I want to start by saying that the sales associate who helped me was very friendly and patient, which I really appreciated. However, I’m extremely disappointed with the recent changes at Home Depot regarding project loans. They've switched from using Green Sky to a company called Bread Pay, and this new system is honestly terrible.
What they don’t tell you is that Bread Pay’s system doesn’t work properly. For example, the part where you need to upload pictures of your driver’s license requires you to repeat the entire loan process multiple times. This repeatedly pulls your credit, which is frustrating. Once you're approved for a project loan, you're required to purchase all the materials in a single transaction. That might not seem like a big deal for some, but for most homeowners, it’s impractical—you only have 7 days to make that one-time purchase for the entire loan. After you use the loan once, you’ll need to reapply if you want to buy more materials at all.
Additionally, the store staff seem completely unaware of these changes—they have no training or information about Bread Pay. They had no idea about the new process, which makes the experience even more confusing. Compared to Green Sky, Bread Pay is much more cumbersome. You have to visit the store to start the application, then scan a QR code to redo the application on your phone, which defeats the purpose of going in person. Plus, you have to make multiple phone calls, repeatedly providing the same information to different representatives just to get your loan approved.
Overall, the whole process was a nightmare. I won’t be using the project loan ever with Bread Pay. With Green Sky I had up to 6 months to purchase everything and I only had to pay for the portion of the loan I used.
And as for the Home Depot credit card—don’t bother. I was pre-approved for $5,000, but after jumping through hoops to get the card, I was only offered $1,000. My credit score is high, so I expected a better offer and a smoother approval process. It was just not worth the hassle.

Christy in the blinds section didn't acknowledge me as a customer at all waiting almost 30 minutes.... Customer service.... Gentleman took a call while I'm sitting here waiting for assistance. Are there lack of workers ...he's on the phone sitting here and im looking at him. Wow where did customer service go wrong....... Now he's left the desk to go check on something I'm still sitting here he hasn't acknowledged short staffed or anything.....wow ! And the Manager he looked like oh well.....You may want to let your workers know there's a word call acknowledge someone ?

Terrible customer service, waited by return counter while some employees just hung out and after getting our credit, we went to purchased a new hot water heater and no store associate (young) seemed to want to help us load it into our truck and the employee was standing right by the loading area said they had to go load something somewhere else , but they were right there , this is the last time we shop here. Would have given 0 stars!
