Greatest toll way scam by Hertz
Every car will have a toll device, which you would think will charge you the normal rate. Wrong, Hertz customer service said unless you prepay those tolls ahead of time then this other company (not associated with Hertz) will charge you a min $20 a day for their “service.” Obviously this is not advised by the car rental counter. So for a $15 toll road charge, I got charged $60 ($20 day) for this service by this other company that is “not associated with Hertz” hence the Hertz agent cant see anything.

No vehicles available and given a rental in someone else’s name
Is there anyway I can get a phone number to talk to a live person? I’m about an hour and a half away and don’t feel like having to come back to try to get this corrected as I was in a accident last night

Very much dissatisfied. I had booked an Electric car and they had no Electric car available for me. I am a Gold member. Very frequent Hertz customer. I had made the booking long back - in April 2025 - 6 months in advance. Still Hertz couldn't plan and manage to give me the car I had booked. The booking says Kia EV6 or equivalent. But I got totally different car - a petrol car. This is quite disappointing. And my rental was for 45 days - a long rental. Still no importance was given for my booking. I didn't expect this from Hertz.

I am a regular customer of this Hertz location at Reagan National airport. My experience is always the same prompt and courteous service, nice cars to choose from, and easy returns. Love it!

I had an excellent experience with my recent Hertz rental. The car was spotless and well-maintained, the pick-up and return process was quick and hassle-free, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Overall, a completely satisfying rental experience — highly recommend!

So easy to rent a Hertz car at DCA. I literally walked in, picked a car, and drove out 2 minutes later. I always have a great experience there. The staff is great and super helpful.

The Shaquille and the staff at DCA are always so professional and expedient. No matter which Hertz I visit in the country, this is the one where I NEVER experience any issues. Thank you for truly allowing your customers to enjoy their Presidential Circle status.

I returned my car with half a tank of gas and they charged me for a full tank which turned out to be as expensive as the entire rental. Shady, money grubbing people, but that's life these day, eh? Never using Hertz again

Very bad rental car experience with Camry hybrid , service due message popped up multiple times . This vehicle is pathetic and had very bad driving experience with hybrid charging and management. Lot of engine sound and motor sound, with sudden breaking. It was horrible in very little rain and wanted to exchange the vehicle at earliest.

Horrible experience. We called in advance and reserved a car. Once spent over an hour getting there, we were told we needed to pay 10x what we had reserved to take the car. My friend who reserved the car is the highest Hertz status mind you. When I called the hertz Gold hotline again and she asked to speak with the employee (Paul) sitting at the desk, he straight up refused to speak with her or us. Very rude and unprofessional. A joke of an operation. I have used Hertz in many other cities no problems.

This location and the company, for that matter, is unprofessional and unhelpful. The counter agent I was (un)assisted by would not accept a major credit card for my rental despite it being issued by a US bank. She provided no explanation regarding why my credit card was unacceptable, but instead proceeded to give me the 1800 number for Hertz customer service to receive assistance, although I was standing right in front of her. If the company policy is to accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX) and they seek to make a policy against one bank or another, this should be stated in their company policy AND clearly stated at the time of reservation, not when the customer makes it to the counter to pick up the rental for their trip. I will not be utilizing Hertz for my rental needs in the future.
