EDIT - I since hired Robert to complete another project in building a patio area and drainage. On April 14, he told me the project would be done in a week. The scope changed a little, and then it was two weeks. It has now been 103 days and the project is still not done. I have had to pull teeth to get responses, and have had more than one instance where he has said he would be there on x day and never comes. Nothing but excuses. His back hurts, his guy quit, too many fireworks on fourth of July. At this point I have already removed two major parts of the project to do them myself. And he still has not been able to complete the project. AND I have paid him nearly $4000 for this project, which included those items. He took a simple idea I said I wanted and blew it up causing him to blow through money on materials, which I believe also slowed the progress essentially bc he ran out of funds bc he made it grander than I asked for without my permission. And he didn't even know how to finish it, so that's one part I told him to forget. He came back yesterday to run an electrical extension from an exterior GFI on my house to the exterior of the screened porch so I could access it from the patio. The outlet is now hanging out of the exterior wall. And he tripped the breakers and never told me. Oh and the outlet doesn't work. My posts are all different lengths. He never glued my pea gravel (one of the things I now will do myself)
It's a shame because the quality was good for the first job. I recommended him to a friend and he did a good job with her project too. But the bridge has now been set ablaze.
Robert is the best handyman/contractor I've interacted with in the Lynchburg area. He listened to my concerns, budgets, and goals and created a plan for achieving them. And when the project (flooring) became a much bigger project which requires moisture remediation, replacing the subfloor, adding a foundation vent, changing drainage systems, and painting he was professional in his recommendations and completed the entire job in less than a week over the new years holiday (just one week after providing the initial quote!!!). I will certainly be calling Robert for my future projects!

My wife and I have been using Grace Remodelers for years since we bought our home. Robert is a true professional, he is our first call for all of our handyman needs. Such as Hanging a TV, installing a new toilet, installing lighting fixtures, and painting our front porch. Whatever your home needs I'm sure Robert will be able to help and at a reasonable price.

We hired for a kitchen remodel in April of 2022, which was adding can lights in the kitchen, sanding and painting our cabinets white and adding soft close hinges and slides, installing butcher block counter tops, backsplash and new lighting. 6 weeks into the job the can lighting had been completed, nothing else. The cabinets only got done after multiple conversations and even then he damaged my island by transporting it to his shop to paint and loading it up with all of the drawers which broke the shelving inside the island. Oh, and he had my island, doors and drawers for 3 weeks before bringing them back unfinished. When he finally did bring it all back I had already decided that we were done, I just wanted to ensure that I got my island, cabinet doors and drawers back before firing him. When I did fire him he still owed me $1200 worth of work that he promised he would return to me that I never received and I had to complete the remodel myself. Nearly every time he said he was going to show up, he didn't show and would always blame his wife. Not sure if that was true or not but he did actually show up once with 2 kids because his wife was having a rough day and needed him to watch them. I didn't realize that my house was acting as a daycare for his kids but apparently I was wrong. I allowed it just to get something done out of him but it put me in an incredibly awkward position. Another time he showed up was to prime the cabinets. On this occasion he brought his father with him and he did most of the work while Robert talked on the phone. Yes, the pricing was fair, not cheap by any means, but fair. I knew he was no professional when he came by to collect a deposit just by the condition of his work truck and not because it was banged up but because the bed and cab looked more like a trash dumpster than anything else. I did not, however, expect that he would almost never show up with no communication as it seemed very clear to me that he needed the work. So, because I actually work a full time job and honor my commitments to my employer, or anyone that I make them to, it took me 6 moths to finish the remodel. Hard to believe that he's still getting work, if he is.

Robert's quality of work was excellent, and it was a reasonable price which is why this isn't a 1 star review. However, the timeline was HORRENDOUS!! What was promised as a 2 week job (with additional work added approximately a week's worth) turned into a 6 week job with delay after delay after delay (5 in total). We had to reschedule other contractors MULTIPLE times due to the delays. If you aren't pushed on timeline I would hire again, but if you are on any kind of a timeframe I wouldn't recommend.Services: Paint indoors

Update:After I posted the review things changed for the better. Robert brought extra guys, showed up and completed the job in a week and a half.I'm pleased with the outcome. Our remodeled kitchen, bathrooms, and floors throughout the home look good.Robert and his dad, who works with him, are very nice people; he's remained polite and respectful during in-person interactions.Initial review:I have been contemplating leaving this review for some time now, in hopes that our experience with Robert would change for the better...but it has not, so here is our honest review of hiring Grace Remodlers.Robert advertizes himself as a contractor, but operates like more of a small job handy-man. He said our first floor remodel was within his scope. However, he is primarily a one-man "team."Quick to collect money (thousands of dollars), painfully slow completing tasks. Before beginning he told us our job would take 2 weeks to complete, and we are now on week 6 and half of the job is still not done. Needs repeated prompting/reminders/check-ins to even show up. Often says he is coming, or on the way, or will be there at such-and such time, then fails to show. I have regretfully taken entire days off work to be home and avilable to let him in and move things around as needed, and he failed to show.He installed our brand new washer incorrectly (did not remove the 4 shipping bolts), resulting in the washer permanetly damaged after one wash. He stacked our washer and dryer without bolting them together and the dryer tumbled off the washer during the washer spin cycle. We had to have Best Buy come in to replace the washer and properly install the stacked washer and dryer. After weeks, he finally finished painting our kitchen cabinets, but drawer doors are falling off after he reinstalled them. Part of our flooring is left undone. Nothing has been completed fully, and we are going on 6 weeks for a two week job.Communication is poor/unprofessional; on numerous occasions I've asked him to call to discuss project updates and he has not returned a call. He has not shown up for the past two weeks, after promising he would show up on Monday each week. Today is Wednesday of the 3rd straight week of no-shows after he texted that he would be here ready to work on Monday.Highly frustrating experience. Will provide an update to the review once the job is completed.Services: Install flooring

I commissioned this business and the owner required a deposit. I gave the deposit and He signed a contract in June 2022 stating the work would be completed at the end of August 2022. The work had not even begun at the end of August and I requested my refund. As of the end of October 2022, he has not returned my deposit. Very undependable and untrustworthy business. I would never recommend this business.

Robert has always been so very good in taking care of our home. Recently he helped make one of our dreams come true with a total living room makeover. He and his team did an outstanding job. He really has a great eye for detail in getting things just right. Would definitely recommend him.

Robert, a veteran of our armed forces, did a great job preparing a home we owned for sale. He painted the exterior, replaced rotting front siding, replaced damaged ceiling tiles, repaired drywall and painted a room, replaced the water heater, pressure washed the deck and painted the deck and chairs. He is very reliable, friendly and easy to work with.

Robert has installed a new dishwasher (where there wasn't one before), taken out a wall + rewired the switches that used to be there, and did an entire floor demo. The floor demo and dishwasher jobs went great; everything was perfect. But he went above and beyond with the wall, doing some things that another contractor (who quoted us the same price) wouldn't do. He matched the ceiling texture PERFECTLY. It's like the wall was never there. Seriously seriously impressed. He also takes pride in his work, and it shows. He's also just an easy guy to work with and that alone is worth so much. You can also tell by the crews he hires out that he's just a sharp dude. Super smart problem solver who is up to date on modern remodeling methodology. Can't recommend him enough.

Robert and his team stained our back deck and the rails on our front porch and did a great job. It looks 100% better than it did before and they did the work quickly with good products. He is good at communicating and showing up when he says he will. Also provided the service at a fair price. I would highly recomnd Grace Remodlers!
