Stopped in and bought some items from their deli. Great selection, fresh and delicious. Oh yes, the service behind the counter was courteous and helpful. Makes me rethink my opinion of SAFEWAY, maybe this is an OK, no better than average, grocery store chain.

I'm very happy with this Safeway -- altho I rarely shop there I know that the employees are pleasant, the store is welcoming, the lighting is great, shelves clean and well stocked and the prices, especially with my Safeway card, are great. Yesterday when I went for my Covid booster shot I was EXTREMELY impressed with the professionalism and the great service from Dr. Tang (sp?) the pharmacist. That in itself would have made me a repeat customer. Thank you so much!!

Quick visit in the search of Cornish hens which they unfortunately do not sell. I ended up walking around picking up a couple other items in preparation for Thanksgiving the next day. As o was walking around one of the employees even gave me a coupon, so that was nice. For it to be the day before a holiday it wasn't too wild or crazy in there and things were well stocked.

This is locally referred to as 'The Soviet Safeway" because they never have anything is stock. The store is convenient. Although I can walk there, I drive so I can go somewhere else when they don't have the essentials in stock. Beware of expired items.

So a friend who is as COVID phobic as me suggested I start shopping at this Safeway. It's never very packed with people, and you can get in and out very quickly. Now we know that indoors poses the most risk. So I've been shopping here for a few weeks, and I do get in and out very quickly. The store has some disinfecting essentials like wipes every time I go in there. Every so often there's some disinfecting spray as well. The store may not be as popular as other groceries but that's fine by me. It is small and it is old. But I'm going in there to get essentials and it doesn't have to be new and it doesn't have to be big. And if it's not crowded even better. I will keep shopping here during the epidemic. When it's over I will probably go back to stores in my neighborhood that are bigger and better supplied. However they do have Fresca almost all the time here...why is that missing from shelves. I'm nevermind. So if you want to go to a grocery store with lots of parking, get in and out, get your daily essentials go here!

This Safeway ties with the Chevy Chase location for the "worst grocery store" award. It's dated and not in a retro-cool way. Lines are long and slow, space is limited, and everything feels subpar. Unless you must shop here, there are better grocers around.

This store is mediocre--and that's why you want to shop here during the pandemic. The outside looks like it's 1982. The giant parking lot is an anomaly on the edges of bustling Ballston, a throwback to the days when this neighborhood housed WMATA's overnight bus depot. There is no self checkout. I'm almost amazed the registers are electronic and not manual. Many of the less popular items sit on the shelves for months, and on more than one occasion I've bought things that were expired. I've brought home apples and oranges with a spoiled one hiding in the bag. Okay, you still with me? This store isn't glitzy but it's hiding gems, maybe because it's so unpopular. It was one of the first places to restock toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and masks. They have a surprisingly robust natural foods section, baby toys, frozen turkey breasts even when it's not thanksgiving, and other random items that may be just what you're looking for. The shelves have been consistently stocked during the pandemic. And the aisles tend to be empty, especially if you avoid lunch time or right after work. Let's keep this our secret. When you're not using the parking lot as overflow from Pupatella, consider coming into this Safeway.

Smaller and seemingly ancient Safeway that made me expect a "George Washington shopped here" sign out front. It's smaller than most stores so it's cramped and but the staff seemed friendly and there's plenty of parking.I'm not a Safeway fan in general but it's tolerable if you're in the area and are in desparate need of something. I stopped here to get a bottle of water while I was on a walk and it's not too far from the Bluemont/W&OD Trails.

The store is fantastic. In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, this store is well stocked, and the staff is fantastic. Thank you.

This is a great place to shop for food when you don't have a lot of money to spend. I really love this store

I know people don't tend to rate grocery stores but I just had to say how much I love the staff here. There's one particular woman that is not only polite...but funny as hell! You should count yourself lucky if you end up in her aisle. No matter how late it is, she greets you with a smile and somehow finds a way to make you laugh. For the life of me I can't remember her name (it had an odd spelling) but she just makes me feel like I'm grabbing a meal with a friend.

This Safeway is near my house. I always go here but lately the customer services have been horrible .The cashier charged me twice and I let him know, he said he was going to take out the second items he double scanned .Which he didn't then he gave my change . When I was going to check if he took off the items he over charged. I asked if he can give my receipt. Because he didn't give my receipt he only gave me my I then asked if he could reprint the receipt he quickly started scanning the person behind me and he said he could . I then asked to speak with manger he came looked young and said they could reprint the receipt. I asked if he look up the receipt with the phone he said no. I very upset . I could see how much he over charger me, I have worked in retail before and I know there is away to reprint receipt. I upset the fact they didn't apologize and the fact they didn't put an afford to try to help me . Very disappointed.

Terrible Safeway. The lines are always long. They never have more than one or two cash registers open. The service terrible. The building is old. The electricity keeps going out and all the refrigerators are empty. And it's expensive! Tear it down!! Please. Bring in a Trader Joes or an Aldi!! PLEASE!
