12/30/23 12 noon. Maria was so helpful. I can tell she really cares for animals. I was looking for a kitten to add to my home and Maria gave me a list of animal shelters further south and west to try since those since they don't get a lot of visitors to those shelters. So helpful!

Too much money 200 Dollars for just a kitten and they don't really give us a choice to just get one kitten she says we HAVE to buy two so that she can't be lonely but why do you think am adopting her? Anyways 100 dollars or more for a cat and 200 for kittens,I meen there is some people getting kittens/cats for free but over all it's a good place I just would really like it if you could put the price to at least 30-50 Dollars please ?

The Humane Society of Northern Virginia is a magnificent no kill shelter. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly just wants what is best for the animals. When my partner and I visited the shelter, she answered ever question we had, followed up with texts and recommendations for animals (regardless of where we chose to adopt from), and even stayed open late the following weekend so that we could visit our future furbaby. Moreover, this shelter goes above and beyond. They rescue animals from rural parts of the state that otherwise would remain stray or end up in kill shelters. I don’t have enough good things to say about my experience. This shelter is overflowing with kittens and puppies that need a loving home (including two of our new kitten’s siblings— two beautiful red-headed/blue-eyed sweethearts). Adopt don’t shop!

I recently had an unforgettable experience with the Humane Society of Northern Virginia, all thanks to the incredible efforts of Maria Organt. In a time of desperation and concern for a helpless cat, Maria's kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment shone like a beacon of hope. One day, I stumbled upon a cat in a sewage area within my neighborhood. Determined to help, I managed to uncover her microchip information, revealing a glimmer of hope in reuniting her with her owner. With the clock ticking toward closing time, I reached out to the Humane Society for assistance.Enter Maria Organt. From the moment I connected with her, Maria's professionalism and genuine care were palpable. Despite the late hour, Maria was extremely willing to track down the owner's information, making calls to various places in a bid to ensure the cat's safety and well-being. Her dedication to going the extra mile, even when faced with obstacles, was truly heartwarming.Despite her valiant efforts, we were unable to reach the owner or the shelter where the cat was adopted from. This is where Maria's compassion truly shone through. Rather than letting the cat's fate hang in the balance, Maria took it upon herself to ensure the feline friend, Pumpkin, found a safe haven. Her eagerness to make space and offer Pumpkin a nurturing environment until the owner could be located or a new loving home could be found was a testament to her unyielding love for animals. In a world that can often feel indifferent, Maria's actions stood as a stark reminder of the impact that a single individual can have. Her dedication to the well-being of animals, her refusal to give up in the face of adversity, and her genuine kindness toward both creatures and humans alike are qualities that deserve to be celebrated. As a grateful witness to Maria Organt's unwavering commitment, I can wholeheartedly attest to her exceptional character and her vital role at the Humane Society of Northern Virginia. Pumpkin's story serves as a testament to Maria's compassion and the countless other animals she has undoubtedly aided along the way. The Humane Society of Northern Virginia is truly fortunate to have such a remarkable and compassionate individual in their ranks.Thank you, Maria, for being a beacon of light for animals in need.

We love the newest addition to our family. Adopting him from here was a great experience. We worked with Maria, who has a wealth of information about cats. She gave us great advice about the best types of foods, cat toys, etc. It’s obvious how passionate all the workers are about the animals in their care. Highly recommend.

Here is a group of people who dedicate an enormous amount of time and love saving our furry friends. Need I say more??Recently adopted three kittens because how can you walk into a room of playful, cuddly kittens and walk out with one? All our kittens were spayed/neutered and chipped, they were up to date with their vaccines and even had their nails clipped on the way out the door. If you’ve never had a cat before they go over important ownership information (I am a former cat owner and learned new stuff). They follow up after the adoption to make sure everything good.Overall a great experience and I am in kitty heaven. Thank you so much!! We love our new family members ❤️

Very adorable little guys there, also well taken care of and the owner seems to care a lot about her tenants. However, I think she needs to make her prejudices clear as far as who she is willing to adopt to at the door. Then people won't waste their own time, and hers.

My experience with Humane Society of Northern Virginia was excellent! First class!!!We worked with Maria and her Staff. Maria is a wealth of knowledge and has the interest of these animals as top priority, and I’m telling you she knows what she’s talking about. We received so much information about interaction, food/water, toys and supplies. Even recommended a book to help, and absolutely no push or pressure to make any commitments. There is a good screening process to adopt and rightfully so; it’s kind of the reason all the animals are there in the first place.Don’t let the price scare you away. It’s a non-profit (A3P), so it goes to the massive amount of expenses they have, and… it’s a tax right off! So it comes back to you. (Save the receipt). My wife and I feel really confident with our cat. He had quite the history(which was rare with the animals currently there, which is a good thing) but we felt that we could meet his needs.Great experience. Clean and required to wash hands and wipe shoes. The kittens have their own room, and are out! It’s so good for them compared to other places where they are just caged forever until…Again, Maria and staff were awesome and we highly recommend Humane Society of Northern Virginia in Dumfries.Ed and Jenn T.

We adopted our sweet kitty from here and they were so helpful and informative with the process. We got to visit with the kitties in the Dumfries shelter and it was very difficult to choose! If you're thinking of adopting, stop by and meet their available cats from all over northern Virginia.Update: when our kitty slipped out an open door the whole team from HSNV sprang into action and helped bring her home. I couldn't be more grateful for their tireless efforts to help my kitty and all the pets that come into their care. Please check them out when you are looking for a new furry family member.
