Service Dogs of Virginia (SDV) is an outstanding organization. I am a mental health professional, and have a Facility Dog placed with me. Josie, my facility dog, is exceptionally well trained and has a positive impact on people every day. I have had abundantly positive experiences with SDV. From the very moment I applied for a dog, they considered my needs and the wellfare of the dog. They are rigorous, as they want to ensure "goodness of fit". Being placed with a dog is a big undertaking, but SDV has supported me the whole way through the process....in fact, they continue to support me and Josie with ongoing consultation. The entire staff, board, and volunteers I interact with have wanted to see me and Josie be a successful team. The organization takes great care to breed, train, place, and support exceptional dogs who are placed for 1 of 5 different jobs. This is no small undertaking, and it's always clear to me that great consideration and care is taken. I'm very grateful to SDV for their incredible work and support their continued mission. Thanks so much SDV!!!!!!

My family has been truely blessed by Service Dogs of Virginia. My daughters dog Pearl, has helped her become an independent adult, go to college and just flourish! Without her medical alert dog, she didn't feel safe enough to be away from us, to do those things.I cannot thank SDoV enough, for what they have provided our family!I read negative reviews, and it hurts my heart! They are kind, compassionate and caring! There is a wait list. There is an application process. Unfortunately, there are more needs than there are Dogs. They train these exceptional animals from birth until they are two years old. They invest approximately $40,000 in every dog they place. They have to be careful with each placement.I would hate to be in their shoes and turn away anyone that has a need. I'm sure they go home with heavy hearts many days. But I promise you, SDOV is worth every penny you donate! Read the client stories....watch the graduate videos....take the time to look at the important and true information that's out there!Signed a grateful Mom

This organization offers such an important service in matching exquisitely trained dogs to people who need them. They are so careful about matching dogs to people and dog capabilities to needs. I am on the Board because I believe in them so much!

Service Dogs of Virginia has helped so many clients with disabilities over the past two decades. I have attended several graduations, and to hear their clients speak about the care these trainers put into skill sets specifically designed for each individual is incredible. This year’s graduation is virtual on Facebook Live, and if you tune in there or find it on their website after the event, you will hear these extraordinary stories and know what great work they are doing for Virginians with disabilities.

I would not recommend this company. Long story short the reviews are accurate. Save your money, I believe these are the same scammers from a few years ago.

This nonprofit is awesome. They work so hard to give the best service dog to each disabled person. They are a great charity offering so much to those in need for little or no cost to the disabled client. They educate the community and have open house demonstrations and do so much with so little. This is awesome place with excellent dogs. I can't say enough about them.

Carolyn was super nice and informative, however the director was very blunt and not friendly after she told me that my son would not qualify for a dog. I was in tears that they could not help us and Peggy just wanted to get off the phone.I understand her decision but she could have been more sympathetic.

We had a postive experience with Service Dogs of Virginia. All staff were kind, polite and very informative. Their K9s were absolutely beautiful, and very well trained!

I called to only ask a few questions. Before i could get the first question out i was immediately and rudely interrupted and was told owner training is not legal.....YET ADA says otherwise. I hate to say this but federal law overrides state. I cannot support a uneducated organization. Thats the second untrustworthy service dog organization I've come acrossed. I will be owner training. Don't let these people belittle and discourage you.

Such an amazing organization. The volunteers are wonderful and so heartfelt, and the work they are doing to pair dogs with people who need them is so special to witness.

The staff was exceptionally rude and abrasive to my wife. Would not recommend their services (or lack thereof) unless you're looking for an experience on par with a lobotomy.
