I have been a member of XSport for more than 6 years, and I have never seen the Fairfax location in such bad condition as it is now. Since they changed the name to LA Fitness, it feels like no one cares. Many of the machines are broken and never repaired. The quality and maintenance have gone downhill, and it’s really disappointing.

The janitor really mopped the shower floors and sauna floor with nasty water and then proceeded to mop the sauna seats with the same nasty mop and water. Mind you this was at 7pm so 4 hours ahead of closing time. Be mindful because you most likely contract staph infection

They used to be a really nice gym years ago now I guess they’ve collected so much money. They just don’t care anymore. The sauna is lackluster. The steam room doesn’t work. The pool doesn’t work. The Jacuzzi doesn’t work. The bathroom is dirty. It’s overcrowded. It is just like they don’t even have any like drinks like they used to have snacks you know protein shakes now it’s just the Terrible gym.

Wish I could give zero stars. More expensive than when it was an xsport for wayyyyy less amenities. Horrible hours.

Like 25% of the equipment is constantly broken lol..no clue what the plan is for this gym but let's just say it's ass.
This gym is the product of its customers. Either they stopped caring and management followed suit or due to disrepair, the customers stopped caring. Racking weights is non-existent. You see plates lying all over the place. This is chaos.
I wonder if this place will be transformed into the better or worse (not even sure that's possible) since LA Fitness bought Xsports. Everything is either super old or barely functioning, I mean everything. This place should be burned down and rebuilt but we know that the shareholders needs are more important than the customers.
I should have stuck with 24 Hour fitness but they aren't located in all the states I visited which caused me to switch. The biggest mistake of my life. But I'm hopeful.
Also this will no longer be 24 hours as of 11/11/24.
Lastly some of these restrictions are wild..
And change the sign of the place. When I first drove up, I thought I was in the wrong spot.
3/29/25 - any upgrades they are saying will occur will likely never occur. This gym is absolutely filthy and broken. No clue why anyone would intentionally sign up here if they grew up in this area. I would be at onelife fitness if it wasn't for their one year commitment, higher monthly cost, etc. I am still debating on sucking it up and changing over to 24 Hour fitness down the line.

This gym should be condemned and shut down by the health department. Every aspect of this facility is un healthy - They don’t clean anything it smells like dog urine and armpits also 40% of the equipment is broken. I have experienced mentally ill gym members one I have witnessed use weed in the parking lot in between sets of jumping on mats 6 feet tall. This isn’t safe at all - The pool is closed permanently as it’s foaming with germs and bacteria the men’s showers don’t work and they have a bucket of soap for you dunk your hand in to use. The manners here are to leave your weights on your equipment also groups of young men in crocks or yeezy slides crowd the free weights and openly vape.
This is comically the absolute worst gym on the planet.
I would like to edit my review- after some time about 2 years I am going to say that this gym is actually good - It’s still nasty dirty but overall it’s a decent spot. It’s usually pretty empty and the regulars are respectful of equipment. A decent community of members that check in on each other. Also management has changed over and I see many improvements in hospitality.

Never use an LA Fitness. I have not had negative experiences with staff at this location, but LA Fitness policy is ridiculous. They don't want to work with the customer. They don't care about the customer's best interest. They only want money. I joined this location when it was still an XSport and after the transition to LA Fitness, I've only had negative experiences. I've been trying for months to cancel my membership (because I moved away), but they trap you to keep charging you. This is my first, and only, Google review and it is because I am so fed up with LA Fitness policy that I need to prevent anyone from joining this horrible company. Do not do it. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Unprofessional, rude.and unbelievably disrespectful. My wife stopped by just to see what kind of equipment was available and was very disappointed. Michelle has poorly represented this company.

Kinda bummed that it's been bought by LA Fitness
LA Fitness is a terrific change. Do not join. The.pool is still closed citing a permit issue. This location is worn down, dirty and broken with unresponsive uncaring staff
I tried to be positive but having g to pat more over the years and see how nasty this location is means time to cancel

Taken over by La fitness but still needs major renovations and equipment improvements. Men’s bathrooms were not clean and had a terrible order. Needs to improve

would've given zero if allowed. Pool and hot tub are closed indefinitely. Staff is unbothered - pretending to listen to music or talk to other customers when asked any questions. Feels racist the way they treat colored folks. Don't waste your money here, they have some promos running - half the equipment doesn't work, definitely don't sign up for the pool
