“As of February of this year I have worked at Goodwill for 5 years. I am a person with autism and schizoaffective disorder. When I first started I didn't know what to expect. I was afraid there would be a lot of discrimination and judgemental people that would not want me around. But, instead I have made a whole lot of great friends. Which I consider my support system. Because I have been given a chance to to have a job and support my family and be able to make money that I can manage and save up for things I love doing such as traveling. Over the years we have had 4 bosses since I started there. The last one was good but the one we have now is tops. Before at one time we had a boss who constantly made people nervous and afraid of getting fired over little things that it made hard for people to work in peace. But, everyone is relaxed and getting along well and being able to work with without the fear. Everyone there has something unique about him where Goodwill is pretty much the only place many people can work, where they couldn't at a lot of places. So, everybody is very thankful for having a job. I am blessed to have a job at Goodwill and the people I get to work with everyday. As far I see it I will probably work there for ever or as long as we're in business. Because I can't imagine anyplace else I'd rather be other than a trips to Europe that I can finally do with my wife now that I have a great job. And we have a really good looking team, too. And we get the best looking shoppers than anywhere. I think overall it is probably the best place to be in Christiansburg, VA. I think if people can't be impressed by the merchandise at our store they can at least acknowledge the greatness our staff does to provide and make the world a better place. Especially for the ones who has given up on hope. There's no need to give up on hope when we have a place that accepts everyone no matter what they're lifestyle is. Always know there is a chance for everyone to learn there is a job for everyone. Ifyou're looking for one definitely try working with us. What can you lose? G'day mate for now.”
