Was referred to the H&R Block 2941 N. Harrison Street Office in Arlington, VA by a neighbor a few doors down the street. This was my first experience with H&R Block (I always did my own taxes). My tax specialist, Anne Holleran, other tax pros, and support staff at this office couldn't have been more professional, friendly, expert, and helpful. I would recommend them highly.

Never sent in my tax extension like they said they did. Now I have over $500 in penalties and late fees. Never working with them again.

The facts, draw your own conclusion: I delivered all my well-organized data to this office a couple of weeks before the deadline for 2022 taxes. Thereafter, I was assigned three different agents, none of whom consulted with me or asked for any additional information. As the deadline approached, I visited the office to find out what was going on. I was told that the federal and state returns (3) would not be ready for review until the last day. Upon arriving at the office at the appointed time late morning on the last day, I discovered that two agents were still working on the federal return and had not begun any of the state returns. At mid-afternoon after spending 4 ½ hours in the office with the two agents with a just-produced federal return to be reviewed and three state returns yet to be done, I gave up and filed for four extensions. Thereafter, I received no response to my several emails and phone calls requesting a copy of the draft federal return for testing whether the 2022 taxes and 2023 estimated taxes I had paid were approximately correct. Obviously, my experience is not typical. But it is lamentable that it should happen at all.

My file was repeatedly mishandled and passed from one person to another after my initial meeting with the tax preparer. I was unable to get anyone to act on it, despite two additional trips to the office. I don't what happened, but it seems the office was in chaos. I barefully got it on time at the last minute.

I don't know much about taxes and it's a relief to have someone who knows what they're doing take care of that for me. They back their work and, if there's a problem, they take care of it. It's just a load off my mind!
