I'm not one to take photos of cemeteries, but this one was awesome. There are thousands of crosses, hence the dimension of how many people died. Only in Normandy have I seen so many tombs. (I didn't take a photo there)

The National Cemetery is one of the cleanest, best, calm, neat, spacious, very strict, magnanimous ones situated in New York. There is a free special bus to systematically visit inside the Cemetery since it covers a vast area. There is absolute uniformity for the burial of the departed persons be it President, Vietnam heros, common person of remembrance etc. Very disciplined like military persons standing in strict rows, the place gives names, year, and important events of death etc. Even ex Presidents are buried with equal respect like war martyrs. Other countries also have similar ones but this is topping the list. In Chennai, before reaching city borders near a Deaf & Dumb school a similar martyrs Cemetery exists so also in Vellore, Tamil Nadu in the heart of city Britishers used to bury the departed. A good example of remembering our elders, historians, preservation of the past may be the motive. Dr.K.V.Murali

They offer tours and a hop on and hop off vehicle that you can tour around the cemetery. It comes about every 15 minutes to each drop off/pick up location.

All gave some, some gave all. At least once in a lifetime visit. This is United States military cemetery for the honored service members that have valiantly service our country. It was my honor to visit and it’s awe inspiring. All the men and women that fought for our freedoms. The operation is very organized and staffed with great people. The changing of the guard is a memorable experience. Great place to take your family.

Are you going to tear down the Lee Mansion too? ? Leave the statue where it is, Arlington! Show some respect for the dead.

A beautiful place to visit with over 400,000 tombs for mostly American veterans and soldiers, but there are also a few presidents, Supreme Court Justices, and James Parks, the first keeper of the grounds. It is rather hilly and possible to walk, but there is also the option to pay $20 (adult price) for a trolley tour (the trolleys are covered on rainy days) around the cemetery with 3 hop-on, hop-off destinations at the Kennedy Grave, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Lee-Custis Mansion (known for the panoramic view). These buses run every 15 minutes. The changing of the guard occurs at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is a delight to watch and occurs on the top of the hour during off-seasons (winter) and every half hour during the summers. There is a nice visitor center with a security check at the gate. One can buy trolley tickets there and also read more history and use the very nice restrooms. To get here, one can drive and park in the lot for ~$3/hour or take the Blue line to the Arlington Cemetery stop.

Arlington National Cemetery is a powerful place.I am proud of my father who rests here now after living an incredible life.Mom's ashes were placed in the ground with my father's ashes a couple of days ago with those who loved her attending. The staff of ANC are loving, respectful and peaceful humans. If you go on a tour in of Arlington National Cemetery, perhaps you will feel the incredible power of this place. This experience is one of those which creates a positive feeling of being an American.Five stars. Go for a walk there in silence.

It's always difficult to please everyone in this place. It is a very representative place with a lot of history. There are those who should be there and it is complicated after so many wars. The effort that has been made to maintain this cemetery is impressive and tribute must be paid to all present and absent who have made a great country
