Shelby is so amazing and so kind. They helped me with my husky’s ear issues.

Overall, we had such a great experience at Pender Chantilly. The staff was friendly and attentive. The Veterinary Tech, Shelby, was so nice and made sure to really pay every bit of attention to my pet. During the visit, we ended up needing far more services than we had come in for and Shelby was calm and kind to my dog, taking time with her when she was anxious and scared and making her feel safe. Dr. Valencia was beyond helpful, taking special interest in underlying problems my dog had that other Veterinary Doctors had tried to work on without much help. They all took the time to really try and root out the problem and really get the best treatment options available all while absolutely keeping my dogs wellbeing at the forefront of the visit. I would absolutely want this team helping all of my pets every single time.

This was our first time at the Chantilly location as we are normally go to the Fairfax location. Dr. Valencia instantly connected with my little dude Hank (kitten). I am very grateful for her kindness towards Hank and his hurt tail. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Valencia providing care for my other animals!

Both Dr. Valencia and her Tech Shelby at Pender Vet in Chantilly VA were fantastic today with our dog. As they have been before. Both are very caring and sharp. Dr. Valencia’s medical knowledge and her explanations of what is going on, and if our dog’s care plan, are fantastic

I just brought my dog to Pender Chantilly for a checkup with Dr Valencia and Vet Tech Melissa. I appreciate their kindness with my dog and patience with my questions. From the front desk to the exam room, this was a very positive experience. I highly recommend this practice.

Made a follow up appointment for bloodwork for my dog. When I get there I’m told the test must be given after taking her medication. They should have known this when I made the appointment and made sure the timing of her medication was correct before I came in. Now I have to come back. Not happy about it. They need to train the appointment staff to check the chart instructions.

I went to this veterinary clinic back in 2020/2021 for my cat's annual check up and shots update. As there were still COVID protocols in place we waited in the car - no big issue there. My issue with this facility was that the doctor or nurse called and informed me that my cat needs to have all of his teeth removed ASAP and that it would cost slightly over $2K. Of course I did not take the clinic's word for it as my cat's primary vet did not even mention anything of the sort.I than moved out of state and took my cat to another vet about 3 months later - I insisted the doctor take a look at his teeth - doctor said there was zero issue outside of typical build up.Here I am nearly 2-3 year later and still not issue. I cannot believe the wanted me to have all of my cat's teeth removed. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion of this place recommended an operation for your furry loved one.

Went to our new Veterinary Centre yesterday. Pender Vertinary Center was great! We have 2 Shar Peis that are less than cooperative at their vet appts. Dr. Valencia and her tech Melissa allowed me to hold my fur babies as they drew blood and gave vaccinations allowing for less stress on my pups. We have definitely found our new Veterinarian! Thanks Dr. Valencia and Melissa for a great vet experience!

Dr. Valencia and Tech Melissa did an amazing job with our anxious Aussie! We booked a last minute appointment after a morning of vomit and diarrhea, and they listened to our concerns, his history, etc. A small but important note to me: Dr. Valencia had ACTUALLY read his file before coming in and commented about an incident he’d had as a puppy ages ago that I hadn’t mentioned! In my experience with vets, reading an animal’s file is a rare but wildly helpful quality. They were very thorough in their exam of him, and were able to diagnose his issue correctly. They even took the time to do a quick biopsy on a lump I had found but wasn’t sure if it was concerning (luckily it was not!). Appreciated their attention to detail, gentleness with our nervous pup, top notch listening and research skills, and thoroughness of the exam and symptoms. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back to both Dr. Valencia and Tech Melissa!

We brought our Golden in to see Dr. Valencia for the first time and she was AMAZING! She was very friendly, professional, and courteous and she went out of her way to make our dog feel comfortable (she even sat on the floor!). She was very thorough and interested in hearing what we had to say, and she even looked through our dog's health records before the appointment so she was familiar with our dog's history. She assessed quickly and thoroughly and created a treatment plan for our dog and explained everything really well. She called us the next evening with test results and even though they were closing she was willing to call in the prescription to the Fairfax office so we could pick up the medication and get our sweet pup started on it last night instead of today. She is a great vet and we would highly recommend her! So good, in fact, that we have decided that we will try to see her whenever we have to visit the vet! :-).

Refused emergency medical care for my rabbit who had been seen before because they were "at capacity". My rabbit has stasis which is an immediate issue and very likely fatal. They rufused to even schedule an appointment for the morning. They did all of this knowing there is no other exotics vet in the area and that my rabbit might die without care. Incredibly heartless.

Pets are part of your family. My 2 dogs are special to me. So, when something is done to them by a business I want others to be aware. I've boarded my 2 year old ridgeback at Pender Pet Services since he was a pup. Recently another ridgeback was added to our team. I paid Pender's charge to provide group daycare services to the new puppy, to get him acclimated to playing with other dogs. Day one they introduced him to over 12 dogs immediately. He was overwhelmed. This is not what should've been done. However it was done so they could then try to get me to pay for a more expensive one on one class, which he did not need. I called them and again requested that he be gradually integrated with other dogs. They refused and bluntly told me to come and get my puppy. Maybe they were not a good fit. I asked to speak with the manager and was informed she was not in. I requested the contact details for the owner and that was refused as well. This is how you treat a customer you've had a good relationship with for 2 years? Two years into 2-3 times a week daycare and my dog's picture was not even on their wall. No regard for him or his parent. I am sharing this in hopes that someone else won't experience this terrible customer service and treatment from Pender.

I have a 65-lb Airedale puppy who has been to the vet quite a bit due to a neurological condition. He’s been getting more and more nervous at each visit, ending in a struggle to get even basic preventive care done. Luckily we came across the most patient and understanding team at Pender.Dr. Arana Valencia is a true Fear-Free veterinarian. She saw my pup’s increasing anxiety, stopped what she was doing, and made a plan to return the following day with the help of some sedative medications. She was cognizant that forcing him through uncomfortable, scary procedures would traumatize him and increase his anxiety with future visits. This holistic approach showed me that she cares about an animal’s physical and mental well-being equally.Even with sedation he was a very difficult patient, barely calmer than the previous day. Sharon, the vet tech that helped us today, is a gift from the gods. She took her time getting to know my dog and found ways to desensitize him to the kind of touch needed to successfully draw blood and give his vaccines. I was sure he would squirm away and we would have to return on a higher dose of medication, but she calmed him down enough to finish the job in one visit.I’ve been in human healthcare for about a decade, so I know how challenging it can be to maintain composure when a patient won’t let you do your job— it’s quite a headache. I am so grateful to Sharon and Dr. Valencia for their kindness and phenomenal skills. Pender is lucky to have them.

Fundamentally at its core, a medical center for pets with staff that know how to deal with both patients and pet owners.Thank you all for working hard and with patience treating our family dog.Obviously a bit biased,I’ve not yet had a bad experience after several years of visiting this centre, but will update if needed.
