Well, that didn't last long. For over a week, one of the two pair of 15-lb dumbbells has been missing from the main dumbbell rack. Is it across the gym in the "other" rack of dumbbells (cardio area)? Did someone walk out with them? Who knows!

Coming from the Reston Onelife (which I would give a 5 star review on), my experience has been mixed but overall negative:Pro's:- very nice location- great views from the cardio room- staff are mostly friendly- Locker rooms are spacious and clean- Large calisthenics area- 5-6 power lifting stations with bumper plates.Con's:- Organization. I put 80% of this on the members but the plates are never organized - you'll often find a 25 lb plate in front of a 5 lb plate in front of a 45 lb plate. Again, I put this mostly on the members but it would be nice if there were more notices telling members it's proper etiquette to put the plates back in the right spots along with periodic organization by the staff. There's also a limited number of plates. I've often had to walk across the gym to find a set of 5 lb or 10 lb plates. Posted picture shows disorganized weights around 5 am, right after the gym opens.- Overcrowding. If you go between 5 and 7 pm on a weekday, good luck using any of the equipment. Before 7 am and probably after 7 pm are really the only useable times of day. Not a huge issue for me being an early bird but I'd still like to have more flexibility.- Consistent operating hours. There's been a few occasions now where the gym doesn't open until 5 or more minutes past the operating hours. As I right this review, it's 725 am on a Saturday and no one is even inside the building.- Parking. I typically go right at 5 am when the gym opens. I can usually find street parking which is free before 8 am and on weekends but if I go later in the day or if there's no street parking it's $1.35 ($1 plus a $0.35 "service charge"), even if it's less than an hour. Not a huge deal but if you're going later in the day and plan to get there by car, you're effectively adding $27 a month to the membership assuming you go 5 days a week.- Equipment. There's a wide variety of machines but some equipment is noticeably absent. For example, the Hammerstrength machines aren't a full set. It's understandable though with the limited space they have to work with

I've been a member of OneLife for about a year and it's fantastic. They have a huge variety of classes and they are terrific. I especially love Body Attack with Jodi. The facilities are clean and the staff are always friendly. A great gym

The gym is pretty solid for the price, with a good amount of equipment and decently clean . the men's steam room is down a lot but other than that a good gym.

My time at Onelife has been very disappointing. The sauna is always out of order. This was the main reason I joined the gym and I haven't been able to use it at all. The overcrowding at the gym has become a significant problem. The hygiene in the steam room is another notable concern. Clumps of hair in the steam room are not only unappetizing but also raise questions about the cleanliness and maintenance standards of the facility.OneLife Fitness also enforces a strict 12-month binding contract. The refusal to allow members out of their contracts, unless they move 25 miles away from a OneLife facility, seems excessively restrictive. Life circumstances change, and members should have reasonable options to adjust their commitments accordingly, especially for a gym that is not living up to their end of the contract.

All of the staff at the Ballston location have been wonderful so far. Joanna was nice enough to explain the membership options to me and was kind enough to answer all my questions. But the main reason why I am writing this email is to express how grateful I am to have worked with Elizabeth this afternoon. She is professional , respectful, wise and personable. I’ve been to many gyms and worked with multiple personal trainers but this experience was different. She took the time to thoroughly explain my body scan, my goals and the four steps of health. I felt like she “heard” me when I told her my concerns about my health. The other trainers I’ve worked with made it seem like they were reading from a script but Elizabeth was genuine with everything she said. I am excited to work with her on achieving my goals for this upcoming year. She is fantastic at what she does and has the energy to match it. #beboppinginasize10

I love this gym! It's spacious, and even at its busiest hours you can find something to do/use. I can't complain about the equipment -- it has just about everything you might want. There isn't a track for running, but there's tons of cardio machines. There isn't a basketball gym, but there is a gym that classes are hosted in, and you can use it when there isn't a class going on. The classes are great and it's relatively easy to register for them, and they're all free for members. You can bring guests to classes with you but I think you have to pay the $10 guest fee (yes, you have to pay a guest fee even if you're on the premium membership). The main downside is the hours. On Saturday and Sunday the gym closes at 7pm and 6pm respectively. I'm not sure why, as the mall it is located inside is open very late. I assume they don't have the funding or staff to be open later. It's a real bummer, because for me on the weekends I like to get everything else done before the gym, but with Onelife I have to work my entire day around my gym session. I go around 4pm so I can get at least 2 hours in before closing, but it's such an inconvenient time to be working out! If you're someone who likes to have full freedom of when you go to the gym, you should really consider whether or not this is the best option for you. My favorite time to go to Onelife is between 10am-2pm on a weekday. That's the sweet spot!

If you’re looking to sign-up to OneLife Ballston, with the sauna being one of your top selling items, this is not the place! It takes a 30 minute seating to start sweating. Concerns have been brought to the attention of the staff about this, but nothing has been done. It’s not the staffs fault though, it’s possible the owner of this location may be thrifty. Onelife needs a better sauna system because it’s definitely not hot enough and because of that, you’re forced into being in the Sauna with 10 people at a time, for much longer periods than you’d ever want to. Many have discussed that they travel to other locations just because of this issue and that’s unfair, to say the least. If you’re on a time constraint, love the sauna to sweat out toxins, but also don’t like being in small spaces for long periods of time, this isn’t the place for you. The other locations have better saunas for sure, which raise the question to why we do not. ?? If anything changes, I’ll update this review.

Definitely one of the best gyms for the price in the area. I like the number of flat benches and the addition of a new power rack recently. It's definitely crowded during the peak hours but that's every gym, and I think they have maximized their space as much as they can. The staff are friendly and I can usually get most of my workout done without waiting or detouring too much. The only thing I wish was for a few more benches in the free weight section since it gets hard to work in, or adding a couple more machines that people want to use. One fly machine is roooough

A little pricey but worth it. Clean, high level of customer service, very good trainers. Exceptional choice of cardio and resistance equipment. Lot's of choices of free classes including Pilates, Yoga and aerobic. The location in Balston shopping center has parking for $1 for three hours

I was a member of this gym for many years before moving to FL. On my many trips back to Arlington I workout at this gym as a guest former member. The young man at the front desk by the name of Habib who checked me in on a Saturday morning deserves recognition for being friendly, professional and welcoming, qualities that are rare these days. Great hire OneLife!

Excellent fitness center located centrally in Ballston, equipped with all the essential machines and tools. However, be prepared for some wait time to use the equipment during busy hours from Monday to Friday, 5-7 pm. Apart from this minor inconvenience, it offers superb value for money.

Update: They charged my credit card again without my permission. The gym is good but their system of personal training is not client friendly. My trainer marked sessions done while he was late multiple times and gym is taking his side even though I sent screenshots of text messages as a proof of missed sessions. I tried to talk nicely to the trainer first but as his tardiness continued, I tried to talk to the management but it is not working. I lost few hundred dollar in this process and the stress I had to deal through is in addition. My recommendation, sign up for the gym but if you sign up for personal training sessions, maintain your own log and ask for email of cancellation and reschedule every time or you can lose money too as their system is personal trainer friendly and not client friendly.

Always a great place for a workout. The class instructors are so encouraging and really makes you want to come to class and workout. The gym is definitely very packed, to the point of having to wait for machines or free weights at times 5:30-7-7:30pm daily, but it bearable. A swimming pool and jacuzzi would be a great addition.

Used to go to golds and gave this place a shot, really clean and nice facility. Joana was the sales rep that gave me the tour, she went on about how she used to work at golds and how she didn’t agree with what their members had to go through in order to cancel memberships. Six months into my membership here. I told Joana that I have moved due to working out in Loudoun, I mentioned to her you probably haven’t seen me in a month due to my job being 45 min away. Because of the lack of convince I would need to cancel. Her reply was well you committed to 12 months, i replied well you told me if I moved I would no longer be responsible for a cancelation fee. That’s when she notified me it had to be more than 25 miles away. If I were to cancel it would cost me three times a monthly fee. The irony is it was Joana who told me about golds making it difficult to cancel, by the way golds allowed me to terminate my membership no questions asked no cancellation fee in order to come to one lifeLastly the steam room and sauna are always out of service.
