Kara does a wonderful job with my teen's hair. He can be particular about his cuts and Kara always listens carefully to what he wants and takes the time to get it just right. She keeps notes on the guard size, etc to help her remember his preferences for next time. Kara is very professional and I can't recommend her enough!

I like this salon for several reasons but mainly they don't double book working other chairs and can focus on my hair issues.. just a more relaxed atmosphere. Kara does a great cut and cares that ur happy with your hair.

I would give these ladies 10 stars if I could! Kara consistently gave me the best haircuts of my life! I regularly did highlights/lowlights with Kara and unlike previous salons I always left exactly with what I wanted and knew I could trust her to have me leave with my curls looking their best!! They also have the best prices in town (even affordable for me as a grad student) and my only regret is not finding them sooner.

I got a Brazilian blowout done by Kara. She’s amazing, friendly, has a gentle hand and seriously knows what she’s doing. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!!

I love this place! Went to school with Angie and taught both of her daughters (Kara actually does my hair) but even if I hadn't...they'd still treat me like family! Great prices and they listen to you rather than just whack!Services: Braids

I'm thrilled with my cut and style. With vey fine and limp hair its hard to find a good cut. But, here I found a great cut and she even showed me an amazing way to style it. My hair has never looked so good!

This salon is awesome! The stylists are wonderful! They are very personable and caring. Their tanning beds are great at very reasonable prices. It's easy to find with plenty of parking. When you walk into the salon, you feel right at home. Not like most other salons where you feel everyone is looking at you.

This salon is family owned (mother/daughter) - I called made an appointment and when I came in I was greeted by the friendly duo and got seated in the chair instantly. My stylist, Carol- the daughter was a great conversationalist, I was impressed by the fact that she was not heavy handed or "rough" She took her time and was cognizant about the length and style I requested also. They have tanning beds and there are different price options available for different budgets. As I was leaving Carol mentioned that their haircare products are 15% and if it's not in the salon and as long as it's name brand, salon quality- they can order it from their distributor ! And I'm happy with my new do' .

I have been to Shear Artistry just twice now, but in two visits I've had color applied, highlights, a cut and a color touch up, so having had a variety of services I think I can write a fair review. The owner, Angie herself, did my hair, and in all my years on this earth I have I had my hair done *many* times, and in all those many times, I have never before been so pleased. Angie listens, and she did/does exactly what I want, each time. The color has never looked more awesome, and my highlights blend in so naturally and beautifully it's hard to tell my hair has been done at all, other than that when I walk out it looks like $ a million! I also want to say that I have been to *several* salons in the Blacksburg/ Christiansburg general area, and if getting your hair done to your total satisfaction is more important to you than having it done in a glamorous looking place, (where you pay a great deal of the overhead for the looks of the joint), then this is the salon for you. If you want to go to a bossy stylist who thinks he/she knows better than you what you want or need, or has an elegant salon with crystal chandeliers, but doesn't knock him or herself out to be sure you're pleased, then this is not the salon for you, but if that's your top priority in a salon, I suggest you get out and about more.BTW, Angie is also a peach, and a great conversationalist, so that I have enjoyed my visits enough that when I'm ready to rock and roll, (okay, when I'm ready to leave), I'll think "how fast the time went by". One bit of advice, as this is a smaller business, (with just the 2 hair technicians-- artistic technicians, though!), you might get lucky and they'll fit you in on short notice, (I've seen them do it), but if they're booked, as is often the case with just the 2 stylists, it's best for you to set up your appointments a few days in advance.I wish I had discovered Shear Artistry sooner, because it is also located more conveniently for me than any of the others I've been to, but even if it were more of a drive, it would be well worth the extra time to get there, to get my hair royally pampered and feel so happy when I leave. I also like the fact that this is not a high turnover salon, because if you love your hair person and they leave, well, it can happen often in some salons, and there you are, having to start all over, and pretty often. Overall, the choice I made to try this place was a winner!Services: Hair coloring
