Personnel is really attentive with follow ups and providing me with multiple options. I really trust their advice and they always have flexibility when scheduling with them.

I've noticed many people love their Veterinarian until something goes wrong: a misdiagnosis, the inability to figure out what is wrong with their animal, failure to get a same day appointment, inefficient staff, billing concerns and maybe more. I'd offer more than 5 stars for Burke Animal Clinic if I could for the following reasons: Dr. Elizabeth Johnson. Dr. Johnson is professional, knowledgeable, kind, considerate and has been incredibly compassionate in caring for my sweet miniature poodle (and me) every day for the last week when my dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I'll share details about this specific encounter but I'll also add, this is only one example of many interactions since I've been a customer at this clinic with my animals. I had to take my dog in for IV fluids for 4 business days in a row. Dr. Johnson offered for me to be able to do this at home to minimize the cost which I greatly appreciated, but she understood when I responded that I can't do needles. It was unknown that I would need to bring my dog in all of these days in the beginning but as we took one day at a time, he proved to be a slow little responder to the treatment. Dr. Johnson takes her time in sharing what I need to know as a dog owner. She answers all of my myriad of questions without making me feel like any are silly, unreasonable or over-the-top (I have a type A personality and usually have SO many questions). During this past week, I asked if there were more things we "could" do to test or treat my dog because I am a worrier and I was asking "What if it's something else? What if this doesn't work?" Dr. Johnson offered additional options but also shared that her professional opinion that the additional things we discussed were unlikely necessary at the stage we were at because my dog was (albeit slowly) responding to our treatment. In closing (but I have two more things to add after this closing remark about Dr. Johnson), there are few vets I trust as much as Dr. Johnson. I sure hope she's there for many, many more years. Burke Animal Clinic is lucky to have her and so are her patients. In addition to the experience I shared above, most of the entire staff at BAC has also been incredibly kind. A month ago I had to euthanize our 17-year-old little mixed dog. I had the procedure done at home with another (traveling Veterinarian), mentioned it a few days later to the staff at BAC and they sent me a sweet, hand-written card with a condolence letter. That sure is above and beyond in my opinion! I've also seen one other vet at BAC, Dr. Blevins and had a positive experience with her, too. So, if you're looking for a new place to take great care of your animal, I highly recommend Burke Animal Clinic.

This is the most professional and loving animal clinic we have ever been to. Our two Shih Tzus are 14 and being in the military, we have visited many good Veterinarians. However, Dr Herrity and Dr. Colvin have gone above and beyond helping resolve our dog's health issues when no one else could. They give a thorough diagnosis and always follow up with phone calls answering all of our questions. When we thought it was the end for them, they helped nurse them back to health.

We were extremely happy with the care our mastiff (with a chronic heart condition) received from the time we moved to the area until she passed away in October of 2017. We continued to take our lab here and when we brought a new puppy home, we brought him as well. You will pay some pretty hefty fees at this clinic - they wanted nearly $800 to have my lab puppy neutered (I found another clinic, paid for additional medication to prevent nausea, laser cutting to promote healing, etc. and it was $350). We paid more than $950 to have a canine removed and they are asking for $2.2k to have 3 lipomas removed. They tend to recommend the gold level standard of care - which is fine if you have unlimited resources and want to pay for testing and procedures that can be avoided. I brought my 9.5 year old lab in due to obvious discomfort with her back leg. After stepping on the scale and weighing in at nearly 10lbs lighter than 2 months before - the doc made the recommendation that we have X-rays and blood testing done because cancer was the first thing that came to mind. Of course I want to make sure my pup isn't suffering so I agree to this - ultimately she had to be sedated for the X-rays. Come to find out the scale is BROKEN and weighing light. $771 later my dog has some swelling and will be fine. Had the scale been accurate, I wouldn't have agreed to X-rays, I would have gone with anti inflammatory medication, rest and recheck in a week (as we have the other half a dozen times my dog has bruised/bumped her leg) and saved myself nearly $600 in X-rays, bloodwork, and anesthesia. I called and the doc said I would make the same recommendation if the scale was accurate, no apology or offer to make it right. I'm ANGRY that my 9.5 year old dog was put under unnecessary anesthesia. They have lost me as a customer, and lost my recommendation as a great place to take pets.

I can't say enough good things about Burke Animal Clinic. Called in to get an appointment on a Sunday morning for my ailing cat. They were able to fit me in, no problem, and the standard of care was tremendous. Dr. Johnson walked me through all the diagnostic options - including price - and helped me arrive at what I felt was a sensible course of action. Both she and the tech, Ellen, patiently answered my questions about treatment, and both were very loving towards my stressed-out cat. All in all, gave me over an hour of their time - not because they're slow, but because my cat had two problems, and I had a lot of questions. Dr. Johnson even called later in the afternoon to follow up on one of the test results. We've been perfectly happy with the other vet we've been going to since moving to Burke seven years ago, but I had a very sick cat, and that vet didn't have Sunday hours. After my experience at Burke Animal Clinic, I'm switching to them. They were that good.

We adopted our Lab/Shepard mix in May and were given a list of vets from the rescue agency. After doing some "homework", we decided on Burke Animal Clinic. I had a lot of questions on our pup's first visit due to us having small breed dogs (Pomeranians) up to this point. We were walking into an entirely new experience. Everybody was so patient with me and answered all my questions. We have been extremely happy with the care that they've given to our furbaby.

My 19 year old cat just had her yearly check up with Dr. Colvin at Burke Animal Clinic. He is always, caring, gentle and gives me options on solving an issue. He is concious of costs and provides up front estimate. With the help of staff and doctors my cat is enjoying her senior years. These caring folks have helped with major and minor illnesses over the years and are now giving my sweet girl the kind of pain free life all animals deserve. I trust their expertise and appreciate their compassionate manner.
