I was a former tenant here. I had an unpleasant experience dealing with Northwoods after I purchased a house. When I first started house hunting, I didn’t know when I was going to find one. My lease was going to expire so I played it safe and asked to extend it by 5 months. I was told my best deal was to extend my lease by 5 months by signing a lease extension at the current 5-month lease rate. The 5-month rate ended up being a $450 increase from the rate I was paying.I found a house and moved in at the beginning on November. The lease extension wasn’t going to expire until February, so I contacted the landlord to see if I could sublet or terminate the lease early. I was told that I needed to find someone that would take over my lease at my current rate as they do not allow terminations. I read the lease terms and conditions and under the “Early Termination” section, all it said was: “There are options available to you in the event that you need to end your lease early, so please contact our office for specific policies”. I called and asked what my options were since I was only told about the lease takeover. They confirmed that the takeover was my one and only option and that they were sorry that I found the word “options” to be misleading. Nowhere in the lease did it say that a lease takeover was my only option, in fact, it didn’t list any option(s).I tried looking for someone to take over my lease but nobody was willing to pay well over $2k per month for a 1-bedroom apartment. I asked if I could sublet the apartment since I couldn’t find someone to take it to drop the price. I was told no. I asked if I could pay the remainder of my lease in 1 lump sum so I didn’t have to pay for electricity and insurance each month. I was told no. So, for 5 months, I paid rent for a vacant apartment which was $200 more than my monthly mortgage payment. When I went to put in my last month’s rent, which was prorated, I was told that the payment portal would still charge me the full month’s rent and to just pay my prorated rent manually. I was told to ignore the remaining balance.5 days after the due date for the rent, I received a late payment notice saying that I still owed the remaining balance. I called the main office and was told that the email was an error, I paid the correct amount, and that I could ignore the late payment notice.10 days after the due date, I was sent an EVICTION NOTICE for failure to pay the remaining balance. I called the main office again and they apologized and said that I could ignore the eviction notice and that it was just an automated message. They said that I am still good and that they forgot to cancel it. Why they couldn’t change the amount I owed for my final month is beyond me. Thankfully the eviction notice didn’t get sent to the sheriff or credit bureaus.Due to all of the stress I endured, I simply cannot recommend Northwoods to anyone.

Tour was nice. Never given follow up on dates or pricing as promised by guide. Also the one level apartments were over priced. Very clean, beautiful area...alot of geese lol. Deliberating.

Why on earth do you need two visitor parking spots in my lot when no one ever parks there.. we don't even have every unit in our area filled and every night when I come home there's nowhere to park. Put the visitor spots in the front lot where there's tons of parking no one uses.Last time I told one of the maintenance folks about one of the many times my neighbors broke glass where I need to walk my dog, his response was "yeah I know" and still no one ever cleaned it up.I hate this place.Edit: I just saw someone get towed from the front lot where there's 50 empty spaces. That helps no one and makes y'all money. How come no one ever seems to get towed from my lot where we don't have enough parking. Even when I call the wrecker service that's listed on the signs because my neighbors are having a party. Do something useful please.

Parked at 4 seasons. Occupied 1 of over 100 visitor parking spots that sit empty on a daily basis. Maybe a total of 5 spots are occupied on a weekend. My visitor tag expired at midnight and my car was towed. Neither the apartment complex nor the towing company had any sympathy at all whatsoever ever. I was told it was $200. The locations says River road, but my car was actually at some shady fenced in lot at 1640 Seminole Trail. I waited over an hour. Multiple calls and was told every time that they’d be there in 10 minutes. The 2nd to last time I called, the excuse was that the driver had to tow another vehicle, when the guy finally arrived there was no vehicle on the tow bed. So I handed the guy my debit card and he said it’ll be $250 and I have to fill out paperwork, I was already 20 minutes late getting back to work so I left, because in the 12 phone calls I had with the towing company no one told me that it was more, and no one told me that I’d have to fill out paperwork. It says operational hours on the door that are incredibly misleading. When I spoke with the”owner “ he refused to tell me his name and told me to take it up with the better business bureau. When I attempted to look up this company on the BBB nothing showed up, so I’d assume that they’re under a parent company, or they have a different LLC. I see that 6 months ago someone named Mo made a similar comment about parking and the owner said that they were working on it. Nothing has been down, even after the person I was visiting called the owners about this issue. Also why has the tow fee gone up $70 in 6 months. Seems to me the towing company and property management team are making too much money off inconveniencing tenants visitor. Shame on you both. The horrendous excuse from the property manager was “well did you call us to say it was an emergency?” As if they would have done anything…

We lived at Northwoods for 15 months. We rented the classic 1.5 bathroom 2 bedroom townhome. During that time, we came to absolutely hate the place and couldn't wait to move out.1. Its extremely expensive for what it is: The apartments were built in the 1970s and it feels like they have not been renovated or even cleaned since. Holes in the wall are poorly patched up, the laminated floors are horrible, the carpet is horrible, the stairs are so dangerous that both my husband and I (in our 20s and 30s) fell several times coming down, the heating and cooling is so inefficient that the second bedroom was always really hot and the electric bill was always high. There is no pantry in the kitchen, there's limited cabinets and we had to buy our own microwave.2. Poorly maintained: The maintenance man tries his best to help but he has his hands tied behind his back. The apartments are barely maintained. They do their best to squeeze every last penny out of an apartment before they invest into maintenance. We had to clean our own gutters because our living room kept flooding from poorly cleaned gutters. Our tub had a giant sticker like patch on it that accumulated mold and couldn't be properly cleaned. We discovered it was hiding a series of cracks on the bottom that caused our downstairs bathroom to flood. Our drier was not properly installed, and so the exhaust was coming out into the kitchen and destroyed the cheap laminated floor until we noticed that was the problem. The downstairs ceilings had cracks and marks of water damage. The ceiling on top of our living room was actually bowing out downwards from age and likely water damage.3. Wifi: You wont be able to get actual fast internet no matter how much money you pay because the building is simply so old it doesn't support fast internet. So if you work from home, reconsider.4. Its ugly: There is very little natural light that comes into the apartments. They second bedroom does not have a light, except a small bulb in the closet. This room is always hot, there is no ventilation, and only has a small window. It feels more like a closet. Our place was simply not well taken care of, the mirrors and doorknobs were splashed with paint, the counters in the kitchen were dirty and cheap.5. Amenities: They use an app in order to allow you to access what they call amenities, including pool and gym. They will give you 1 app installation for free and then they make you pay for any additional apps you need to install, so if there are several people in your household you'll need to pay just to be able to access the amenities that are already included in your rent. Besides that, the gym is terrible. We tried using the treadmills several times but they wouldn't work or you had to restart them just to be able to use them. The dog park is also a joke. It was constantly covered in dog poop, as was the rest of the property. People don't pick up after their dogs and the dog poop stations are not cleaned often enough such that we ended up just piling dog poop on top of the trashcan because its so full.6. Parking: The place is simply not safe. They charge you for parking and force you to follow parking rules but don't provide a safe place for you to park your vehicle. We heard of cars being broken into constantly while we were there. When we signed out lease, they were advertising that we wouldn't need to pay for parking because they had plenty of it, and then two months or so before our move out date they started charging for parking and requiring stickers and threatening with towing your vehicle.Overall this place should rent for no more than $1100 for the 2 bedroom townhome. We were paying roughly $1700 for a small poorly maintained townhome that we hated. We now pay a couple hundred $ more for a bigger, much much nicer apartment.

The bathroom is outdated. Want new place without stairs and told nothing avaliable at all. I don't believe it. I feel stuck and feel I may fall as I have disabilities. Be careful and get a tour. Totally misled all for money and bonuses. Not cool. Don't be deceived. This is outdated all together.
