December 2023 by Jay Heidel
I ordered tires online on November 27th and at the time of order it was stated as 2 day delivery to the store. I set an appointment for installation for December 8th at the time of online purchase. As of December 7th, I had not received a confirmation that the tires arrived or confirming my appointment. I called the tire center and waited on hold for 15+ minutes - upon asking if my tires were there the associate informed me they were not and that I would receive a call when they arrived, and that they could not give me an estimate of delivery date. Ok no big deal, although it was advertised as 2 day delivery.Over that weekend, I received an email informing me of an appointment for installation on Monday the 11th - I did not make the appointment nor was I available. I called the tire center again, and was informed the tires were not there. On Monday the 11th, I received a call from the tire center about 30 mins after the appointment start time asking me if I was still coming. I explained I was told my tires were not there, however this associate said they were and that I could come in that evening - I said ok. Within 15 minutes, I received a call back from this same associate stating those tires were actually for another customer and that my tires were back ordered 6-8 weeks.I called another local tire shop to ask if they could get these same tires in, and they said yes no issues. I went back to my order receipt in the BJs app and found a tracking number for the tires. They were delivered to the store on November 30th. I was never informed and simply told my tires were not there. Not to mention the associate previously told me they didn’t have an ability to track the tires. They must have given them to another customer.I went to the tire center on December 19 to request a refund in full. The associate in the tire center would only state that I needed to call a phone number since I ordered them online. It’s 2023 - how can you not refund an order in store? I went to the stores customer service desk and asked for a manager, who was able to process the refund easily. In short, BJs tire department is incompetent, lacks care for the customer or any desire to problem solve, and I would not recommend. I opted to go elsewhere and pay more money for better service.

The deli at BJs absolutely suck. I went with my mother to grab some deli meats and immediately the clerk had a terrible attitude. I tried to look past it since it's the holiday season and it can be stressful. When my mother asked for peppered roast beef which they didn't have the clerk was very rude and aggressive about it. She also order Turkey and the clerk threw the package on the counter. I was extremely offended and disgusted with her customer service. I complained to a manager about her behavior. They seemed very nonchalant about it. Never received an apology. I WILL NOT BE GETTING DELI MEATS EVER AGAIN FROM BJs.

This place is not run well by Management. The tire center is especially bad. They are understaffed and the battery selection is terrible. They only have 1 of each battery in stock. They had the one I needed but wouldn't sell it to me because it was on "hold" for someone that called in a day before. Even if you can buy a battery from the tire center, you have to take the old battery 75 yards away in through the main entrance. Oh yeah, the price listed on the battery was also different from that it would ring up at the register. Don't waste your time at this place.

Ordered tires. To do so I had to find out waaay more info than I ever wanted... but OK.Set install time for 9 AM. I show up at 855. Not open yet. OK. At 915 I am still in waiting room. Guy finally comes out of the bay. He says I am not scheduled. I point to his computer screen showing ... my appointment. So he looks for my tires. He can't find them. I point out that they are right by the door. Ok.He asks me to type all my information, again, into his computer. It's now 920. We can presumably start on the tires. He tells me 90 minutes (actually just points to sign that says 90 minutes) so I walk into BJs and loiter but time my grocery purchases to be out at 1110. However car is still up on the lift. Huh? Hermaňo, I have cold food I'd like to take home! Other customers are looking at me like I am the problem. All in all BJs does have decent prices... but incredibly weak customer service. Will go up or down a star by how tires actually are.

I renewed my membership to buy a bundle of microfiber clothes, which I had purchased several times in the past 3 years. But BJs now longer carries this common cleaning item. The office supply section now focuses on children's items for the most part.I also found Dawn Power Wash to be more expensive than Walmart. However, if I had wanted to buy a karaoke machine when I was there, I would have had no problem.I am not in the demographics of target customers. Look at the neighborhood surrounding BJs on Wilson Ave.

Great prices and service. Yes they are busy, so make an appointment and make sure you know what tires you want and that you're ready to buy. Great group of service techs.

Good wholesale store that close to where I live. I would give 5 star if bj can build a bjs gas station nearby.

It is okay but nothing to write home about. I got a BJ's membership as part of an exclusive promo from their HQ to try them out. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. I have been to this location twice now and I have yet to see the benefit or savings in comparison to my favorite....Costco! The shopping experience and feel is no better than most local grocery stores around...truth be told it reminds me of a back into the day Murray's where you would find a mix of both knock-off and name brand items. The produce was poor, the deli items including the rotisserie chickens seems stale, deals are limited or not of a big savings in bulk and their in-house Wellington Farm Brand lacks in the selection of healthy items. In all though, I'm thankful to try them out with the promo. Unfortunately, I definitely will not be signing up for annual membership after the promo offer. For me, I am not seeing the benefits of doing so. Sorry, I guess I have been jaded and spoiled by the offerings of Costco as a comparison and even Sams Wholesale Club. This location and I assume other BJ''s around comes across as a second rate to even a Giant/Safeway in my opinion. At least if anything, the customer service was great and there were folks around to help you navigate/find items of interest. Overall, I rate BJ's a third between Sam's club in Laurel and my favorite: Costco in Washington DC and Arlington, VA.

If you live near a Costco, their prices and selection are always better unless BJs is having a sale.Their focus is on brand name food, cleaning products and health and beauty items. They also have seasonal items, some basic clothing, shoes and electronics. But Brand name stuff is their focus, so if you're a bargain shopper, brand name groceries are usually too expensive unless they're on sale. BJs does offer it's own generic, house brand on many staples like nuts, cheese, produce and frozen food. Those are the items I usually pick up.I struggle to justify my annual membership fee but usually renew eventually when they send a renewal offer at a deep discount. Before Aldi opened nearby, it made sense to join BJs but many basic supplies are actually cheaper at Aldi. My main gripe about BJs is that nowhere else do I feel more like a statistic than there. Their website is slow and clunky due to the extreme number of tracking cookies and ads. When you walk in to the store, someone with a clip board descends upon you to try to sell you home improvement or whatever, and the products they sell are all middle of the road stuff chosen for highest profit margin rather than quality ingredients or customer satisfaction. It just always seems so unpleasant to shop there, like you have to get psyched up mentally to deal with the unpleasantness of walking in the store where sales people start trying to sell you stuff, because we feel bad saying No to people. They have very few organic foods. That's not a genuine focus here so it's not a place where healthy families can get most of their groceries. Very few whole foods. No organic flour, rice, pasta, beans, etc. No whole wheat flour, their organic honey isn't raw honey, that sort of thing. They do have organic frozen fruit and veggies and a small selection of organic produce. Milk costs more than at most places. They're still selling sugar laden, additive rich, non organic Silk soymilk even though the customers who drink soymilk these days prefer a non sugary, organic version... I suspect there just isn't enough profit in it for BJs.Costco is a 20 minute drive from my house. Bjs is less than a mile from my house, much closer than any other grocery store. I keep the membership to shop the sales or for when a trip to Costco isn't justified but if you're a typical family and don't need a lot of brand name processed food, you probably won't save much shopping at BJs vs shopping at Aldi or Walmart considering the $50 membership fee. However you will save quite a bit over Safeway, Giant or Kroger/Harris Teeter if those are the options you're having to choose from.

Went on Tuesday earlier this week to order tires through them. They said there backed up in order and that I should order them myself and they can install them after. Just called to ask to get them installed and they saying I can’t cause I didn’t order them through them. I hate when company’s food back in there word. By the way I’m a club member and my family been a club member for years now. Very disappointed.

Most poorly managed BJ's. So bad they only have one worker/mechanic in the auto and propane. He works on cars, runs the register and has no time to fill propane tanks which is his job too. He is doing the job of 3 people so customers have to waste 20 minutes before even talking to anyone. Also they sell clothing but don't provide a changing room to see if the clothes fit.

Be careful. They sure want to check your receipt but you should scrutinize it too. I use their online coupon clipping and that seems to work well. However, while checking orders I was stopped at the door because my items were one off and something I paid for looking at the receipt online, was surrendered at the door. So I'm out $9.97 with nothing to show for it other than the online receipt that validates I wasn't a thief after all. In terms of ambiance don't bring anyone with you who has auditory issues. Overly loud music, and then competing beeping of fork lifts during customer hours. Between my daughters and I we have learned to get in and out ASAP. So my conspiracy theory for today is that self checkout is banking on something the customer does will benefit their pocket taking no responsibility that the person they have overseeing will help you in a way that benefits the customer.

It was the best experience to shop tires at bjs and get them installed there. Gentlemen at the front desk Omar was very friendly. Omar made sure to provide spectacular customer service and finished working on my vehicle tires in no time. I would definitely recommend Bj tire shop for your vehicle tire needs.

They were much better before Covid. The quality of a lot of the products has gone down. They are no longer giving out samples of food and other things like they do at Costco. The beeping sound from the trucks moving merchandise around the store is constant.
