There should actually be negative Stars for institutions like this. Last week one poor woman working the single drive-thru line that is open and it took 30 minutes to get through while the manager sat in her office. The office is on the corner and you can see her when you drive through. Today I arrive at 4:42 the same manager had both tellers running reports. At the same time. I sat in the Drive-Thru for 10 minutes while they finished their paperwork ignoring not only me but one customer in the lobby. Why not stagger the reports? Why not have one tell or do a report while the second takes care of the customers. Pure stupidity and horrendous customer service. But we've gotten used to that over the years new bank in my future.

My first year or two with "hometown bank" as it truly was a hometown bank both my father and grandfather held accounts with them before I, with my little beginnings of a family. Had proudly brought my banking and any financial needs or services to hometown bank. Even when moving from Roanoke to the NRV they were still true to their name and both the employees and even the bank itself so it seemed catered to the working man. Ernestly fulfilling, and wholeheartedly earning and maintaining, not the name but the tittle of "hometown bank". However after the name changed and several employees "moved on" as it were... even with the promise that was spoke to me directly of "they were still keeping things local" there has been nothing but a fleeting memory of "local" ever since the sellout. Not only did the hours chnage but so did the policies, the employees and even the support numbers. In the event that you need help on a holiday or closed day the closest support numbers are based put of Danville. If you are wondering there has never been any hometown bank in Danville....so hows that keeping it local. Who can say why such a successful campaign of providing a wholesome, strong, and supportive financial institution. True to its name in a world where none even dare try to claim such accolades. Even after the merger the stragglers of the original employees have done so much and done so well to make it a true beneficial and pleasant banking experience I do have to credit the ones who have done what they can but also point out that they can only do as those above them allow. Such a frustrating feeling of betrayal is left as the best bank managers such as Jennifer Litton and the like respectively had to jump ship and move on, albeit reluctantly. If it had stayed hometown it would be the world's truest financial institution. Such a shame they fell to corporate greed as all other banks when the last of its kind died woth its name and fell in line the day the sign that once said "Hometown Bank" was taken down.

This is a horrible bank to have an account with. They have a ton of charges. Not very helpful when you have a question or concern. The online banking doesn't have many options and updates extremely slow. So much has changed since it was Hometown Bank. I recommend banking with someone else. I will be closing my account with them.

I'm sure the people at this branch are lovely, but this bank is terrible. Their online banking system is constantly down, it isn't user friendly, and it's difficult to transfer money. They want you to come into the bank for even the easiest transactions. If you need the convenience of a local bank or a safe deposit box, I suppose they're fine, but their interest rates are terrible and I wouldn't recommend them.

Anytime there is a merger it can be a bit frustrating and requires patience. The bank experiences the same kind of headache , if not more because they have to deal with multiple unhappy people. This is a welcoming bank with a very friendly professional staff. They treat you like a person and not a number. For the person who was complaining about their account being flagged for fraud take that as a good thing. It can be a little frustrating, but a simple call to the bank usually resolves that issue. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone.

They hit my account 3 times for Insufficient funds and after that my account was still in the positive. Then I say they can't reverse the charges because they don't have the authority to do so. I am now following a lawsuit through the Commonwealth attorney against this bank for stealing money from its Customers. This financial institution is a crooked company and you should never use this bank for anything.

I do not like the bank website since Hometown has sold out to American National Bank & Trust. It's never in order and takes me forever to figure out what amounts I am missing in my checkbook. I have been with Hometown since they opened in Christiansburg on the hill next to Food Lion, it may be time for me to move on to another bank, I see a lot of changes I don't like with the new name change. Unsatisfied customer.

I have been banking with Hometown Bank at the New River location for 4 years. I initially chose the bank because of the convenient hours they offered at the time was 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. M-F and on Sat 9 a.m. to 2p.m., which worked great with my busy schedule. The first year was fine, staff was friendly and everything went smoothly. The staff does have a high turnover, I noticed. After that, it has been one problem after the other. Every time I made a big deposit, my account somehow got defrauded. The first time it happened right before Christmas and the next 2 times was every time we went on vacation, which always left us stressed out. This last time was the last time for us. We closed our account!! I would HIGHLY recommend to seek out a better bank, especially if you want to have the confidence in knowing your funds are truly safe!!

Caitlin there is always really rude there, I previously had a five star on my bank... But the rest of the staff is amazing. She just treats her job like a bore and she's better than me.

I wish I could rate by different areas. I just went there to make a deposit and realized they changed their closing time and opening time. The original times were very convenient for me since I start work at 8 all the way across the other end of town in the mornings and I will have to rush after work through all the traffic to get there before closing so yes the new times suck, I have been banking here since it opened, too much change since then that got me there in the first place. That's the reason for a low star. Otherwise the employees are great and the finance dept for house loans are outstanding. That would have been 5 stars. The hours change really disappoint me.

Extremely pleased! We needed a local bank to open savings accounts for our children! The staff is very nice and polite. They made the experience fun and on their birthdays, they sent cards with the staff's signatures. We love the bank so much, we are looking into mortgage loans (Christiansburg location). We think Jennifer Litton, Adam Armstrong and Desmond Cornette are excellent! So worth checking out! As far as opinions, one shouldn't always believe negative ones!
