A stage 4 Salivary gland cancer prognosis resulted in a radical neck dissection, Chemotherapy, radiation, and targeted therapy. When I met Cheryl and her team, I was a mess. The entire team from the desk to the table jumped in and went to work. They were remarkable. The dedication and commitment from the entire team is beyond description. From a frozen shoulder to fluid in my face and feet, they handled it all.A year and a half after being diagnosed I'm back to daily workouts and running 2 to 3 miles daily. I’m getting back to my active version of me again.I can never thank Cheryl, Lida and Jocelyn for guiding me through some of the toughest months of my life and I will be eternally grateful.I absolutely love them all.

It was my good fortune to have had Oncology Rehab and Wellness Resources recommended to me by my oncologist. I have been a prostate cancer patient since 2012, but it recently metastasized to certain bones. Radiation treatments and the use of narcotic drugs for pain had left me immobile and suffering from extreme fatigue. My friends at Oncology Rehab in Lansdowne, VA helped me to regain much of my mobility; rebuilt all muscle systems, arms, legs, core etc.; and greatly improved my balance. I had the opportunity to work with all the therapists and have nothing but praise for all of them. Every employee was very helpful, compassionate and personable. I recommend anyone who is a cancer patient and needs physical therapy to go to them.

ORW was an excellent resource when I was recovering from surgery for breast cancer. Cheryl is exceptionally knowledgeable and caring. Because she only works with cancer patients, she is able to focus on their specific needs. I highly recommend her, as well as her team.

I was amazed at how different this program is compared with regular physical therapy. I’m 73 and was very deconditioned from surgeries, chemo and other medications. My focus, energy and stamina were very low. I was motivated to maintain remission and that was enough to get me involved in the program which was tailored to where I was physically and emotionally. The instructors are wonderful and very knowledgeable about the issues involved in cancer recovery. Since starting about 2 months ago, I now work out with 2-3 pound ankle weights and hand weights. I have also incorporated the exercises at home so that I exercise about 5 times a week. That is a miracle! Maintaining health and remission takes work and commitment because the stakes are high. The staff here are very involved in long term sustained recovery. Our goals are the same. It is really a great program with great therapists.

Cheryl and Lida provided fantastic care. Treatment for the lymphedema related to my surgery was very successful with almost all of the swelling reduced. In addition to the treatment, I was taught how to keep the level of swelling down on my own. I would recommend this facility for anyone dealing with lymphedema.

I am very grateful for help I received ! For more than three years, I could not wear normal shoes. My legs where swollen, and it was hard to walk. After a two-weeks visit to the clinic, I returned to normal life, and I can wear regular shoes. And most importantly, the attitude towards me as patient was kind, friendly, and very attentive. I was selected in the most thorough way compression stockings, which help to keep my legs in normal condition. The team is wonderful, the purity of the circle is perfect, and a lot attention ! Thanks very much !

Oncology Rehab - My journey was not easy, but with encouragement and adaptability from the professional staff, I was able to accomplish goals and was motivated to stay with the programs. From PT after surgery, through the BEST program (check it out!), my journey is now completed. Thank you Oncology Rehab for all that you did for me and do for others!--Wendy

Cheryl was such a support to me mentally as well as physically while recovering from cancer surgery. I was devastated by my lack of arm motion and I regained complete range under Cheryl’s care. I would 100% recommend her and her team to anyone who is recovering from cancer and the related effects of treatment. We are so fortunate in Northern VA to have access to this excellent care.

During my first visit with Cheryl I was taken by the saying on her wall, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”Hearing the words “You have cancer” is shocking and upsetting; but dealing with the diagnosis and treatment during a pandemic is super scary. Like most others, I diligently read and learned what to expect with my diagnosis, how to recover from surgery, etc.. I did everything as told, but nothing seemed to go as planned. Several weeks after surgery I was referred to Oncology Rehab & Wellness. During my appointment Cheryl listened, evaluated and fully explained the diagnoses and put together a plan specific for me; it was obvious that I was in good care. Cheryl diligently monitored my case, and always checked in to see how I was progressing while I was working with Eliska, who was also entrusted in my treatment. Eliska is thorough and caring and ensured my comfort. She knew when to push me and when I was at my limit based on how I was feeling each visit. Eliska teaches, watches and stresses proper form and good posture to avoid additional issues. From the first time I walked through their door, Cheryl and Eliska have definitely been helping me to dance in the rain. I always leave feeling better than when I enter, both physically and emotionally. They are reassuring and caring, and extremely knowledgeable, and I can tell both have a smile behind their masks. When one is overwhelmed with everything, this is something very much needed and comforting. Like many others, I have been living in my own little bubble during this pandemic. They ensure a safe environment and put procedures in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. Cancer truly sucks, but fortunately, Oncology Rehab & Wellness helps me through it! I more than highly recommend them if you ever find yourself in similar circumstances!!

After 5 weeks of pain following a bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders, I was referred to Cheryl's practice. She and Elyska gave me back my quality life. I had limited movement in my arms and was in constant pain. I was unable to sleep at night or do normal everyday activities which was caused me to become depressed. After the first week of PT I had a decrease in pain which continued to improve with every appointment. They are not only excellent at what they do, but pleasant to be around. I now feel better than I did before my surgery!

I would highly recommend Oncology Rehab and Wellness Resources to anyone suffering from lymphedema. My wife Stacey dealt with crippling lymphedema issues for over one year as a result of radiation treatment for breast cancer. With Cheryl's expert care and guidance Stacey received significant relief and reversal of the lymphedema in her arm. Cheryl's experience and expertise goes far beyond the practitioners we had dealt with before. Prior to the VA referring us to Cheryl, we had only seen physical therapists who had taken a class or two in handling lymphedema. We certainly appreciated their efforts, but after only one visit with Cheryl we realized what we had been missing with Stacey's treatment regimen. Even the products Cheryl uses in her practice are specialized for lymphedema treatment; another factor of care we were not even aware of prior to finding Cheryl.Jocelyn, who runs the front office for Cheryl, always made sure we felt welcome and appreciated during Stacey's treatments. She even made sure our appointments each week were accommodating to our personal schedule and often worked with Cheryl to adjust them as we needed.Stacey passed away in April and my only regret is that we did not find Oncology Rehab and Wellness Resources sooner.

Cheryl and her team made my recovery from breast cancer MUCH easier. They're knowledgeable, kind, gentle and take care of their patients with sympathy and a sense of humor. I credit them with helping me recover, with my sanity intact. When I had concerns about lymphedema from a later, unrelated surgery, Cheryl got me in for a checkup within one day of having called her. I cannot recommend Cheryl and her team highly enough!
