“Stayed because the hotels near Radford jack their prices up any time there is a school event, and my daughter had Freshman Orientation. Right off the Highway, easy to find. VERY clean. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Front desk worker even called the room to let us know he had passed by and noticed our door wasn’t all the way shut, and he wanted us to be safe! Breakfast was pretty standard hotel fare, but well presented and the area was clean. My ONLY complaint was that the mattress, while newer and quite clean, was very firm. I had a terrible time sleeping, so I will be bringing pillows from home when we stay next for Move-In at Radford in August. So happy we chose this hotel!!”

“The Jackson Park Inn of Pulaski, Virginia, is a jewel in an unlikely setting. Pulaski was once a thriving railroad and manufacturing town in Southwest Virginia. Like many such towns in rustbelt America, Pulaski has fallen on hard economic times. The town is trying hard to stage a comeback, and I for one, wish it well. Pulaski's walkable downtown has so much potential, and even in its slightly bedraggled state, it exudes a certain charm. The Jackson Park Inn (JPI) is ideally situated to help anchor Pulaski’s revival.

I’ve stayed at the JPI three times while biking on the New River Trail (NRT), a rails-to-trails pathway and linear state park whose northern terminus (on the Dora spur trail) is at the Pulaski Train Depot (no longer a passenger station), just two blocks from the JPI.

The Inn itself resides in a creatively restored warehouse, which lends the JPI considerable charm through its high exposed-beam ceilings and brick exterior walls. Rooms are tastefully appointed and immaculately clean. Quiet too, except for the occasional freight train that rumbles by on nearby tracks. The staff is accommodating, very attentive to travelers' needs. A fairly substantial breakfast is included, served on real plates, not throwaway styrofoam. Breakfast is served in a room bathed in light, just off a quaint bar area. In the interior of each floor, there’s a lovely commons area where family and friends might want to gather for games or chatter. Outdoors is a tastefully designed lounge area for just chillin’.

In a large city, one might expect to pay twice as much for the ambience of the JPI, but room rates are quite affordable. Bottom line: I love the Jackson Park Inn and encourage travelers on I81 to detour a few miles off the interstate to enjoy Pulaski’s little gem. And for multi-day bikers on the NRT, it doesn’t get any better than a cozy night at the JPI.”

“Stayed here for one night to have an interview at the college. Front desk people were awesome! I was allowed to check out later in the morning so that I could change clothes before heading to the airport. The college is right across the street so it was super convenient.”

“Great central location, ample parking, Reception open 24/7, adequate breakfast, room a little jaded but staff were incredible and nothing was too much trouble. We’d stay here again but maybe upgrade the room.”
