I love shopping at Walmart! Plenty of items to choose from!

The rudest Walmart I’ve ever been to. If I could give it zero stars I would. The managers are rude and don’t know how to talk to customers. Most of the employees are rude and don’t know how to talk to customers. Just go up the street to the college drive Walmart. At least they have lanes open and don’t limit you to 15 items or less to self checkout.

Chesapeake Square Walmart is by far the worst we have ever shopped. We usually go to Suffolk to avoid this one, but it is close to our house so we do go there on occasion. There are always groups of employees standing around, talking or on their personal phones. If you ask for assistance you are met with a chorus of “I’m on my 15” or “I’m on lunch” or “I’m going to lunch” or “I just got off lunch and haven’t clocked in yet.” Really? There are 5 of you standing in front of me, behind a counter and not one of you is on the clock? When you do get someone to help, they are huffing and puffing as if the customer is an inconvenience. This is clearly a management issue. This is a culture within this store that is tolerated, if not encouraged. It’s worth your time to drive further to a different Walmart or to a different store altogether.

⭐ 1-Star Review
Location: Walmart – Chesapeake, Store #0
Date/Time: Thursday, June 19th at approximately 2:54 PM
Department: Customer Service / Self-Checkout
Employee: Denise (short blonde hair, glasses)
Today’s visit to the Chesapeake Walmart was beyond disappointing — it was flat-out disrespectful.
My wife and I, with our 7-day-old newborn in tow, were waiting patiently in the express self-checkout line. Denise, the associate overseeing that area, made eye contact with me several times while we stood directly in her line of sight. She said nothing — until we were literally next in line. Then, without warning, she shut the register down and told us she was closing that side.
No announcement to the others waiting. No effort to help us or communicate professionally. Just a cold, dismissive move that left us — and others — stranded after already waiting.
What made it worse was that she seemed to be selectively choosing who she wanted to assist. From my perspective, this felt like racial profiling. If Walmart corporate reviews the footage from that time, I believe a concerning pattern will become evident.
Denise was not only unhelpful — she was rude, arrogant, and unfit to represent a company that claims to value customer service. This kind of behavior should never be tolerated, especially toward young families and paying customers.
Walmart Corporate: I strongly encourage you to review the cameras from 2:54 PM, Thursday, June 19th, at Chesapeake Store #0. Denise either needs retraining or needs to be moved out of customer-facing roles altogether.
Until then, this will be my last visit to this store — and I’ll be encouraging others to do the same.

Was so excited to find Thai Constellation Monstera plants at a decent price. Though they desperately needed water, the leaves were in great shape and, after inspecting, found no evidence of pests.

My worst experience the management and workers are the worst I needed assistance in self checkout it was 15 of them in a circle that refused to help so I left everything there I'll go to food Lion it's very unprofessional and they really need customer service training

Update,
Well, the store has gone to about 80% self-checkout now. They keep redesigning the store. I don't go there very often, but when I do, I can never find anything I want.
We found everything we will looking for and my grandson and husband even had a little fun with a display, my only concern was the shortness of open registers with cashiers and those lines that were open were very long.

This store is a hit or miss kind of place. One day it could be top notch clean with the workers actually working with stocked shelves, they can also be friendly and a helpful staff. Other days the store looks like the aftermath of a black Friday sale, shelves bare, visibly dirty, workers walking around and not doing anything. if you ask them for assistance they act as if your an inconvenience. The parking lot is always full of carts to use so don't forget to grab one on your way in because there is usually none in the store. The parking lot is disgusting with litter everywhere. This place has people standing at every stop sign with signs they made begging for money, or while your trying to walk in they attempt to stop you for money, its not right... This store has a great potential, but something needs to change!

This store used to be OK. Then they installed all the self checkouts. Now lots of things are being locked behind glass doors and it takes forever to get someone to open them. Only a matter of time before it turns into another military highway store that sits in a blackhole of civility.
