Jackie, the post master, is excellent. She deserves 10 stars. But the African American woman that delivers the mail and packages are among the absolute worst I’ve ever encountered. And before anyone says I’m just blaming it on skin color, I’m black myself. It has nothing to do with that. She is just terrible. From breaking our mailbox without telling us, marking things a delivered when they aren’t, stuffing huge fragile packages that should be put on the front porch in the mailbox to being incredibly rude. Please take a deeper look into her work ethic. It’s truly awful and a bad look for the entire office.

As a small business owner, I ship out a lot of packages. Sometimes hundreds a week. Sometimes hundreds a day. Thankfully with free pick up and online postage services, I can skip the counter but still I get to experience the hard work and dedication of the Chatham Postal Staff nearly every day.The few times I have been inside the branch, the line has moved quickly and the place was tidy. But the employees are what makes or breaks a post office and we seem to have gotten very lucky with the staff here. It is sometimes tiny little things, like coming out a second time to drop off packages that arrived late that really matter.Right now there is a baby formula shortage and last Friday we were completely out and the order we placed online had arrived to the post office branch (but late) so it would have normally been delivered the following day. For most items that would have been fine but we really needed that formula. Without knowing what it was, the awesome staff came back out to deliver the package that day. That shows the pride they take in their job.Sometimes that package is just a sweater from grandma or a case of cereal that aren't urgent but sometimes it is a car part you need to repair your car, a prescription or baby formula that is really needed. I trust the local staff with both my purchases and my shipments.Recently, one of the firms we work with has been discounting UPS Ground services below USPS' First Class Mail pricing but I still won't switch my business to UPS. No one is better for small items than USPS and the Chatham Postal Staff.
