My friend and I both signed up with this location exclusively for its location and convenience, as we work right across the bridge. When I initially made the call to schedule a registration, the General Manager (Richard) answered the phone and invited me in at my earliest convenience. Upon arrival, my friend and I were greeted warmly, given a tour of the equipment and amenities, he explained how our membership plan would work in depth, answered all of our questions. It was such a pleasure and seamless experience to receive that hospitality in this industry. Thank you to Richard and Team for getting us back into the gym!

I wish I could give a 3.5, but I'm settling with a 3 since Gold's as an enterprise has changed. The days of body building and a plethora of free weight and racks are done. Gold's is taking on machines, group classes, and less of the core weight lifting staples. Yes the view is amazing here and the gym is kept clean, though if you're looking for mass building and/or multiple racks, you'll be let down and frequently waiting for equipment.

I’m lucky enough to live near three Gold’s gyms. Although I live near the one in Clarendon, I often walk the extra mile to Rosslyn - and sometimes the 1-1/2 miles to Ballston - as the gym in Clarendon is not managed well. (Management and avoidance are two different things, and confusing them leads to a poor member experience in Clarendon). Anyway, the Rosslyn Gold’s is fantastic, and who can complain about views from a weight machine that include Georgetown across the Potomac?

I'm 59 have been through almost all types of gems, including many gold's gyms. However this one is going to be one of the best I've experienced. Clean well organized and complete with almost every muscle building and or endurance training equipment anyone needs. I highly recommend this place if you live in the area you're blessed to have one of the best gyms around.

Scummiest gym/establishment I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with.I signed up for a 'paid in full' 3 month student membership this summer. I was confused when signing up if there was an annual fee charged at the end of the membership and went in person to clarify. The college aged kid with dyed blonde hair working the front desk assured me no annual fee would be charged, the membership would end after 120 days, and I'd be good to go once I 'paid in full'. Easy.Fast forward 6 months I've moved away and I receive a collections notice because I didn't pay the annual fee (the one I was told I wouldn't owe) AND they'd auto enrolled me in a new membership plan and I now owe $400. Note that they had my credit card information the entire time but decided not to charge it, most likely because then I would've cancelled and they'd get less money. I called the gym and someone tells me this happens all the time, acknowledges that it's somewhat predatory, and tells me not to worry that they'll sort it out. I call back a week later and no one has looked into the issue. Richard the GM then tells me there's nothing he can do, that I should've read the agreement, and said I had no written proof that I was informed I was good to go once the 3 month summer membership was 'paid in full'.I wouldn't recommend anyone do business with this gym. There are much more reputable ones in the area, including Onelife, which at least pretend to not want to actively and maliciously fleece their customers (nevermind students!). Heed the reviews, it ain't worth it.

BEAWARE: you are better off taking your business elsewhere. They literally don’t reply to your emails to pause and even when you follow up three times they ignore. I ended up paying for 3 months without being in town as they wouldn’t respond. When I emailed them they give me numbers which don’t work telling me that’s the most they can help.Reading from the reviews and personal experience this places billing is sketchy you have to keep an eye on your credit card.

Great gym if you love non transparent and confusing billing practices. Apparently I paid for towel service for months without knowing, they don't offer any sort of family rate, and then they charged me late fees (when I had automated payments…). I had to cancel my membership when I moved out of the country for work. They had a debt collector start bothering me for late fees that I have no idea how I owed when I thought closed things out when I closed out my membership and paid remaining dues with their front desk. Anyway, totally awful and scammy billing practices but otherwise a nice gym if you don’t mind being charged for things you don’t get and terrible customer service with admin issues.

Similar to what others have echoed, I had a hard time canceling despite several calls & emails. This is not a good way to conduct, and this approach will end up damaging your reputation & business.

The new space above the metro is a huge upgrade. This particular Golds location is absolutely a cut above the rest.

The gym itself is not bad, the equipment is old and there is not a lot of equipment to choose from. Do not get a membership here if you don’t want to pay for parking. There is no street parking and you have to pay for parking in the garage attached to the building. It’s also not accessible from the street unless you pass through the metro area which is full of homeless people sleeping everywhere, otherwise you have to walk into the parking garage and walk up to the 4th floor to take an elevator down two floors to access the gym. Very inconvenient and hard for customers to access and park at the building. Very disappointed in the owner of this gym. DO BETTER.

Beautiful Garbage. This place is all sizzle and no steak. While esthetically pleasing at first glance, it quickly turns to disappointment. First of all it’s very confusing to locate from the street level. It’s not marked from the outside and you have to enter a shared business area and walk through a food court to access it. I asked the front desk attendant if there was parking available and she said yes, in the garage. I asked her which one, because there’s like four and she said that she didn’t know because she takes the metro to work. She got the manager and he said that they validate parking, but it will still cost you $5 so if you work out 5 days a week then a $30 membership turns into $130 a month to work out. The gym layout is confusing and weird. You can tell that space was never designed to be a gym because the space itself is full of turns and corners and equipment is packed in it throughout with no real rhyme or reason. I settled on an oly platform to do some clean and jerks and about halfway through my workout another manager came over and addressed me because I was dropping the barbell from an overhead position. He said that the equipment was not designed for that. I told him that he was quite wrong, these were rubber plates on an Olympic lifting platform. This is exactly what it was designed for. Tell me you don’t lift without telling me you don’t lift. He then argued something about the structural integrity of the building and I was just annoyed with the whole experience at this point so I decided to shower and leave. For as big as the locker room is there is 3 shower stalls and no sauna. This was the most underwhelming Gold’s. Do yourself a favor and drive a mile up the road and go to the Ballston location. It’s a far better representation of the Gold’s brand and people are there to lift and not stand around staring at their phones. Would not recommend, won’t be back.

On my first day of my week trial, I asked for a tour and the guy at the counter had me + the staff and two other members do 50 pushups, which, although possibly was in good fun, felt like hazing and was disrespectful of my time. Afterwards, the guy totally forgot why I was there in the first place until I reminded him, to which he just took me upstairs without actually giving a tour of the gym… so it was basically just a “here’s the space, enjoy!”, leaving me to figure the place out on my own.In terms of the actual gym itself, it has everything you need and is spacious. However, I’ve also noticed that they did not have any clips for bench pressing/deadlifts, which I believe can be dangerous. I also had a difficult time finding the entrance at first; I discovered probably about 5 minutes after being in the area there’s a stairway in the Rosslyn metro that gets you there, but there are no signs to indicate this.Overall, I was unimpressed, and seeing the other reviews discuss how unreliable they are and how difficult it can be to cancel leaves a lot of room for concern. It really seems like a lack of transparency is a huge issue, and I get the impression that they care a lot more about taking your money than they do about providing a fostering environment and great experience. There are better options in the area for those looking to work out.
