Tried to order subs and 1 pizza online. System slowly prompted to order on separate tickets. Ok - no problem but yes inconvenient. Tried to reorder subs only first - system gave message about order activity and promptly crashed. Order wiped for 3 super specialized subs. After a few more attempts - gave up online. Tried to call. No one answered but I was determined. Young man finally transferred me to deli to place my order. After which, no one bothered to pick up the phone. I hung up now fully disgusted. Over an hour now and still could not order 3 subs 1 pizza which should have taken 5 min tops. :( SUPER DISAPPOINTED in Crystal City Harris Teeter. Will never return or order from HT again. Not sure how HT thinks they can compete with Wegmans with this kind of ridiculousness and poor service.

The store is good, with everything I need, but that's not why I'm giving them 5 full stars today. Right now, I just left the Crystal Gateway HT location, after having a terrible day at work today (back to back meetings, last minute demands, and I found out that a good friend from high school today). As I was checking my groceries, the checker was a lady named Karen. Her pleasant personality, professionalism, and simply just our pleasant chat made me close out today on a good note. You never know what people are going through, and simply providing a pleasant customer experience can make or break someone's day. I want to thank Karen for making my day better. (And congrats on losing that 20 lbs. too)

The quality and freshness leaves a lot to be desired, especially compared to other HTs in the DC area. I'll skip this store next time.

It's a decent location, in an area with mostly condos, apartments and office buildings and it's a quick walk from local hotels. Unfortunately, they have a very limited supply of greeting cards. Service was friendly and with a smile.

I went shopping here last night, primarily to purchase items for my church's Thanksgiving Basket project from a prescribed list. I went after 9pm to avoid crowds, and from that perspective, it was perfect. I was shopping for non-perishables, and I did notice some items were nearly gone from the shelves, but I've noticed this in a lot of stores. What I did not realize (and I should have) was that only self-checkout is available after 10pm, and of course, my cart was overflowing! The manager quickly asked the person who I think was working customer service at the time to assist me. I think her name was Tamika, and she graciously checked out all of my groceries at self-checkout. She was a pro at this. She had a whole system as to how to make it work when there was so little counter space. She was so friendly and efficient, and managed to assist another customer at the same time she was checking out mine. All with a smile. I won't make this mistake again, but hats off to this Harris Teeter, and especially to Tamika!

So I've been shopping here for the last 3 years and I have to say, this grocery store is not bad. They tend to have everything that I'm looking for--especially for a small establishment. The reason I had to amend my review is because how great the seafood/meat deli counter employees were during my several visits. Always professional. At least 3 times, when I ordered a salmon, they were able to get the exact weight with the first try; now that's impressive. The only negative (-1) that I had to mention is the small produce section. I do understand it's a small store but compared to, lets say, the alcohol section, it's considered quite small. Nonetheless, I would still pick this store over the one in Shirlington. Great job to the employees.

First and last experience using ExpressLane online shopping. This location usually is fine to run in and grab some things, as there is another location down the street and this one is off the beaten path. My order was quoted as being ready between 12:30 and 1:00. At 12 I received a call that the "personal shopper" was behind and would need a few extra minutes. No huge biggie, so I arrived around 1:20. Pressed the call button in the designated area, no response. Pressed again, nothing. Pressed 15 more times, radio silence. I finally called the store from my phone (which was incredibly difficult considering it's underground), and briefly spoke with a manager who confirmed my name and said the shopper would be out in 10 minutes.I pulled into a nearby space, and watched as people pulled into spaces and actually came out the store with full carts - mind you this is how long I sat there, almost 30 minutes. As I prepared to go inside and just get my own d**m groceries, a woman in an apron runs towards the car and says she's the deli manager and the shopper is overwhelmed and it'll be another 10 minutes. I told her that I could've did it on my own at this point. She motions towards the parking garage and says they are busy but she will attempt to help the shopper. At this point (since I'm stuck since I prepaid), I've taken out my work laptop and files and have starting doing work. Another 30 minutes goes by, and the same deli manager - carrying her items to go home - walks to the car and says "she's bagging up your groceries now, it'll just be another 10 minutes. She's coming with a manager since I told them you were irate"I'm irate???? Well now I am, knowing that folks are going to be coming out towards me on the defensive. I'm moreso peeved that I've gotten this "10 more minutes" bull over the course of almost 2.5 hours now. And I'm fully aware that all of the folks leaving with carts full of food means that my order is probably underfilled. A full 20 minutes later one employee comes to the car, says that it was crazy inside, thanks for my patience and that my car smells good, and slams the door shut - that was it. A complete waste of time. And yes, only half of my order was filled. On a somewhat amusing note, two Hispanic cleaning folks (HT employees) stood with brooms/trashcans/etc. next to my car chatting and laughing my entire visit. Literally did no work.

The employees lack customer service. The parking lot has the angled parking, basically difficulty entering and leaving when the lot is packed. During lunch/ rush hour, they only have 1 lane open and it's typically busy, so you have to go to the self service. The self service machine will only take perfect bills! It's ridiculous! I had a bill that didn't have a wrinkle in it at all expect for a small bent edge and it would not accept it. Additionally the "fresh bakery" doesn't seem so fresh when you find molded bread!!

Just not very clean, and not much pride is taken in the front of the store. The employees who are tasked with the shopping cart and trash duty are just about always 'on a break' and the carts are everywhere. I need to move several in order to get my stroller through. The carts are filthy, especially that token baby carrier cart. Could you at least just pretend you care? Clean up!

In general I love me a Harris teeter. The food quality and selection is a step up from other chains without being super expensive. The staff at the deli, seafood, stickers are always helpful and friendly. I have learned, however, that at this location some of the checkout workers will not help you bag your groceries AT ALL even when it is not crowded in the store. In the day and age of self checkout and home delivery I think it is expected that this would be an expectation of the job. If I have enough groceries to go to a line with an actual person checking me out I expect help. It also holds up the line when I am bagging on my own because I'm it going to pay until I'm done. I will likely continue to go to Harris teeter but only for small purchases that I will self checkout. There are plenty of other places that will help bag large orders OR places that are cheaper to bag your own items.

This location of Harris Teeter is in the basement of an apartment building in Arlington, VA. There's ample parking and the grocery store itself is pretty spacious. The wine selection seems bigger than other area Harris Teeters.

I came into this location in order to send a Western Union payment to someone overseas. The Customer Service desk seemed pretty well organized and there were two people attending to customers. This location seems to be much smaller than other stores that I've been to in the area. I like the fact that they offer the self serve check-out registers, which makes things very convenient. The Customer Service lady who helped me was very nice and professional, and she was able to look up my information in their system with ease! The only complaint I still have about this store are the bonus card. For years I have never understood, the benefits and how can I redeem those benefits? It's not very clear, even how to update my information, like my phone number that changed years ago!

I'm not saying Giant is the best, but it is probably the most classic grocery store that I grew up with, they have most of what you need and even better they have some clearance sections with their meat and if you're ready to eat right there on the spot then take it home and grill it and you got yourself a deal!
