Customer Service is appalling. I have been trying to close my account for weeks now and they keep throwing up roadblocks and asking for various documents without explaining why they are needed. They contradict themselves and refuse to answer straightforward questions. I have complaints pending with state and federal agencies as well as BBB. Also, when I did a wire transfer last year it took hours and hours and multiple conversations because of their incompetence. They acted like they'd never done a wire transfer before. Other banks have way better interest rates anyway. There is no good reason to choose Etrade.

Choose Etrade if you just want an OK experience. I have been a customer for over 20 years. The customer service is getting very inconsistent and mediocre. They are generally unhelpful. The website slows down during active markets so be careful if you are an active trader. When I have tried to connect with the tech department they just blame me and my own technology and do not take the time or have the sophistication to try to help with the problems. If you just want an OK experience choose Etrade.

customer service is terrible, they've been blocking my money for months saying it's different from the IRS, I've already sent all my documents, filled out the requested forms, sent w9 and so far I haven't had a solution, they ask to call customer service and put us on hold for more than 2 hours, there is no chat, email or any other form of contact, run away!

Spending hours on hold (in 30 minute and 60 minute attempted calls) trying to get through to a human being to unlock an account. Eventually reached someone in a branch office but they indicate that they can't communicate with the necessary department. Will seek out a physical address to send via USPS what should be a simple service request. eTrade if you see this consider it an "SOS message in a bottle".

After complaining for months about excess of two hour hold times, I have been in the process of transferring to another broker, however E*TRADE has blocked me every step of the way. Transfer continues to be canceled by Etrade. I sure hate to waste my time filing SEC complaint but I’m almost there. Horrible service

I have been a customer for over 20 years. Lately, the Company has not been a good business to deal with. They have been untruthful, sloppy, rude and unresponsive. The site continues to be slow and alerts, quotes etc. have not been working properly. I would advise anyone looking around for an online broker to look elsewhere. I will be.

E*TRADE bank could not be bothered to correct their address listing in Arlington Virginia. I showed up to make a deposit only to be greeted by an extremely crusty and rude person in the lobby informing me there’s no longer a teller there.

One of the worst customer service when called the never answer.I was on the phone more than 3 hour nobody answered the call. When I try to reach online chat customer support my waiting time 178 minutes for next help online.

I was an etrade customer. If you ever have to talk to a live person you might as well pack a lunch. You can not talk to anyone unless you wait on hold for an hour plus. Their chat is an hour and a half wait minimum....They send you messages to call the, about your account - instead of sending the info via message they want you to call them and wait, wait, wait. It is 2021 and they don't even have the option to get a call back when it's your turn. If you get to someone and they can not help you, expect another hour or so wait...Over an hour right now on a Saturday night when the market is closed and they should have very little phone volume. The absolute most frustrating company I have ever dealt with.....I really don't understand how they are even in business?????

I honestly 1 star is beyond generous. This company held on to my funds and claimed that they needed to verify the security check by making you call a 1800 number. No one picks up, the live chat has a 236 minute wait and when you call the local branch no one picks up. I called a branch in another county and was told in a condescending tone that I needed to call the1800 number. You’re literally going around in circles. This is the worst company yet. Do not invest or open ANY accounts with them.

This is the worst, most dishonest company ever. I authorized a one time funding transfer and they tried to double it. Luckily I caught them in time and put a stop payment on with my bank but they tried repeatedly. ETrade completely inaccessible. No customer support available at all. No way to close the account. Just horrible.

Straight up...HORRIBLE!!! I have a brokerage account and made the mistake of getting their Max checking account. The ABSOLUTE WORST!!! Customer service is non existent. Whether you try to get help over the phone or online...it's a minimum TWO HOUR WAIT!!! WTF?!!!! Additionally, I have been waiting for my checkbook...that was reordered because I never received the first one they claimed to have mailed out! They told me two business days. I've been waiting for over TWO weeks!!' Their reps don't know squat. I've sat on hold for a total of over 20 hours IN the THREE WEEKS I've been using them!!! Seriously, it's the worst customer service I've EVER EXPERIENCED!!! I don't even have anything to compare it to!!!

This is the worst company with the worst customer experience that i have ever experienced. On hold with them for 1 hour, then transferred, on hold for 2 more hours, then hung up. Customer service is rude. They have locked in my funds and I can't trade and I have all cash. Can't reach anyone ever
