Too hot upstairs. 76-78 where the cardio equipment is!Perfect on lower level where the employees are. The HVAC needs to be rebalanced. I tell numerous employees but nothing is done. I expect more paying so much a month.

I've been a member at VIDA Fitness - Ballston for about a month... and I've been impressed in several ways.I want to give a shout out to my incredible personal trainer, Brandon Doyle. With a blend of tailored workouts, empathetic support, and evident expertise, Brandon stands out as an exceptional trainer. I have a history of patellar tendinitis - and Brandon tailors my workouts to make sure the exercises remain in a safe range of motion.Brandon carefully pushes my boundaries and has introduced me to machines I never would've approached alone. Yes, I'm a cardio-nut, and would likely never creep over to the weight section without an outside force... treadmill, yay!I highly recommend Brandon! Be prepared for polite soreness... it hurts so good!

I’ve been a member at Vida Ballston for a few years and can say it’s a very nice gym with a good selection of equipment. Their shower and locker rooms are always clean, the machines are well maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. With that said, there are a number of things I believe should be addressed to justify the price:1. Most of the workout areas are not cleaned up and organized on a regular basis, resulting in equipment, weights, random PVC poles strewn haphazardly around the gym. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect there to be staff dedicated to straightening these areas throughout the day, returning weights and equipment to their appropriate places. At the very least, staff should be working to keep walkways clear so visitors don’t have to walk over / around piles of equipment. It has started looking like a unkept community center, at best.2. When I first joined the gym, they appeared well staff with employees eager to help and ensure you were having a great experience which, to be honest, is what you should expect from a fitness facility at this price point.3. I can’t speak to the quality or effectiveness of their personal trainers, but what I do find problematic is they often have their clients occupy multiple places on the gym floor simultaneously. This results in several (sometimes three or more) locations and pieces of equipment being monopolized by one person working out. Considering most of their time is spent taking to one another, the result is less equipment and space available to others.I still enjoy the gym, but the quality of the services have decreased over the 2-3 years I’ve been a member. If you are new to the area, I would careful consider your options.

Love this gym! Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. Also the mat Pilates classes with Zaina and Dorthy are amazing!!! I was brand new to pilates but they made it accessible and challenging!

The peloton bikes have been continuously broken for 3 months and management continues to ignore the issue even though they have been notified by members numerous times. Outrageous given the fees charged and very poor equipment maintenance policies.

Autumn at the front desk is the MVP! She really went above and beyond to help me out. The gym itself is also great - clean and good equipment/amenities. It’s one of the more expensive gyms in the area, but worth it in my opinion

Corrected: Please be cautious with your card details and charges. The trainer repeatedly violated rules by unprofessionally demanding payment, even falsely claiming that I had overdue sessions. I requested a list of my sessions and proved that I had no overdue payments. It became clear to me that this organization prioritizes extracting money over ethical practices, prompting me to terminate our agreement to protect my finances. Unfortunately, they continue to charge extra for unused services, as they have access to my card information. Legal action may be necessary, but it appears that this organization only requires your card to be in their system to initiate charges.

Disabled Veteran asked existential questions and denied access to this gym. Before coming here things went great. Never had any issues. Then, suddenly I was questioned by staff while undercover. As if I was the creator & knew the answer to everything. I was told there was a system error for days, but when I finally spoke to the AGM Eric to see what was going on, he started off by asking me "do you not remember what you were doing?". Note that I'm handicapped. After I asked him the simple question "why am I being denied access?". I asked for a corporate phone number and was writing down his words for the record when he then he asked me to leave. I then left. First, he was referencing a time when I was sitting in the sauna minding my business enjoying the facilities quietly. Second, I was contacted by Jay on the day of the "incident" I know little about and never saw Eric on that day. Eric wasn't there and could not honestly tell you anything that "occured" at the time that day because I never made contact with or saw him. Unless Eric is a fortune-teller who can see and hear through walls or unless there's a camera in the sauna, then he did not witness and could not accurately report on what actually occured, has little information about the occurance and can not accurately speak about the "instance" truthfully and realistically. Again, I'm a retired handicapped veteran who is in recovery after just getting home 3 days ago. I went to the gym, then the staff at this gym started asking questions, then pointing fingers at me. Essentially harassing someone who was secretly undercover. It has never been in my nature to go to a work out facility to be spoken to, ask or answer questions or to do anything besides put my head down, listen to music, breath and exercise. Since then getting into contact with upper level management is proving to be difficult. I live in the neighborhood. Seeing this kind of behavior is unacceptable within an especially veteran community. The least I can do is report on it so that someone does not share the same experience. If any defamatory, slanderous or accusatory allegations in nature are written, posted online or otherwise communicated and directed toward me moving forward stemming from this perceived incident then you may hear from an attorney. The facility is great, somewhat of a small space but the equipment is new and great. The staff is generally courteous and as I have said, never had any issues before. Just wondering where things went wrong and what I could do to maybe benefit the situation to prevent something like this from happening again. Good luck!

Beautiful and affordable facility with a ton of cardio and weights. Great options for classes and top notch instructors. By far the best fitness club experience in the region.

The gym is exceptionally clean, the equipment is up to date, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the variety of classes and services offered are second to none. I also enjoy being able to workout at any Vida location given another club is by my workplace and Ballston close to home. I recommend joining Vida to everyone!

Management removed around 30% of the gym equipment "to make room on the floor." If you are serious about working out, you won't get a full workout here. They removed the equipment for decline presses, calves, glutes, shoulder machine, and others. Variety of leg equipment is now laughable, you'll get better selection at Gold's. Manager's response to members concerns about this issue was outright bs. This gym already had plenty of space, before the removal. VIDA's City Vista location is much smaller, but still has more variety of equipment and even recently added more. Housekeeping does a great job at keeping Club clean.

I was an early member of VIDA back when it opened in DC all those years ago. Back then, it was easily one of the best gyms in the area. Life took me out West to California the last seven years where I remained active in fitness, sport, and some amateur strength meets. Just this week I was visiting my inlaws in Virginia and needed a place to get my lift on. I was about to hit Gold's in Ballston but then noticed a VIDA just down the block. I reached out through their website to request a day pass and shortly thereafter got a nice text from their GM, Justin, who invited me over with a day pass. This is an absolutely impressive and insanely motivating gym. It's maintained the same athletic and active VIDA "vibe" that I recall- with the bumping music, spotless floors and locker rooms, and obviously the finest workout equipment you'll ever see in any gym. They spared no expense with getting the best benches, the best plates, the best dumbbells the best machines, the best cardio gear. And it's not just a gym that "has the best gear," it's a fitness center that has the best gear organized in the most intuitive and conducive way for anyone serious about fitness. Lower body gear down stairs, cardio and upper body stuff on the top floors. Exceptionally well thought out and organized with every space being used and not one area feeling crowded.Beyond all of this "stuff," though, are the people. From the folks at the front desk, to amazing membership staff like up-and-coming power lifter Olivia, to energizing and kind managers like Justin- this is, without exception, the finest gym to get your ass in gear, keep your ass in gear, and be part of an ecosystem that is oriented towards supporting physical fitness and the litany of elements that need to come together to make that happen in a sustainable and, frankly, fun and engaging way. Well over a decade ago, VIDA was the best gym in the area and all these years later, it has surpassed how absolutely amazing it was in its early days. I am sure there a hiccups here and there--what gym doesn't have them?- but for my few days working out there, I didn't see or feel a single one. This VIDA crew, this VIDA facility, have dialed in the best parts of a gym. It is welcoming, clean, fun and motivating. Makes me a bit sad knowing I have to go back to Cali next week and deal with the dingy towels, rusty weights, and out of order machines at my gym.

Awesome gym, great equipment, nice staff, very nice facilities all around, a bit smaller than the U street location but I really liked it and will definitely be back!
