’ve always had a great experience renting from Hertz at Dulles, and my recent trip was no exception.
At pick-up, MD went above and beyond to help me get set up. He patiently showed me how to use the screen and made the whole process super easy. He’s always so friendly and even remembers me from past visits — it’s those little things that make a big difference.
At drop-off, Ray was just as wonderful. He greeted me with a warm smile, made sure everything went smoothly, and even double-checked the car to ensure I didn’t leave anything behind. You can tell he genuinely cares.
Both David and Ray consistently provide exceptional service — it’s why I keep coming back to Hertz at Dulles. Highly recommend!

They gave me a truck and waited for me to get in line to exit with 10 vehicles right behind me to tell me they need to charge me $20 more each day because I have the wrong vehicle for my reservation. After explaining to them this is the one that I was given they told me you need to pay more or back out and go speak to customer service at the main desk.

Fuel charge slapped on despite having filled the tank at the gas station right next to the drop-off point. Did anyone actually look or is it policy to simply record a charge no matter what?

I was overcharged with no associated fee listed or named. Only after an hour of working with customer care were the charges finally refunded with no explanation for what happened and why I was charged extra. Terribly disappointed I have to double check all transactions through them if I decide to you them again. Which my employer has recommended I do not.

I had a very good experience with this location. I rented a car to pick up on a Sunday at 1:30pm and when I arrived there was no one in line so I was attended very quickly. The front counter lady was very nice and professional. She answered any questions/concerns I had. The car was a new 2025 Nissan Sentra in excellent conditions. When I returned the car, I followed the signs and left the car where I was instructed to leave it. Very easy, very fast. I would definitely rent a car from here again in the future.

Hurts is the absolute best. If you need a rental car often, I suggest becoming a good member. Never wait in line again. You show up and go directly to any car in the gold section and drive away. Easy peasy. Always good car selection.

Terrible. Hertz owns Thrifty which screwed me over when I arrived at the Dulles airport at 2:30 a.m. to receive a rental a reserved a week prior. I get there and they tell me that they don’t have any vehicles. That’s shitty. That’s shitty business. I even checked in through my phone a day prior and received a text that I’m all set. I never received any kind of notice that they weren’t going to have any vehicles either. Lucky Dulles has plenty of taxis or I would have been screwed. I will never use these people and I’ve decided to make sure no one ever uses them again.

Even though I filled up the tank at a Sunoco station 1 mile before returning the car, they wrote that my fuel level was 94%.!!!

I am a President Circle member of Hertz. I usually do 1 way rental. I had booked a 1 way rental. I checked in to Hertz @IAD airport location to pick up the car and noticed that the drop off location was incorrect and it was the same as pick up location. So I went inside the rental office, waited in queue for half an hour and requested the agent to update the return location. Initially the agent said system is not allowing him to change the drop off location as they are not doing 1 way rental. And then he said I need to pay additional $300 to change the drop off location. It didn’t make sense to pay additional $300 and I asked them to cancel the reservation and process the refund. Agent said they can’t process the cancellation and asked me to call Hertz customer service # to cancel the reservation.
Called the customer service which was answered by an AI Bot and I gave the details and AI bot kept saying incorrect data and after multiple requests the call got transferred to a live agent. Live agent informed that their system is showing a rental car picked up and I told him I didn’t even pick up any car. The agent put me on Hold for about 10 mins and then confirmed that he has canceled the reservation and I should get full refund in 7 days. However I did not get any email confirmation of cancellation. Asked the agent if he could send the cancellation confirmation email. He said system would not send any cancellation confirmation email and I should expect a refund in 7 business days.
To my surprise I got an email from Hertz after 30 hours that my car was returned and the eReturn was successfully completed with a detailed receipt. Receipt mentioned Car license plate and the lot # from where the car was picked up and returned . I had booked rental for only 1 day and the receipt has charges for 2 days. Attached is the confirmation email with a car rented even though I didn’t pick up any car.
I didn’t even pick up the car but Hertz created a Fake rental with fake lot # and license plate and also processed an automatic fake return. Request everyone to be careful renting with Hertz fake rentals and return receipts if you don’t pick up any car. If the service is so bad for President Elite member not sure how bad it could be for others. Hopefully someone from Hertz will read this feedback and process the refund!

Rented a Ford Mustang but received a Jeep Wrangler. You had 5 months to get the right car and didn’t. Useless.
