After 3 weeks of visiting the store in person and leaving voice messages to return my calls, I had no response. There was never a groomer there when I made in person visits trying to get on the schedule for my 2 dogs. The app on my phone does not work well and I tried to use my desktop to make appts online but the website is VERY unfriendly when trying to make appts. I left another message 3 days ago to call and no call back again. My husband called earlier today to leave another message while I was on the desktop trying again to make an appt online after being on the computer for over an hour without success. He left a message to call him and I said you no they will not call back. They don't care. I finally was able to make the appts online a while later by rebooking an old appt that was done in a Richmond location. I shortly got a call from Petco saying they were cancelling my appts I made because "they would not work for someone who talked to them like that". I told them that we had been trying to contact them for 3 weeks without success and they said "You need to have patience because they have 2 groomers out for surgery and only one is here". I told her that waiting 3 days for them to return our call WAS patience and canceling was the only way they would call me was unprofessional. I called a different petco and they made my restored my cancelled appts on the phone. They were appalled at this petco's behavior. Steer clear of this location. You will have nothing but grief.

Hours are very inconsistent. Better call ahead or it might be a waste of a drive. Sign on door is only communication of changing hours. Never updated on website.

Oh no I'm starting my review and can't remember anyone's names to thank, but want to share that I've recently started going to the Ashland location for bunny equipment & accessories and I have been happy with the service every time. My little bunny is so much fun to spoil and Petco has a great selection of fun things for small mammals to chew and play with, as well as corner litter boxes litter, scoops, etc. I just bought her the little bed in the photo I am posting with this review and she immediately climbed in it and bunny-loafed. If they are out of stock in the store it's easy enough to order it online and have it shipped directly to your home. I've always found the Ashland store to be clean and well stocked. I'm very impressed with how healthy and well-maintained the for- sale animals are. Staff seem to be young adults in general, with enthusiasm for their jobs. It's exactly the right mixture of employees available to help but not a ton of pressure to interact until check out if you don't need anyone to find what you stopped in for. I've been there with all of my kids and staff was friendly and kind even though it can be a lot to see excited kids come thru the door (my kids like to run over and stare at the cages and aquariums of pets and fantasize about bringing all of them home). I get a good feeling when any business understands that children are part of the population, and treats them well, because honestly those are their future customers after all. YES: KID FRIENDLY

Should be less then one star. I went in there the other day and this guy TJ tried to talk to me about salt water fish even thought I have well over 20 years in the salt water hobby. He explained that you can clean tanks with bleach and fish would be fine. Is he stupid are do you not train people. Hope this guy is not a manager are this store is going to have mad people. Will never go into this place again stupid people working there. I'm go just extra 30 miles and go to Fredericksburg and ask people that care.

My Standard Poodle was groomed at Petco for first time yesterday. Paige groomed him per my instructions & he looks, smells, & feels great! She plucked his ears clean w/ no abrasions & his poodle feet have no nicks. Very pleased w/ service & how he was treated. Will continue to have him groomed there every 8 weeks.

Always very friendly. We go in at least once a week for at least one or our pets (dogs, cats, guinea pig and fish). The gentleman that has helped me with fish is extremely knowledgeable. Never had a problem!

I took my dog there for grooming for the first time since we moved to the area. He is only about 10lbs and 1.5 years old. He has been professionally groomed since he was 8 weeks old. There was only one "groomer" there and two apprentices. I made an appointment and at drop off was told it would take at least 4 hours. I agreed and left. I called about 3 hours later and was told that my dog had bitten the apprentice who put him back in the cage to wait for the groomer since "she couldn't/wouldn't deal with him" My dog doesn't bite, ever. He has never had any other complaints. I was shocked at the claim. Two hours later when picking up my husband was informed that we shouldn't bring our pet back until he had been properly trained. No worries. May be other people shouldn't take their pets there until all of the "groomers" are properly trained.

Rude staff, couldn't give me a training schedule. Told me the cost was "around $100 plus or minus $25" and hung up when I asked another question. This store is right down the road from me and has lost me as a customer.
