I've had really good experiences here with prescriptions, shots, and help with over-the-counter medications. In particular, Tawni is always knowledgeable, helpful, and fun--a great and rare combination! The location and late hours work well for those of us in the Downtown area.

This review is from my experience with the pharmacy summer of 2022. First, it's GREAT that there's a pharmacy in the mall. This location is well stocked. My review is for the tall White man with the tattoos whose name I unfortunately don't remember who was so gracious and helpful to me each time I came in for something -- replacement for travel tooth brush, vitamin c, zinc, that sort of thing. I felt really safe in that space with him there, as if any trouble broke out he'd protect me. He was caring, friendly, and attentive of a person. I'm saying this as a Black woman - that gentleman made me feel very safe in the store he worked at. It's not the pharmacy or what I went to buy, these five stars are for that gentleman whose name I wish I remembered. Some bad racist shit went down in that mall not long ago. These five stars are for that man who made me feel safe. For his humanity.

One star is a stretch. This is by far the worst CVS I have ever experienced, and I have been to many over the years. They don't open until 10 am, and when they are open, they never answer the phone. Terrible service. Very frustrating when you're trying to get a script filled. God forbid you have a sick child. Don't use this place.

This review is solely off of the restroom. The store itself is fairly tidy, but then you use the restroom and you feel like you're in a war zone. My friends and I needed to use the restroom and while in the downtown mall area and we were told by another local business that this was the closest one. The restroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned since before COVID. The level of unsanitary conditions in that restroom were gross. Trash piled up, no paper towels, no toilet paper (thank goodness for having my own pocket tissue) & urine on the floor. The smell was awful even with wearing a mask. Someone needs to address this restroom ASAP and it needs some TLC ASAP before someone gets sick.

I LOVE THIS STORE. The workers are like an extended family. They know your name. They remember me and what I bought. They ask how I am and actually listen to my answer. Yes, the store is old. But that's the charm. A lot of us go in every day. Maybe I don't buy something every day but it just makes me feel good.

I stopped here today to get some snacks with my friend not knowing that we would be racially profiled by an employee. After we checked out an employee came up to me and him and asked us to empty our pockets, so we did and the worker saw that I had an open bag of sunflower seeds. He asked me where I got those and I said from my house and the employee said that I was lying. The employee was harassing men and my friend for about 10 minutes saying that we couldn't leave.

It looks like every other CVS except that it is Koch smaller- sort of like you have a rectangle store... a little difficult to find the items- i had to ask the employees to help me. I did sense some attitude when I asked if things were rung up correctly. It's hard to tell without looking at the receipt so no attitude necessary. It is a little bit odd that their were items there that the store Claire's sells . Otherwise I like using my extra bucks before they expire so I can get my rewards!

I stopped by here a few times during the summer of 2019, when I spent several weeks in Charlottesville on business. A few times it was to pick up essentials I'd run out of (e.g. contact lens solution or toothpaste), and once or twice I got a coupon that I wanted to use that was going to expire before I left Charlottesville. This location has slightly less convenient hours than most other CVS locations I've been to either in the suburbs of Maryland or in DC; if I wanted to pick something up in the morning before work, they only open at 8 AM so it was sometimes cutting it close to when I wanted to arrive at the office. The good thing was the store was never busy when I swung by in the mornings, so I was able to get in and out in a few minutes. Since it's located on the mall, there are usually a few homeless people sleeping around the store before it opens; they seem to congregate more in front of the CVS than any of the other shops on the mall. The first time I used my Google Maps for walking directions (my very first day in Charlottesville, when I wasn't at all familiar with the area), it landed me at the back door of the CVS, which is (understandably) not open, so just keep that in mind if you use a GPS and it takes you anywhere other than the main mall area.

Because this CVS is on the promenade, it's always incredibly crowded, disorderly and unpleasant. There's a public restroom on the premises and it was one of the worst facilities I've ever seen! It was disgusting, literally crap everywhere. Of course I couldn't use it! I was appalled and when I let the employees know, they apologized and told me that due to the constant stream of people in and out, they have a hard time keeping this place clean. They also said that people abscond with the paper products in the restrooms so it's never stocked. Warning! Avoid this pharmacy like the plague or you'll be sorry. Gross!

A small but decent CVS. It's an "urban" location along the pedestrian shopping area in downtown Charlottesville. It still seemed to have all the stuff you'll need at a CVS including personal care and makeup and snacks. I was able to find an inexpensive case of bottled water to take with me and it rang up easy enough. It's A-OK.

I was in there earlier today I brought in a "reusable" PayPal gift card. I went to try and put some money on it. Which I have used multiple CVS locations. A short old woman behind the counter would not let me use it. I had my money out ready to put out on the card. She took it saying it was not usable. And it says on the card re-usable. She pointed me in the direction where the gift cards are. And I couldn't find it. I asked another employee there where are the PayPal gift cards. The person helped me look and said we don't have any. I go back up to the counter to that woman and said there are none. She says oh well that is too bad. That store may be convenient for being on the downtown mall. But! It lacks intelligence in customer service do not go in there unless if you really need to. I would avoid that CVS unless it's absolutely necessary and to go in there.

If you need emergency duck tape or hang over Gatorade, they've got it. The staff is friendly and if you can't find what your looking for they will gladly help. Tampons are in the back room, near the makeup. And if you need an emergency gift, they have gift cards and cards to stuff them in.

Convenient for downtown residents who prefer to walk to the store. It's a fairly standard affair for a pharmacy, maybe a little bigger than some other CVS's I've been too. Unfortunately, it was very hot in here the other day. I don't know if their AC was messed up or what, but it was pretty unpleasant. Looking past that, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the store was clean.

The one star rating is for the manager there (another reviewer below mentioned a rude manager with similar physical traits - his name is Marshal). I went in to return 2 hairsprays that made my hair break/fall out (my hair doesn't like hairspray but I was trying them). I did not have the receipt; I asked for store credit. Marshal refused to take it back at all because of being used and because the other one wasn't sold at this location and he said, "I can't resell these." I said, "That's a very unusual store policy for CVS. That shouldn't matter." He said, "That's the policy at my store." I asked, "Is there somewhere I can read this policy or is it something you just kinda make up as you go along?" He looked at me with a haughty half grin and responded, "That's right, it's my personal preference, goodbye." Seriously?! Personal preference?? Wow. I've never had a manager of any store be so bold as to tell me their policy was based on personal preference and I've never had any employee in Charlottesville be so rude and unaccommodating. I let him know that I will be informing his superiors that he is bestowing upon himself the role of policy-maker. Slow your role bro. Some people just have no lives and live to make other people's lives harder. And the hairspray is in the garbage. I really don't care as much about the $8 as I do about having peaceable transactions with the populace of Cville. He must be from D.C. Other than that, not really any complaints about the store. Just Marshal.

This CVS is right in the middle of pedestrian mall downtown which is convenient if you need to run in to pick up something. We visited this location twice while in Charlottesville picking up things we had forgotten. It's clean and the workers were friendly and helpful. The lines moved quickly and they always brought up more cashiers if the lines got too long.
