I was 350 miles from home on a rainy Sunday afternoon near Blacksburg when car troubles began. I managed to limp my car to The Bug Shop early the following day. Greg quickly diagnosed the problem, had the parts delivered overnight and the car repaired by the following afternoon. The folks at the shop (Jason, Greg, and others) did everything possible to get me back on the road as quickly as they could. I can't say enough about their mechanical expertise and their going the extra mile to help me when I was in a desperate situation. GOOD FOLKS ALL AROUND!Jeff Calcutt

Every time I have been here, everybody has been extremely kind, the service was great and quick, and I really appreciate how the mechanics will let you know everything that is going on with your car, giving updates on parts and other services. They will also not overcharge you. Excellent place!

Very mixed results here. On one hand, they were quickly able to solve a misfiring issue and an airbag light on my New Beetle. They also offered shuttle service for me which was a life-saver. On the other hand, they misdiagnosed an O2 sensor issue and it ended up doing in my catalytic converter (three years later I went to a VW tuning specialist, where they make $20K+ beetles for the Lemons and they sorted it out). I also had a last-minute job to change brakes and replace my handbrake cables; when I got it back the handbrake was tensioned improperly such that it lifted up the center console.

IMO this is the only place to take your vehicle. Jason and the guys at the bug shop have helped me time and time again. They’re reliable, give fair prices, are willing to get creative (as needed) with repairs, and are a joy to work with. They are truly wonderful mechanics and great at communicating options for repairs (to someone who is not super savvy). I will remain a loyal customer as long as I’m in Blacksburg!

Amazing team of mechanics. Have a Mk4 Jetta TDI and have taken it to this shop twice, both with great pricing and great work. First was heater hose replacement and CAM timing. Second was a full timing belt job, new thermostat and inspection. Car feels 150K miles newer after the timing belt job, i am amazed (i guess just dialing in a good injection timing / tune after install?) Jason knows what he's doing on these old TDIs. Communication is good and know I'm not getting scammed here.

My vehicle quit on me- had no idea where to take it because the shop my people always use closed. That mechanic highly recommended This place- The Bug Shop. They called with updates and just communicated effectively and my vehicle has been running great! They also had my vehicle back to me in like three or four days which was really fast for everything that was wrong with it and they had to order parts!

I have only high praise for the Bug Shop!!! When the engine of my 2012 VW Eos melted down without warning, Firestone recommended that it be towed to the Bug Shop. My beautiful car was there for five months while we negotiated with my insurance company to replace the engine, the Bug Shop then helped procure a new one that got held up in supply chain snafus, and finally installed this very finicky and unique turbo engine. They did an expert job!!! Months after picking up the old car with the new engine, it runs like a dream! The Bug Shop crew was so patient, documented everything thoroughly, and spent more time than ever could have been expected on the phone with my insurance company (which would only talk directly to the shop, not me). Thank you, Bug Shop, for your professionalism, expertise, outstanding customer service, and integrity!

I reached out to the bug shop to do a transmission swap on my 07 Nissan quest, And I was really impressed at first..They worked me in , had it done in a timely manner..Now here is where everything goes wrong. I had noticed that there was transmission fluid in my driveway, so I took it to my buddy's shop at Good Year in Christiansburg. What I was told Horrified me. They didn't replace my seal. They just put silicone around it instead of replacing it.. I reached out to the bugshop and they took 0 responsibility on their mistake.. So now I need to travel for the holidays and can't.. so I am out the 1000 bucks i paid and I still can't use my van ..All I want is them to make it right ..

They recommended that I take my car to a VW dealer who should fix it for free. Good, but the closest VW dealer is in Roanoke or Bristol(-:).

The folks at the Bug Shop are top notch!! Having German-made vehicles that need the attention to detail as we do, this is THE place to go. They truly take pride in their work and explain everything that is needed to remedy anything that arises.
