I'm a 70 year-old man who has worked out for 45 years, in gyms on four continents. To me, ACAC is the thinking person's health club. It is run by people who are managers who also happen to be enthusiastic about health and fitness. Standards are high in every area -- maintenance, employee expertise, programs and equipment. This is the place other gym owners need to study.

I go all different times of the day and week. The staff is always very friendly. I must say, Tim, does an excellent job of cleaning and sanitizing. He is always actively cleaning, mopping, dusting the entire time I am there.

Working from home means that I have to make a special trip to the gym, and motivation comes easy when I'm headed to acac Pantops. My schedule has been erratic during the pandemic, so the flexibility to get to the gym at all hours has been incredibly helpful to curtail my stress levels and continue with my fitness goals. The facility is always clean and practicing social distancing is never a problem.

When I joined I specifically asked about the cancellation policy because I had a feeling the gym wasn’t going to work for me. I was told I could cancel at any time. Fast forward a month and a half, it takes over two weeks to get someone to speak with me despite numerous inquiries. They tell me I have to pay for an entire year (I never signed anything). They asked me to come to the gym twice to discuss with me and both times I arrived to find that the person wasn’t there. Finally they agreed to cancel. I check my statements and I’m still being billed. They tell me that I am being charged for an extra month because they processed the cancellation after the 20th (my initial cancellation request was a week prior to that date). Really questionable business practices. I have started asking around and this experience seems to be quite common.

There must be better Gyms in Charlottesville! The manager at the ACAC gym, Kendall Skeen, is belligerent and rude to clients. It looks like we're not the only ones who have had a terrible experience at ACAC. The crises that emerged from the sit-down meeting that we had with their sales person, Chuck, has even led to a - Better Business Bureau complaint for Adverting Fraud. Before signing a contract with this ACAC gym, you should go out the the BBB of Central Virginia to find out why you SHOULD NOT JOIN THE ACAC GYMS of Charlottesville. See link here- We have been offered the PREP program at ACAC, located at 500 Albermarle Sq, Charlottesville. ALL 5 of the ACAC gyms are the same and should not be trusted. However, even though we did not meet Kendall or Kelly in person, only by email, and we only met Chuck in Membership in person, at the 500 Albermarle location, per Chuck Kendall was throwing us out of the gym while signing because in a "he - said she - said style of communication- he told us that we did not understand the PREP program and that our appointments were being cancelled. All 3 pf these ACAC employees-- Kendall, Chuck and Kelly have the "Opposite" of what you would expect for being a NEW customer- they are judegmental and rude-- they are a FRAUD. Their PREP program does not even exist!! -- just while sitting with Chuck in membership and laughing at how funny he is-- the woman in PREP- Kelly wanted to refuse the membership to us for no reason and the GM Kendall SKeen does whatever Kelly wants. In the middle of signing- with Chuck and for no justifiable reason) and caused a scene, and escorted us out after he gave me our Keys for entry into the gym and I have given them a credit card! Chuck ,when after offering us the PREP program for the 3rd time in 2 months and also after handing the attached - appointment reminder cards- your gym broke our appointments. I hope that you are aware that Kendall Skeen is a very rude manager, and has no experience proving customer service, or in trouble-shooting problems. It's hard to believe that he was trained to throw out nice people, and potentially damage your Gym's reputation through his performance. 1) I just sent additional documents (to the Better Business Bureau) to prove that ACAC is a fraud when it comes to advertising and written offers, including copies of our Signed PREP program forms form our primary care doctor. 3) We'll give you one more week, until April 30 2019 to show those documents to our referring Dr to the PREP program at ACAC. 4) The factual-based review of our bad experience with ACAC - 500 Albermarle SQ is posted live in Yelp and now in Google. 5) If you can complete our sign-up and offer us a better price after the first 2 months because we have been' beaten up ' by Kendall Skeen your GM then it's urgent that you invite us back to ACAC today. 6) Dear ACAC- The review on Yelp and Google can also be removed if you can "come around", apologize to us and offer us the PREP program and a membership at ACAC if we are still interested. What I dislike about Kendall Skeen's management style, is that instead of addressing head-on the problems that caused the customers to become angry or upset. He's just ignoring the problem with how ACAC's reputation will be affecting by the poor treatment that we received from his staff. Instead, he wants to argue with me on the phone, and tell me to just go away, even though Chuck in membership sold us on ACAC PREP and based upon all of your offers, in writing and in person both. This will only cause ACAC to lose members and potential members. -JB
