I visited this Ulta location around 8:20 p.m., well before closing time (9 p.m.), and was very disappointed with the service I received.
When I entered, I was greeted but the associate walked away immediately when I tried to ask for help. I was left trying to find sunscreen on my own while multiple employees nearby either ignored me or stayed focused on other conversations. Even when it was clear I was looking around, no one offered assistance.
At one point, the store even turned off some of the lights while customers were still shopping, which made me feel rushed and unwelcome. Eventually, after I had already found the product myself, one associate finally asked if I needed help. She then made a comment about sunscreen and “not wanting to look older than your age,” which I found unprofessional and inappropriate. I’m here to buy products, not to hear comments about age or appearance.
Overall, I felt overlooked, ignored, and uncomfortable during my visit. Other customers were being helped, but I was left to figure things out myself. This location needs better training in professionalism, customer service, and etiquette.
I will not be returning to this Ulta.

I’ve been going to Sirin at Ulta Beauty in Pentagon City for my hair services, and I’m always so pleased with her work. Most recently, I went in for a haircut trim, a bangs trim, and face waxing, and once again she did a wonderful job.
When I first decided to get bangs, I honestly didn’t know the difference between styles like curtain bangs and straight bangs. Sirin took the time to explain the options and helped me figure out which style actually suits me best (the one I’ve been getting for years without realizing its name!). I really appreciated her guidance—she’s knowledgeable, patient, and made sure I understood what would work well with my hair. My bangs turned out great, and my trim was exactly what I needed—my dead ends are gone, and my hair feels much healthier. I also really appreciate the honest haircare/shampoo recommendations. She didn't try to sell me products, but instead guided me through what was available and would work for me, and so far, it has been great.
She also performed my eyebrow and facial waxing using Benefit products. While I prefer threading over waxing for facial hair, she did an excellent job, and I appreciated her attention to detail.
What stands out the most about Sirin, though, is her friendliness, professionalism, and sweet demeanor. She always makes me feel comfortable, and her customer service and hospitality make the experience that much better.
Each visit has been consistently positive. I definitely recommend her for haircuts, trims, and styling—she’s a fantastic stylist, and I look forward to going back to her again.

I scheduled a blowout appointment with Chahra and arrived on time, but after waiting for 10 minutes I was told she hadn’t even come in to work that day. I was really disappointed to have an appointment confirmed but no hairstylist available to do my hair, and ultimately I had to leave without being serviced. This was a very frustrating and unprofessional experience.

I booked a hair appointment yesterday for today at 12:30. Well around 11am I get a call from the salon/hairdresser that they need to push back to 1:00pm. Sure, no problem. So I get there at about 12:58p and go back to the salon area where there is a check in desk and I wait. And after 10 mins no one had helped me yet. So then some male employee comes out from a back room and is like “have you been helped yet?” I was like no not yet. And he was like “oh well you should’ve went to the front if no one is back here to assist you”. Which I did try to do but there was only one cashier and she was busy checking people out and I didn’t want to interrupt her. So anyway he asks me to sit down and I wait for another 10 mins. So it has now been 20 minutes that I have been waiting and I only allotted about 45 mins for this hair cut and I ended up just leaving because I wasn’t going to have enough time anymore due to work meetings and stuff. So anyway, I leave and give the Ulta a call and very politely explained the situation and that I had to leave. I am like 99% sure it was the male employee that I spoke with in the store earlier. He was like “oh sorry, bye” and literally just hung up on me. He never even asked if I’d like to reschedule or anything like that. I was confused because I explained the situation very politely and did not act upset or angry at all, so his response, or shall I say, lack thereof, was kind of confusing to me and seemed unprofessional. THEN at 1:50pm I get a call from the hair dresser saying “oh you missed your appointment. You can still come in before my next appointment at 2:30p”. Like really??? It took her 50 mins to call? When my appointment was at 1pm and the male employee literally went back there at 1:10pm to tell her I had arrived. Just so unorganized and the lack of basic social skills from these employees is kind of shocking.

I am very dissapointed with this store's management and it's employees. The lack of professionalism and training shocked me. I came here back in May and was wrongly accused of shoplifting merchandise.
They had four officers bring me to the back where the security cameras were, and search me just to find nothing. I had all of my receipts from the previous stores I went to. Before this happened, I noticed some of the store associates giving me weird looks and acting standoffish with me. There was some blonde woman with short hair, she was the main manager when I asked about makeup in which she couldn't even help me find.
I had purchased a facial cleanser and lip gloss so I wasn't standing around soliciting. After I came out of the security room the main manager who spoke with me failed to do her job and handled the situation poorly. When I asked to speak to the manager I spoke to before, they had another manager (Aaima) below the main come, and she wasn't even aware of the situation. The other manager was careless. When Aaima was apologizing, the other manager rudely interrupted and told her she needed to go on break.
None of the store associates wanted to show their faces when they realized I wasn't being escorted out by the officers. The officers were even dissapointed once they realized the situation and told the store associates they couldn't keep doing this. I'm assuming this isn't their first time. A law firm has sent a letter and you all have yet to respond.

I realized that I had forgotten a face cream I use to not look my age at home in Indiana after making it halfway to Washington DC. I found it at the Ulta by the pentagon and picked it up the following day with ease. Great experience!

The gothic “ style “ lady that works in the mornings is super off, when I asked for an item she didn’t even know about it and gave a not very knowledgeable attitude. In a 2nd occasion as soon as she saw me on the line to pay for my items she asked me if I was coming for a DoorDash, profiling me literally. I am a platinum member and mainly purchase skin care and perfumes at this location, she didn’t even apologize about it. I have been here before but every time that I come in the morning I literally have something to say about this person.

Completely unprofessional. My appointment at Ulta Pentagon Row was cancelled just 30 minutes before - no warning, no backup. I rearranged my entire day for this. If you value your time, go elsewhere. Ulta clearly doesn’t prioritize client respect or reliability. Oh and also a couple of months ago I literally got the worst “curly” hair cut by a “professional” of my entire life- and I’ve cut my own hair before.

I booked an appointment for a blow dry only. As soon as I arrived they immediately started to upsell me. I was told I would also need a flat iron which I didn’t understand since I booked for a blowout. Then I was told I needed a haircut, but I made it clear I only wanted a trim to clean up split ends. A trim and a haircut are not the same thing and should not be charged the same. I was never informed that a trim would cost $80.
To make matters worse, the blowout and flat iron didn’t even last 30 minutes. By the time I got home, my hair was already poofy and frizzy. On their website it states that a blowout should last days not hours. Overall, the service was definitely not worth the $170 I paid.

Needed to grab a Mothers Day gift for my wife and I stopped at the local Ulta Beauty. The was SO much to choose from that it was alittle overwhelming at first. I was approached by several sales associates asking if I needed assistance. The store was clean, isles were free and clear and the shelves were fully stocked. After making my selection I was helped by “Bianca” who was very polite, friendly and helpful. She assisted me with my rewards numbers and I was all checked out in no time. There was tons of parking available, which required payment. That was the only downside of the trip. Overall, I would rate the entire Ulta Beauty experience a 10/10 on multiple levels. If you’re in need of health/beauty aids, please consider Ulta Beauty, you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!
