We have been Woofs clients for over 3 years now! I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review! We are so happy with Woofs, we adore the entire Woofs team. We have worked with them for private training, group training, and doggy daycare. We feel so lucky to have stumbled into this amazing family that treats my dog with love, respect, and kindness. This is a positive reinforcement training facility and once you try it, you will never, ever consider another approach. We always joke that the training sessions are more to train me than my dog, but I have learned so much about dog body language and being in tune with my dog's needs. We love Woofs!Special shoutouts to Laura and Carrie who we've worked with the most, but truly all of the staff are so so wonderful!

I literally never leave reviews but I’m going out of my way on this one. The first sentence she said to me was that my dog could not go to daycare. My dog has never been denied to go to a daycare- she is small, but most daycares divide large and small dogs. The trainer was condescending. She chuckled in my face when I told her that my dog qualified for being a service animal. She laughed and told me that I got “scammed” which was the case (I won’t deny that), but she made me feel like I was dumb and chuckled at me. She made me feel awful until I literally started crying from how I was being treated. She started being nice when she realized I was a veteran. I would absolutely never get training from this lady. She made me feel like the worst person when I already suffer from a mental disability.

This is going to be a little bit long but my pup loooooves Woofs. He just finished intermediate obedience and has previously completed puppy basic obedience and one puppy party here. The puppy party was at the ballston location and was pretty nerve wracking because it was the first time my little buddy was off leash around other pups. I was immediately put at ease when the trainers were clearly explaining every behavior and all the play styles to all of us owners stuck sitting in chairs around the outside. My little guy was a little bigger than some of the others but the Woofs employees were very attentive and were rotating little and/or shy dogs into different areas to make sure no one got overwhelmed. Potty accidents were quickly cleaned up in a safe and sanitary way while letting play continue as soon as was safe. Our puppy basic class at the Shirlington location was really great. A few of the sessions started with puppy play time to make sure all the zoomies were gone before it was time to focus. While we didn't learn a bunch of tricks, I feel like we covered a lot of basic exercises that will quickly lead to tricks or (more importantly) better attention/obedience in a variety of settings. Carrie was always open to answering specific questions about each pup whether it was related to that days class or not. She really honestly felt invested in each puppy and getting them to become successful in the owners training objectives. We enjoyed the basic class so much that we signed up for intermediate class right after. Carrie and Sarah are both great teachers and really worked to tailor each class to the dogs and how they're feeling. One week towards the end of the intermediate class, all the pups showed up and were acting absolutely insane. Not focusing on people or treats or really anything other than being super hyper. Instead of the lessons they had planned, they called an audible and we all went outside and just focused the whole hour on getting our dogs attention. That might sound like a waste of time/attention but when the alternative is trying to force pups to listen when they're all clearly distracted, it was really appreciated. At the end of the intermediate class, I've got a good idea of how we can progress moving forward on our own, plus a 9 month old pup that will sit every time I stop walking and while going through adolescence, listens to me almost 90% of the time (100% if jo other pups are around!) and is really on the road to being an amazing listener. Brooks used to be terrified of stairs (and still is of the exit stairs in my condo building), but he will literally drag me up to the Woofs building and up the stairs until he is let into the daycare area! He absolutely loves going to daycare and we've both learned so much with the obedience classes. There may be cheaper places but in terms of places I feel comfortable leaving my little buddy when I have to go to the office or go on a business trip, Woofs is really the only choice. Brooks LOVES it so much! Thank you all!

I really enjoyed my hour-long consultation with Joelle. She reaffirmed several of my worries regarding my dog's behaviour. She gave brilliant proposals to address a portion of his issues and showed restraint toward teaching me on the most ideal choices for remuneration based preparing. She recommended home instructional courses instead of boarding which might additionally bother my canines uneasiness so this was good to have an expert let me know about the way things are. I cherished this preparing focus, appears to be reasonable and is in an extraordinary area close to Shirlington!

We’ve used a variety of services from a variety of competitors in the area (including others close by in Shirlington). WOOFS is hands down the best. The trainers, Dr. Laura Sharkey and the facilities are top-notch. Unlike other places, the trainers are great with both dogs and people. I completely trust them and will use them for socializing, daycare, training and boarding.

Joelle is an excellent trainer and so helpful! The facility is quite large, but I only saw one room because we had a private lesson.

I had a great experience with a one hour consultation with Joelle. She confirmed a lot of concerns that I had about my dogs behavior. She provided excellent recommendations to address some of his issues and was patient with educating me on the best options for reward based training. She suggested home training sessions rather than boarding which may further irritate my dogs anxiety so this was nice to have a professional tell me how it is. I loved this training center, seems affordable and is in a great location near Shirlington!

We enrolled our puppy in the puppy obedience class with Woofs. The trainers have been amazing and it's been great for our puppy. We have trained our other dogs but having lots of distractions in class has been so valuable. Both us and our pup walk away from each class having gained something. Highly recommend.

Extremely disappointed in the response from the management team regarding an outbreak of kennel cough. Understandably kennel cough is something that happens at these facilities. However after notifying them of my 15 week old puppy contracting kennel cough from their facility at the Tuesday Puppy Socialization Day Camp. The response was woefully insufficient and could be regarded as careless and crass. I was informed in the follow up email that they were aware of an ongoing outbreak and informed people only of signs in the building. I don’t believe this is an acceptable response to people with very young puppies or possible senior dogs that are at higher risks of complications. If there’s an ongoing outbreak people should be informed of this prior to financial transitions and walking into a building for drop off. Allow people to make the best choice to keep their animal as safe as possible. Be more responsible.

So, I live in DC and decided to give this a try. The classes weren't nearly as orderly as much pup is used to. We're fairly new in the trainings world but have high expectations. I think I maybe went to two classes and will not return again.

Eloise started with Puppy Socialization Day Camp and Puppy Kindergarten classes at 10 weeks old. She has graduated Puppy Basic Obedience, and will start Adult classes with WOOFS! soon. Eloise also goes to Daycare once a week; she loves the staff! The facility is always clean, and I am confident that she is having fun in a safe space. All of the staff and trainers are amazing. Eloise is a well socialized and well behaved dog because of their programs.
