Avoid at all costs. We believe Owner Jeff Frank and Total Construction staff to be dishonest, unprofessional, and incompetent. We repeatedly told Jeff and his staff they were not overseeing the project competently and of the multiple problems with our master bathroom renovation. Total Construction responded by brushing off our complaints and apparently lying to us. We eventually had to get Fairfax County and Virginia State officials involved. To date, we believe our shower still leaks an unusual amount of water on the bathroom floor. We recommend not wasting your time and money with Total Construction.Update: We believe Mr. Frank to be distorting the facts to excuse his poor work and lack of accountability. For instance, he failed to mention that Total Construction was fined by VA State officials. His response actually says it all: take responsibility for nothing and just attack. Buyer Beware.

Our kitchen was totally updated and a wall taken down to create the open concept living space. An 11' kitchen was, added. Lighting was also changed in the foyer and family room and the vanity in the bathroom changed out. LPV flooring was installed. Total Construction Company was very professional and listened to our needs. We are totally satisfied with the quality of the work and the attention to detail. The total remodel was about 30 days. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to remodel their home.Services: General construction

This is the best company for all your housing renovations. We've used them twice now, for finishing our basement and just recently a total renovation of our master bathroom. All the work is exemplary with the tile installation and drywall being amazing. The owner Jeff and his designer/manager Jay are always in communication with their workers and kept us informed of the project's status. Visiting the design showroom simplified selection of materials. I have to say our new bathroom is absolutely gorgeous thanks to Total Construction Company!Service: Bathroom remodeling

Home renovations can be very scary, especially with all the unknowns in a big project. We put our trust in Jeff and his team and are so happy with the result. They helped navigate the unpredictable surprises (as can always happen with large projects) with the gas and electric companies, so our project could stay on track. Jeff stepped in with several cost saving solutions to help keep us on budget and we were able to get everything we had hoped for in the finished project!

I can’t say enough good things about this company. They found a solution for every idea we came up with for our kitchen renovation, and never settled for anything but quality installation and results. Jay was incredibly responsive and never balked at our changes, providing perfect design options, and the crew were timely, skilled, kind and very respectable of our property. We gave them free rein while on a trip, and everything turned out gorgeous, far above expectations. Even after completion they responded immediately to minor fixes. We plan to stick with them for more projects!Service: Kitchen remodeling

Jeff Frank and his incredible team of designers, tile experts, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and painters, helped us combine two bedrooms to create a large 2nd primary bedroom with a new beautiful en-suite bathroom and large walk-in closet. They also ripped up all the carpet in the house and installed beautiful hardwood floors throughout. We secured 5 total bids for our project. Total Construction was the higher bid but they were the only ones who guaranteed their project price and had their own team of contractors. After reading their reviews we chose them for the project. They did not disappoint. Jay Jelis was our designer. He was a delight to work with. David and Melvin handled the tile work for our bathroom and it turned out even more beautiful than we hoped. Mario (our electrician) and Kamran’s team of plumbers handled every challenge that came their way and delivered a terrific final product. The hardwood floor installers made sure that every board and seam was perfect. David and Austin performed the tear down of walls, removal of carpet and then construction of the new rooms, closet and trim and painting. They were always on time, always pleasant to deal with, they cleaned up their work areas at the end of every day and delivered a terrific final product. Due to permit and supply chain issues our project took longer than anticipated but the end result was well worth it. Jeff and his team made sure that everything was done right. We would absolutely use Total Construction again for any future home improvement needs.Services: Home renovations

We have, unfortunately, been very disappointed in the work quality of Total Construction Company. We hired them to remodel our master bathroom which had been ruined due to a leak in our home. When the project was completed, it felt like several corners had been cut to make the deadline. We wish better attention and work product had been given, even if it took a longer time:Tiling - the new tiling in the shower and tub was put in poorly. It concaves into the wall rather than being flush. Painting - the molding around the inside of the bathroom door was never repainted to match the new bathroom. TCC (Total Construction Company) replaced a recessed lighting fixture in the bathroom, but the patching/painting of the ceiling around it was done poorly and runs of paint are clearly visible when you look up in the bathroom. It appears that one of the screws to our GFCI outlets was removed and never replaced in the outlet when the outlet receptacle was removed for the painting. Toilet - We got a new toilet as part of the remodel, but water kept running uselessly through the tank costing us money in our water bill. At our request, TCC sent over a handyman who reset some of the innards of the water tank and explained that this should have been done by TCC's plumber when the toilet was installed, to keep water from being wasted. Vanity - After the bathroom was completed, I woke up at 5 am to find a puddle of water on the bathroom floor. When I opened our new vanity, the entire bottom of the main portion of the vanity had a layer of water covering it. Anytime the faucet was turned on, water sprayed out of the pipes under the sink! At our request, Total Construction sent in their plumber that same day. The plumber explained that the sink/faucet part comes with a plastic piece. If the piece is screwed in too tightly, it will break in response to the water pressure. If it is screwed in too loosely, water will leak. What needed to be done, the plumber told us, was to replace the piece with a metal part which could be purchased at Home Depot. I asked why this metal piece hadn't been used in the first place and he told me that the plastic piece is what comes with the sink fixture and so he uses it for cost effectiveness. If he's aware that that's an issue with sink fixtures (which he was), he should have purchased the extra piece in the first place, rather than installing poor materials that he knew could have bad results in our new bathroom. A few extra dollars would have saved a significant leak from occurring in the first place. This plumber is a contractor of Total Construction and so his choices/action reflect poorly on them and their mindset as a company. Caulking - The area between the tiling and top of the tub was originally filled with (I believe) tile grout. When I cleaned the tile (and also when I showered in the tub), I saw that this grout was coming off in threads. If the grout couldn't stand up to direct water/liquid contact, it should never have been used as a sealant around a tub. We spoke with another professional who informed us that silicone caulk, not tile grout, should have been used in the first place. At our request, TCC replaced the grout with caulk, which they should have done in the first place. Respect of space - My family and I temporarily moved out of our house while the bathroom was being remodeled. One night I came by and found a box of chicken tenders sitting in the microwave. It was 8 or 9 pm by that point so the chicken had been in there for hours. It was disgusting to find and have to clean up. Additionally, I also found dirty (i.e., containing paint) paintbrushes sitting in my clean kitchen sink. I have a work sink in my basement which the contractors should have known about since I showed them that area of my basement. But rather than using that work sink, they chose to leave dirty brushes with paint in my kitchen sink (which food and dishes frequently contact). Sink - When the bathroom was completed, I thoroughly cleaned the sink and found no issues. However, a plumber from TCC

Jeff Frank and Total Construction Company far exceeded my expectations on our basement remodel. I worried most about a contractor who would nickel and dime us to death and prolong the project for months on end. Jeff did neither. He came in on budget and in time. However, Jeff's impressive nature goes beyond just being on time and within budget. Jeff constantly communicated with us on progress and checked in often to make sure we were happy with the progress. Jeff made sure there were fair adjustments when small issues arose. For example, when I saw the tile that was delivered what not what we expected, he offered a fair solution immediately that did not delay our project. The most pleasing surprise has been the quality of Jeff's work. His bid came in the same range as other vendors. Since we live in a standard "builder grade" home we assumed we would get the same "standard" quality for the basement. This was simply not acceptable to Jeff. The quality of product and attention to detail was that of a custom home builder and has proven to be a fantastic value for his service. On top of everything else, Jeff was trustworthy, checking in at the house often, and friendly to us, our kiddos and our visiting family. I highly recommend Jeff and Total Construction and I will certainly call Jeff for future projects.
