Dealing with Noonkester Real Estate was horrible. Overall, the property wasn't well maintained and there were a ton of ants. It was like pulling teeth to get NRE to respond and hire a legitimate exterminator. The refrigerator didn't seal properly and food would spoil. Again, it was like pulling teeth to get it replaced. There was at least one instance when access was made into the rental without asking permission and no repair was needed. It's critical to document everything with photos and know your rights. Camping is better than renting from NRE.

I actually had a great experience renting from Noonkester! We were shown the apartment, told all of the details of how to apply and were so happy when we were accepted! The day we moved in everything was working and in good condition (these are old apartments you have to remember that). I loved how each apartment was unique.Any maintenance problems were solved within a day or 2, and McKinley even came and unlocked my door on his off day because I was locked out. Communication was great with my calls and texts always being answered. We've since gotten our security deposit back with a few deductions that were bound to happen.A great experience and I'd recommend! The only downside is having to pay with checks but it doesn't take much to get a checkbook

Worst landlord in Blacksburg. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SCUMMY PEOPLE. They will not fix anything including major plumbing or AC issues. If you email them they will not respond. After we moved out they have now requested multiple services to be done when it’s their job to service their own apartments. Unbelievably bad and predatory rental practices that should not be allowed to have properties in this area.

Scoot Noonkester is a terrible human being and slumlord. He barely answers the phone and nevers returns a phone call if you speak to the secretary. He also told us that we can't find someone else to take over our sublease which is illegal. I don't even think he knows that these reviews exist. Apartments are also gross. Do not rent from this guy.

Was shown an apartment, the gentleman showing the property was rude, apartment was said to be ready but was gross and unclean. Looked at another that was acceptable, filled out an application. Was told to take it across town to file it at their office instead of just taking it on the spot. Back at the office I was informed that they work on a first come first serve arrangement and we had one person in front of us. The application fee was $40 and was told it was non refundable. That in my opinion is theft. If the people before us got the place there would be no need to run my info and do background checks. I basically just gave them $40 for absolutely nothing. My family was looking all around and wanted to take a chance. Since then we have received nothing. Not one call, text, email...NOTHING! Absolutely horrible business practice, employees, and apartments. I'm a very reasonable person and would never claim myself a perfect human. However I can say I will never do business this this outfit again. The honest thing to be done here is to return the money to those that are not getting the apartment. If its first come first serve...we never had a chance and they never even looked at our applications. I imagine they are doing this to so any people. Seems like a crime to me.

Just recently done some work on a property that Scott has under management, the weather had cause a delay in project but Scott worked with us until the weather allowed us to get it taken care of and from a Contractor point of view Noonkester Real Estate/ Scott done everything they were supposed to do when it was supposed to be done from the deposit on the job to a prompt final payment. I would definitely be happy to work for them again!

Did not even rent from them, but based off my experience just viewing a property I go the same vibe that everyone here has posted. The ad said the property was dog friendly, when dogs were asked while the property was being shown, his attitude was super negative. Said the ad didn't say that, after being shown wrong, he asked what kind of dog. After being told it had pit bull in his mixed breed, an immediate no was said. After mentioning his service animal license, he LAUGHED. said "I've been waiting for someone to pull that one on me. I'd like to talk to the therapist that issued a dog like that a license". Followed by calling me out, saying how a service member should not be allowed to have a service animal. Complete disrespect. Will never rent from this company.

Don't expect to get any of your security deposit back. I rented 10 years ago and still get aggravated thinking about these slum lords.

While they do offer locations pretty close to campus: buyer beware. Whatever you put down as your security deposit will be gobbled up for "cleaning". These properties have not been cleaned in decades, and I doubt that that was changed with my money. In addition to this grievance, I add to this the horrendous latency that it took to get simple requests done. Lights that would keep walkways lit and safe, were not changed for weeks. Even after communication.
Personally, I applaud the Machiavellian attitude Scott has to his leasers. But have I don't it again, I would avoid this business like the plague. Do not rent from this man. Do not support this realty.

I used to rent from his low-life father. He too, did not care about the properties he rented. My heat went out on Super Bowl Sunday, and when I called Jim, he did not want to come and fix the problem. He complained he was trying to watch the game, and I said, "so am I". He sent someone immediately. I have been thinking that maybe Scott would be better, but after reading the reviews posted, I now know I cannot trust to rent from him either. Thanks to all who posted and called him out for the creep he is, just like his father. I will look further for housing and would recommend the same for everyone else. I wish I could post with no stars, but, of course, they won't allow it.
