Ordered online. Emailed them twice after 3 to 4 weeks later of no package yet and no response to my inquiry. Took my money and still no receipt of my vinyl. This was 3 months ago now.

In an ever changing world, it's such a blessing to meet folks who understand the precious value of keeping folk music traditions alive. Corbin was so friendly and knowledgeable, kindly answering all of our questions. He even opened up the vintage juke box to show us the insides! They are so dedicated, they stock cassette tapes (remember those?) because that's the only format available for some of the albums. A true gem not to be missed if you're visiting Floyd!

I'm only moved to write a Yelp review when I am just blown away, and I am blown away by County Sales. It's an old-fashioned, brick and mortar CD store (although in this case the building is covered in narrow wood shingles). It specializes in old time and bluegrass music and is located centrally in the adorable little mountain music town of Floyd, VA. The young man manning the store on the day I strolled in was very personable and knowledgeable, and (since I'm writing this post during the Covid-19 pandemic), I'll add that he was wearing his mask the entire time I shopped, (as was I). I've hardly shopped at all these past months but I was so charmed by this store, I decided to support them and stimulate the general economy. In that spirit, I bought the following CDs: The Tony Rice Unit - Manzanita, Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys - Man of Constant Sorrow, Anna & Elizabeth - free dirt, and the Shelor-Blackard Family, which I chose from the stores excellent field recording selection. Woohoo! Please support this store, either in person or online.

County Sales is a unique and wonderful Floyd County institution, keeping the Bluegrass, Old-Time and String Band Music traditions going on CD and vinyl. It's in a neat building in downtown Floyd across from the famous County Store and Dogtown Roadhouse. I've been a happy customer since 1996. If you're on a weekend drive on the Parkway, it's worth the detour.

I was a faithful customer of the original County Sales through the 80s and 90s. Back before they stopped pressing LPs, I had purchased every single LP available and if you purchased 6 LPs, you'd get a free County or Rebel LP. It was great while it lasted. Like the modern movement we are facing today, all good things are going away. I messaged asking about future County re-releases and they failed to reply. Sad that this store, like the small businesses in America have failed.

County Sales is a great place to buy your favorite Bluegrass, Gospel and old Time Mountain Music from! County Sales is also a good place to stop in and visit as you tour downtown Floyd, VA.
