Salvation Army is a joke !!! When Brenda smith was there I felt like home and staff appreciated her now that this new guy their he makes u feel like your in prison and staff their do not get paid for work that has Ben assigned !! I recommend not ever staying there !!!! is it a jail or homeless shelter is the question??

SALVATION ARMY HAS TOTALLY BEEN HELPFUL IN MY TIME OF NEED!! I APPRECIATE THEM EVEN MORE FOR CALLING 911 WHEN I HAVE HAD SEIZURES ON THEIR PROPERTY! THEY HAVE FED ME AND HOUSED ME AND GAVE ME A PLACE TO WASH & KEEP CLEAN!!! I AM GRATEFUL FOR THEM. THEY COULD RECEIVE A GRANT TO LEVEL UP THEIR DORMITORY AND DINING AREA THOUGH.

A close friend of mine recently died in the bathroom here and they have been letting people in under the influence of drugs and alcohol and leaving them unattended to smoke crack, meth and shoot heroin in the bathroom and it's been going on quite sometime. Why is no one keeping a closer eye on things and trying harder to enforce their supposedly strict no alcohol or drug policies. It's not okay to have these people doing these drugs hanging out in the bathroom and being enabled to overdose and have a place inside to continue to live the same life and do the drugs and drink once they learn Salvation Army does not care like they used to and let's everyone slide so easily. Someone DIED. Please tighten up your policies and have someone keeping an eye on the bathroom especially and especially throughout the night when the most people are hanging out in there.

I have them one star because they wasn’t rude about it but the fact that this like the only shelter in Charlottesville and they don’t help families or single mothers with children like I needed a place for me and my son and they couldn’t even help instead they tried to make me go to social services like I would never expect a shelter to turn down a family in need

The first thing they will tell you is that you will be breathalyzed and drug tested daily. This is highly intrusive. I’m a sober person, but that kind of intrusiveness is beyond what my fourth amendment can handle. The way I was spoken to on the phone was like someone was punishing a child, not someone looking to extend help.

it's better than the haven at less there a bed a good shower and way less drama here for a homeless person eh it's the place to stay for sure just be sure to do what is expected of you you be just fine

The staff are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond to deliver a holistic approach to needs, interviewing and assessing needs with great follow up on resources. Unselfish and caring expecting nothing in return.

The staff are always very kind people. They feed us often, and let me add they are so much better food wise than the one in Lynchburg. Very pleased with them. If you need a decent place to stay between homes, this is a good place to start.

Sadly no room at the in.when I needed it. Staff still excellent. Kudos Miss Brenda. She works hard to accommodate. She really cares. Will never forget her. A former resident guest. This place took care of me for an extended stay while I was waiting on my inheritance check. Sally there when I needed you. Keep up the great work.So needed in Charlottesville.
