus, they are an authorized dealer for Stihl, Weber, Benjamin Moore and much more

Been coming to this store for just short of a decade. Very helpful and knowledgeable folks that will help you find what you are looking for and/or talk through your do-it-yourself weekend projects. A great store for our community. As some have mentioned it did change ownership a year or so ago, but that is the cycle of things and the new ownership team works to keep the store's traditions. Like everything in life not every experience there is perfect but those are the exceptions not the rule. Glad we have them!

Place has gone extremely downgill since being sold. This is NOT the family business of 2 years ago. They used to have tons of kids who all knew where everything was and the place was always packed with people shooting the breeze and being helpful. No one in there much. While they still have a lot of stuff, the soul has been sucked out of the store. Very sad.

Although I didn't find what I needed (spigot and valves for plumbing in a 1937 built house ?) I found this to be a well stocked hardware store with knowledgeable and very helpful staff. Nice to still see "small town" local hardware stores such as this. Prices were reasonable for the area and it's packed with just about everything. Will go back.
