I had scheduled an appointment for my dog and had spent quite a bit of time on the phone with both a receptionist and tech describing his issues and needs. Unfortunately right before my appointment I was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital where I spent several days and was unable to reach out. I was then sent home in pain prior to having surgery. When I called to let them know what it happened and apologize profusely I was first strung along by the person I spoke to first who said oh sure I understand. Let me speak with the doctor in the morning and I’ll call you first thing I never received a call. When I called later that afternoon, the woman I spoke to was so disgusting. I couldn’t believe it. I feel terrible for missing the appointment however, I did not have control over my hospitalization. She nastily said sorry we won’t be seeing your dog.

Warm and thoughtful staff. Very compassionate and knowledgeable Dr. It can be hard to find a vet that doesn’t put money before an animal’s wellbeing.

My husband and I can’t recommend this team more. Over the years we’ve had cats and dogs of different sizes, temperaments and life stages and they always provide the upmost guidance, expertise, and kindness. We’ve also seen every member of the team at this point and they are all phenomenal. My dogs are especially appreciative that the vet tech will sit on the floor and give them lots of love and treats to make it a positive experience. We’re so lucky to have found them!

The doctors here are very thorough and care about your pet. We have 3 cats that see all three of the doctors here and we love them. Reception is very friendly and their communication is timely and personal. We can't recommend this vet office enough.

My dog has been suffering from anxiety since last December. Long story short - my wife and I had a baby and then moved. When Seth was born, Oscar (my Beagle) didn't get the attention he was used to.Every time it thunderstorms, Oscar shakes, drools, and hyperventilates. I'd wrap a towel around him and hold him for hours. I was hopeful it would go away on its own or get better over time.I found VCA on Google based on the reviews, location, time availability, and the fact they accept Care Credit. Dr. Freedman lit up when he saw Oscar! Come to find out, he loves Beagles. Dr. Freedman was really great - he spent valuable time with Oscar, and once he checked him over, Oscar was diagnosed with anxiety. No surprise there! But based on his age and ability to get around, Oscar doesn't have anything wrong with his legs. Freedman answered all my questions and told me a few things I wasn't aware of before. He prescribed Oscar two medications for his anxiety and gave him two shots - rabies and distemper. Oscar can be a big baby, but he's always my baby. VCA accepted a $20 coupon online for first-time customers, which was really cool, and the service from the vet (Freedman) felt genuine...so I'll definitely bring Oscar back when he needs to be seen again (I just wish they were a little bit closer). Thanks, guys! :)

The staff here have always been great, but recently they went above and beyond to make sure my sweet old pup was comfortable for her final moments. ❤️

I am a full-time RVer, and my furry travel companion and I were camping in Natural Chimney, VA, when she first came up limping on her back leg. I took her to the emergency vet, and they diagnosed her with a torn ACL. Luckily, they recommended and spoke highly of Dr. Freedman, and I know why. I called the office and immediately knew this was a different animal hospital; they care about your pet and their care. They worked me in to see the doctor quickly. Then when we met Dr. Freedman, we understood why they are devoted to customer service and care for your pet. He did a thorough exam; he talked to me and explained everything in English I could understand. She had to have surgery and stay with them for two nights. The staff and Dr. Freedman texted me pictures of her after surgery, up and walking, and updates twice a day. The communication was genuinely unbelievable. You can email Dr. Freedman anytime with a question, and he will answer, which is very unusual these days. When I picked her up, they had a detailed PT recovery plan for her written out for me and emailed to me. The good part is they don't just give it to you; they honestly follow up by email and text to check on her progress. They also request you to send them videos of her walking and doing her exercises to keep an eye on her recovery. Believe me, when I say this, they are not like a lot of vets just trying to see how many animals they can see and bill in one day. Dr. Freedman and his staff honestly care about your animal as much as you do! I am sixty-one years old and have always had a dog. Dr. Freedman is the best vet I have ever met. I have already decided that our travels will be in Virginia once a year for her yearly check-ups. I will be honest with you this is an eight-week process. The progress in the first couple of weeks is slow but be patient. Your dog will return to its full self in the next few weeks, just like before the surgery. One piece of advice is do not push the recovery; take your time and let your dog heal.

I drove from Southside Richmond to Charlottesvile just so I can have Dr Freedman care for my dogs. Little did I know he would charge me twice what he charged on multiple previous appts within 6 months, but he did not actually perform the services that I paid for. I contacted my attorney and he recommended we file a civil case against for consumer fraud to recover the almost $3,000 he stole from by not performing these services. I decided to cut my losses and use a more reputable veterinarian without any fines and penalties against their license in the state of VA instead. Its public records, btw, that he has been cited for false representation resulting in the death of an animal-twice.

Best vet experience! Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable! I learned so much. We got so much info and two vaccines. They sent us home with prescriptions and all the info we needed about them. Noodles made some new best friends. Will definitely be back.

The absolute BEST veterinarians and vet techs/assistants you can find. They are always courteous and kind and a wealth of knowledge. My fur kids are always seen on time and are handled with tons of TLC. I can’t imagine taking my animals anywhere else. I have complete confidence in the care they provide. The peace of mind I have bringing my pets here has kept me returning for over 14 years. Thank you Dr. Freedman and your amazing assistants! You are appreciated beyond measure.

We take both of our cats to VCA and love working with them! Everyone who works there is super nice and very friendly. Dr. Cain sees both of our cats and they are consistently able to find the issue and treat it, usually really quickly. I've called and been able to schedule appointments both in advance and on the same day, which has been super nice. They are also really transparent about their prices and a lot of times can quote you on things before you have them done. They are consistent about giving itemized bills as well and are totally comfortable answering questions. I've had issues in the past with overcharging and not billing correctly and this is one thing VCA does VERY well. They send me the bills via email and have a text line that is really convenient to use. HIGHLY recommend taking your pets to VCA, we've had a wonderful experience with them so far and are really happy with their service.
