So glad Dr. Burgess came out of retirement years ago and reopened his practice. Dr.Burgess, Dr. Harmon, Paul, and the techs ( wish I knew all your names) were wonderful during my recent crisis. Trust me, if I am in need again, you are on my speed dial.

A great option to Harrisonburg vets. It can get busy Friday, they close at 12 pm so don't get caught out. Personally Drs. Harmon and Burgess are spot on. It's a vet, so it can get pricey, but they won't euthanize your animal without asking like someone else local does... And when our dog had to be put down, Dr. Harmon was great about it. You can also get special diet food for animals with health issues here. The receptionist is the friendliest chap in town, as well. I appreciate they have a live human being at the front desk. It's nice you aren't waiting on some harried vet tech to wander by the desk.

My husband and I had made the difficult decision to have our best buddy, Cisco, laid to rest knowing it needed to be done. We sat in examining room with Cisco waiting for staff to come, both in tears. Dr Burgess came in not saying a word. Grabbed the shears used on large dogs and shaved spot where needle would be placed, and still no word from Dr Burgess. I was holding Cisco waiting for Dr to say he's been injected and will only take a few seconds. Still nothing from Dr Burgess . Next thing I knew Cisco laid still and I asked if he'd been injected and the assistant finally said yes, he's gone. Dr Burgess just walked out of room with not a word. He was cold and uncaring. Will never take another one of our furry buddies back there

My Dog Snow got his second set of shots. They said he was a perfectly healthy pup. Within hour and a half he went into shock, sadly 7000$ I spent trying to save him, though I couldn't. Many answered questions. They told me he had extreme reaction to the shots. One Doctor told me he was over vaccinated for as little as he was. Had way too much in one time. His liver gave out. I do not know all what happened, all I know is left a happy lil boy before I went to work, when I got home my boy was being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Yes I am very mad. Why because I know he would be still with me if it wasn't for that appointment with your clinic. And sorry for your loss doesn't cut it for me. Who to blame? You guys saw my puppy last tell me who I should blame? Who I should be angry at? Why my dog died after seeing you guys?..Yes I am mad. I cry day and night for him, he grew up sleeping on my chest..now I sleep with his ashes, I am completely destroyed over this, and very depressed.

I have been taking my dog here since we got her. They are always very helpful and accommodating in making an appointment, and pleasant and knowledgeable when we are there.

I would not recommend Dr. Harmon who told the owner his cat would be ok and it died 5 hours later. She does seem to work well with pets or their owners.

My 75 year old father saved a cat that was dropped off at his house & brought it in his home and made his pet. The cat had lived with him for years. My father had the cat spayed couple years ago. The cat, Prissy, had been to Broadway Vet Hospital before for treatment of a place on her neck. My father took the cat to Dr. Harmon on Friday and was told the cat was infested with fleas. It was an indoor cat, never outside. He had never seen fleas on Prissy, in the house, on his dog or on himself. When Dr. Harmon seen the cat on a Friday (they close early Fridays) she said the cat needed to be put under because the cat was too difficult to handle. Previously when they treated the cat she did not need to be put under for treatment of the place on her neck. Dr. Harmon was worried about putting cat under due to her condition. Dr. Harmon than put the cat under, treated for infestation of fleas and sent cat home with my father. My father paid the $350 and took the cat home. The cat's temperature was 94 and cold when she sent the cat home, still in shock from the procedure and meowing. The cat died in five hours. No follow up call until the following Monday when my father told them the cat was dead. Dr. Harmen was rude to my father and rude to me when I called. I had to ask her twice not to raise her voice to me. My father is very upset about this cat he spent everyday with. He is retired and spends a lot of time with his animals. He did not know the cat had fleas or would of treated the cat. No one had seen any fleas on Prissy. My father spent $350 of his social security monies to save Prissy so he definitely cared about his cat. Dr. Harmon was insensitive, heartless, cruel and extremely rude!

First they made us wait for our routine shot visit for a dog having puppys. I understand. Then the shot had a bad reaction and my cat couldnt walk the next day. They didnt want to see us cause they were booked??? Guess only we have to wait. Finally they took him in. Kept him all day and didnt charge a dime? Guessing they messed something up. Then like an idiot I took my poor dog there for knee surgery. Lasted 6 whole months. The entire time I said he isnt doing as well as you said he would. Was told I have a dramatic breed. I do but that isnt a 6 month excuse OR while the knee already needs surgery again. My poor dog has to go through another huge surgery and I have to pay for another expensive procedure due to pure ignorance. Found out after it failed its not recommended for large dogs. Mine is 86lbs. Nor is the method used recognized by other surgeons. I guess not when it only lasts 6 months and now the piece used is inflamed.
