I was there a few days ago. My understanding is that the office was previously in the mall nearby, where many of the negative reviews I saw were coming from. I was unsure how this office would be. But after my experience, I’d highly recommend. Dr. Hammer was thorough with her examination and thoughtful when answering questions. Devin, the manager, was great as well and helped me figure out which glasses I should buy. The other staff was also friendly and helpful. 5 stars for me.

Waited one full hour in the lobby before being seen. Unacceptable. If it’s going to be that long, tell the customer up front so they can decide if they’d prefer to reschedule.

If, like me, you're reading the reviews AFTER a disappointing visit to My Eye Dr. in Pentagon City, you're probably regretting your decision.TLDR: My experience mirrors that of other unhappy patients. This company added charges covertly, and despite my requests to remove them, some persisted on the final bill. Here's the detailed version: I have insurance that covers an exam, glasses, and lenses. I made it clear that I wanted only what my insurance covered. The exam with the doctor was fine, but the problems began with the store's sales staff. The deceitful tactics were evident from the start. For instance, only the most expensive, designer frames, like Tom Ford and Chanel, were on display. When I inquired about frames covered by my insurance, I was shown a hidden selection in a drawer in the back of the store. I chose a pair and reminded the saleswoman that I wanted only what my insurance covered. She entered several things into the computer and then announced, as if offering a great deal, “Your glasses today cost $899, but with your insurance, the total is only $398.” Confused by the math, I was told this included lightweight lenses, anti-glare coating, a copay, and an extra $39 eye test. I agreed to pay the copay and the test fee, bringing the total down to around $130. Though annoyed, I paid, thinking my insurance was not as comprehensive as I believed. After paying and placing my order, I was told to return later to collect my glasses, as they couldn't mail them due to fitting concerns. When I received notification that my glasses were ready, I also found an itemized receipt charging me for the anti-glare coating and a contact lens fitting. Upon collection, I requested these charges be removed. Despite explaining I never wanted the anti-glare coating and had no need for a contact lens fitting, the manager, Devon, was unhelpful. He insisted on charging for the anti-glare lenses since they were custom made and for the contact lens fitting, supposedly for writing the prescription. Perfectly on brand for their opaque, less-than-forthright charging scheme, no one ever fit me for contact lenses (I did get a contact lens prescription, but the exact same one as previous year.) And, even though in store, no one fitted my eyeglasses either. To top it all off, I received an email “personally from the My Eye Dr. CEO” asking for feedback. I completed the survey, detailing my issues, and agreed to be contacted. While I didn't expect a direct response from the CEO, I was surprised when Devon reached out instead, offering to discuss my insurance benefits. I declined. As a result, I'm sharing my experience here to warn others. I've reported My Eye Dr.'s deceptive practices to both the VA Board for Hearing Aid Specialists and Opticians and the Better Business Bureau. I encourage others who've had similar experiences to do the same. Companies should earn profits honestly, not through deceitful upselling. Needless to say, I won't be returning to My Eye Dr. Instead, I'll opt for online shopping, where I have more control over my purchase.

During my annual eye exam, I had new prescription written up for glasses. I didn't need new glasses at that time, but I got the prescription anyway so that I wouldn't have to come back. (Note: where I live a prescription for eyeglasses is valid for one year.)Eventually I got new lenses made at another vendor, but when I received the glasses, they were UNUSABLE. I thought the vendor made a mistake and complained. However, they checked the lenses with a machine and verified they matched my prescription. So I took the faulty glasses and prescription back to MyEyeDr, who also verified that the glasses matched my prescription.I asked MyEyeDr to correct the prescription. However, they refused to do so unless I paid for another full eye exam and visit with their doctor! So basically 1) MyEyeDr made a mistake and wrote me an incorrect prescription and then 2) tried to charge me to fix their mistake. At the time, the prescription I had was still valid for another 6 months. As if this wasn't enough, the vendor even tried to blame me for the issue, by saying if I had come back to them sooner, they could have fixed it without forcing me to pay for another full exam & visit. There are plenty of other eye places in the Pentagon City area and I will be taking my business to them from now on.

The My Eye Dr in Pentagon City did a great job with a new prescription and new frames.Channelle Blake helped me choose a great pair of frames - good size, good color. Good lenses. And they are in my price range! What more could you ask for?Five stars! I would recommend My Eye Dr in Pentagon City to my friends.

It's across from Costco parking is fairly easy. I do enjoy being treated well. This location has a great general Manger who obviously runs this location well. Dr. Hammer so she is absolutely incredible with her science and service. The last doctor I had here was also incredible I forgot her name.Regardless, you can park free in front of store or do Costco at the same time. Win win at this location.

I was able to make a last minute appointment which was very helpful. The Doctor was extremely thorough and covered all my questions. The floor staff Devin was very helpful and personable with frame selection and Channelle who processed my prescription was meticulous and went the extra step to clean and adjust my spouses frames. Thank you!

Loyal customers when they were on the 3rd floor of the pentagon mall but not anymore. Appointment was canceled without notice. “A confirmation doesn’t mean it’s confirmed” those were the words of the condescending general manager of the store. They were unprofessional and unhelpful. There are plenty of other places walking distance. Don’t waste your time and money here.

:) Guess what: “Your Appointment is confirmed” message DOES NOT mean you have a spot for the eye exam. You need to pick up their call, respond to other text messages. The company’s appointment procedures/SOP definitely need improvement. What surprised me was when we showed up, instead of trying solve the problem, we were treated like we made mistake. That condescending attitude only leads to one conclusion: guys! they don’t need your business at all.

THE WORST do not go here Devin the Customer rep is the worst he made my experience miserable and he was not helpful at all. The female eye doctor is also rude and didn't even give me all my paperwork and didn't even say bye or take care.

This is the most unprofessional office I have ever dealt with. I confirmed and pre-checked in online and by text. Then 3 days later, the day before my appointment they called and said they never got confirmation so they scheduled someone else at my time. They said they never sent a text and I still have it on my phone and the confirmation that I clearly shows I confirmed. They told me my only choice was to wait and get worked in possibly or schedule for another day. That's NOT my only choice. I chose to go to a more professional location.Save yourself the frustration and find another office that actually has a business mindset.

This location is super unprofessional. I came in here another time to simply pick out my glasses. They had me waiting and waiting til the point I had to leave because I had other obligations. I come a whole other day, and they had me waiting forever AGAIN. Someone claimed they had to jump on a call, and I had to wait for a “coordinator specialist” who wasn’t coming In for another 35-45 minutes, while I’m also seeing 3/4 employees walking around. Why is it so difficult to simply pick out glasses at this location? Every single time it’s something. I’ve never experienced this issue at any other location

The staff is Wonderful. Unfortunately, the selection of glasses at this new location absolutely sucks. I guess corporate, in their infinite wisdom, decided to discontinue MOST glasses here. The selection is truly lacking. Even in the brands they DO carry. It's sad because I now have to Drive to another location instead of walking here. I have used My Eye Doctor for many years. Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News, VA. Also, Silver Spring MD. THEY BOTH have great selections. When this store was in the mall, they, too, had a great variety to choose from. I went to LensCrafters in Fashion Center at Pentagon City, and they have HUGE selection. Unfortunately for me they don't take my insurance. So it was a NO GO. So now this location has lost my business. Which is a shame because the staff is AWESOME! Jason is especially wonderful.TO the CORPORATE BIG WIGS, please fix this issue. It is pathetic that a NEW store has such a SMALL selection in glasses. FIX IT.
