Crossfit Charlottesville is an excellent place to train. Ive been part of a few different Crossfit gyms as I travel often with work, and this is by far one of the best. Jon and his staff are concerned with athlete safety, first and foremost. They provide a clean environment for athletes of all levels to workout. Class area as well as open gym area provide a space for people who want to train with a class or on their own. Equipment allows for a variety of different programming to be completed. White boards for writing personal workouts down and individual rags for cleaning all add to the little things that make this place a great gym.Onsite showers are a big plus.Jon and his coaches are all committed to following programing and working hard. They are all in great shape and push their members to be their best as well. I really enjoy working out here!

I was in Charlottesville for the morning and decided to drop in. The process to sign up and pay was easy. Coach Lauren welcomed me to the gym and showed me around. The members were friendly and inviting. Coach Lauren paired me with another athlete and the WOD went great. I will definitely drop in again when I’m in the area.

Love this place! I was a member for about 10 months until I moved out of Charlottesville. The coaches are outstanding, each very knowledgeable in both the set programs as well as alternatives/scaling. I found the other members to be very friendly and welcoming which made for a great vibe. Highly recommend!

I love this place. I find the coaches to be exceptional. They work individually with each student in the group class setting to help modify and meet each students individual needs. They demonstrate all the movements (which is very helpful as I am only in my first year of doing CrossFit). I have never seen a coach be anything but warm and welcoming. I have had the privilege of visiting other CrossFit gyms around the country and I feel very grateful my gym here in Charlottesville seems to be the best quality coaching. The coaches also offer personal training and all hold degrees in something equal to physical therapy, kinesiology and chiropractic medicine. They have a good eye for watching body mechanics and will correct your alignment as you move. They also help make the movements attainable to any level of ability. Crossfit is nothing like I thought it was going to be! Don’t let the word CrossFit scare you. These people will welcome you and take care of you while helping you attain physical fitness.

2 stars for the space - it’s very useful to have separate spaces for classes and for athletes who follow different programming. However, my main intent for this review is to affirm that Nick Meyers’ experience was not unique. Nick happened to be part of a second group that didn’t “fall in line” with the C’Ville programming and were “invited to leave” - those folks have found a new, happy, relaxed and welcoming space. It is unfortunate that the owner of C’Ville runs his business with disregard to members and coaches who are not willing to conform to his expectations. For a true CrossFit experience, I would recommend another facility.

I joined CrossFit Charlottesville in 2019 because I wanted to be more intentional with my training and learn proper form. The coaches were great, but with the programming implemented, I couldn't go 2 months without experiencing an overuse injury. Finally, after a bad shoulder injury that limited my ability to train in 2021, I decided to leave.During this time, I tried out a variety of programming (PVRN, CompTrain, etc.) and landed on Functional Body Building by Marcus Filly. I followed his "Persist" track for nearly a year before realizing in 2022 that CrossFit Charlottesville was under new ownership and that the new owner was implementing their own version of "Persist" in the gym! As soon as I realized this I was back. Here's the thing with a lot of other CrossFit gyms -- the programming is often at a high technical level and all about heavy lifting and 100% intensity. This can cause newer members who aren't there yet in their fitness journey to feel discouraged. CrossFit Charlottesville isn't that. It's a safe space where the coaches and the programming meet folks where they are on their journey. The training here is scalable and places an emphasis on safety. The format and intensity of each day varies and leaves you feeling good and not broken The owner Jon, has done an AMAZING job integrating "Persist" into a 60-minute session. It's sooo hard to fit this good of a workout in, in 60 minutes or less, but he does it.And most importantly IMO, the vibe is great. Everyone is super friendly, and Jon is super intentional with his interactions. He always makes a point to say hi to members walking in and makes everyone feel comfortable. If you are looking for a welcoming space with intentional programming that focuses on YOUR GOALS and will leave you feeling strong & healthy in the long run, then this is your spot.

As most reviews show, I too would have given this gym 5 stars a few years ago. New ownership took over and CrossFit Charlottesville has been on a slow downward spiral ever since. An inflated ego and lack of leadership from the owner has turned this gym into a toxic environment. He fires good coaches and kicks out his members because he doesn't like them. It's the least professional way to run a business that I've ever seen. Additionally, the programming is just "Functional Bodybuilding by Marcus Filly", called "Persist". He just posts the same workout that Filly posts so if you want to save some money and have a less expensive gym space, you can just subscribe to that for much cheaper. It's not really CrossFit, and it's not really bodybuilding though. This gym has lost its identity and it's sad because it used to be a great place.

My intent was to come on here and make sure everyone knew that Nicholas Myers' experience with the gym is unique and a result of his own disrespect towards the space, others, & the owner, but I don't really think I need to. When a business has only ONE 1-star rating, you know it's for a reason.Crossfit Charlottesville's programming isn't all about wrecking your body, it's about performance and longevity. Make no mistake, it is WORK, but it's the type of work that isn't going to make you want to die the next day or leave you injured in a few weeks. The programming makes you feel strong, confident, & ready for the next day. The owner Jon does a phenomenal job making each and every member feel welcome and heard and there's no place I would've rather began my fitness journey at.Whether you're new to fitness or new to the area, this gym is badass and you should come check it out. Plus, it looks like there's some membership spots opening up!

Awesome gym! Dropped in this week and was very impressed. John Hanna was super knowledgeable, a fantastic coach and so professional. The gym was squeaky clean with great amenities. The open gym feature that crossfit charlottesville offers is such a rare find and an incredible perk!10/10 recommend-can't wait to go back when I'm in town next!

Wow! What a great place!! The owner Jon has the perfect balance of intensity and compassion to encourage, motivate and keep me going. Jon is the most knowledgeable trainer I've ever met. He does a fantastic job of personalizing training based upon his client's goals and abilities. I'm SO IMPRESSED with him! His facilities are spacious, CLEAN, and include wide variety of equipment in sufficient numbers.

CrossFit Charlottesville is one of the best CrossFit gyms I’ve been to, and the community is second to none. I started at CFC 4 months ago, and in this short time I have not only greatly improved my overall fitness, but I’ve found a community that encourages and inspires me. The coaches are kind, engaging, and very knowledgeable; they deliver thoughtful feedback and foster a welcoming environment. During my hardest semester so far as a UVA student, CrossFit Charlottesville became a place where I could reset, gain a little perspective, and become a mentally and physically stronger person. If you’re interested in achieving your fitness goals alongside wonderful people, look no further than CrossFit Charlottesville!

I have nothing but great things to say about CrossFit Charlottesville. The gym is clean and well-equipped. Jon and the entire coaching staff are incredibly knowledgable and accommodating to all skill levels. The programming is excellent and the community is one of the best around. Highly recommend to any Charlottesville residents or drop-in visitors.
