My wife and I stayed at Candlewood Suites, Fredericksburg, VA for 4 nights. I usually stay at a Holiday Inn Express, but Candlewood was considerably cheaper and I thought “it is part of IHG family, what could possibly go wrong?" This was my first time to stay at this Candlewood Suites, and my last. We went to our first assigned room and there was a 6ft diameter puddle on the floor and the sink was covered with debris from an overflowed waste pipe. We went back to the front desk; there he tried to assign a lesser room, we declined. Then he assigned an another suite which seemed OK. The trouble came at night. There seemed to be some kind of cleaning or construction activity with a lot of thudding, vacuums, dropping things, etc. This often went until 1 AM. I slept with ear plugs. Additionally, a fire alarm went off on our third night at 10 PM. People evacuated to the parking lot for about one hour where they were welcomed by a 35 degree temperature. I joked to my wife we should sleep in our cloths. She gave me a look that would scare most husbands. Lastly, I did have a problem getting fresh bath towels; we finally got some on our last night. I don’t reccomend you try this place.

So my husband, son, and i stayed here just a few nights ago, because unfortunately we had an issue with our hot water heater at home. During this stay, when we attempted to shower there was no hot water!! So the entire reasoning of our stay there was a complete waste! And this wasn’t a short term event.. there was no hot water the entire night!! When i told the front desk.. the lady acted clueless about the issue, and switched or room, which still once again no hot water. Also found mold on the shower curtain, and saw cockroach in bathroom as well!! I added picture’s to prove I’m not just blowing smoke it was really THIS BAD! On the morning of check out, we heard strange noises coming from bathroom, went to inspect and saw the ceiling was leaking water (alot) and the ceiling was falling into the tub! This was most awful experience at a hotel I’ve ever had and sadly i thought since paying more $$ we would have a better experience than this

Staff is amazing! Doing an extended stay and my experience has been pleasant from the beginning. Safe, clean, plenty of parking and well sized king suite.

During my stay at Candlewood Suites in 4821 Crossings Ct. Fredericksburg, VA 22407. My initial rate was a good deal that it was hard to say no too. However, at the end of my stay my card was charge a much higher rate than was I sign on my bill. The ending rate was around $300 more. I ask to speak with the manager and to no availability the manager has decline to speak with me upon this matter. I am highly upset with this level of management at this hotel. Honestly, I do not see how they can be a part of the IHG brand with all that is going on at this hotel. However, the room that I was assign too was dirty, smelled like smoke and have mold that is noticeable. In addition, I go to notify the front desk manager an Indian lady. During the conversation of my complaints, she is making racial slurs towards African American people.

I stopped around 4 am last week on Thursday and was thrilled to be able to get a room. The lady took a long time and I was charged an additional $50 for a deposit that I was informed I'd get back. I went up, went to sleep. A few hours later at about 8:30/9 I went down to get something from my car and was approached by an elderly lady with no shoes on telling me I was going into her car. I told the front desk and apparently she is a resident. Still scared me a bit. I went back to my room and checked out at about 10. The lady in the morning was much friendlier than the previous. I still haven't gotten my $50 back which I'm irritated about. All I did was sleep. It did what I needed but I'm not sure I'd stay here again. The random lady made me feel unsafe and I'm still waiting on the deposit to return to my account.

This place would be nice if there weren’t roach/ bug trappers every freaking where. We stayed there for 2 weeks bc our house was being built. Everyday the rate changed , lady was going to charge us 50 holding fee every two days. I think I’m still waiting on my holding fee . Just too much ! A lot of shady people , outside hanging about!

Perfectly fine extended-stay place. Friendly desk workers. The pantry was pretty empty though and there wasn't any food to purchase besides snack cakes, candy bars, or frozen bagels.

This place is OK if other places aren't available. The positive... the staff was hands down, super friendly and accommodating! I also appreciate that they allow pets. The middle ground... the property is clean from the perspective that we didn't find any fleas, bed bugs, roaches, etc. But it's really dirty and in need of overall renovations. I don't understand how IHG would accept a property in this condition and not think it reflects negatively on their brand as a whole or their other properties? The negative... I can't imagine the last time they did a deep cleaning on anything, even in the hotel rooms. The carpets were filthy, the bathroom fan was filthy, the business center floor, top of the room refrigerator, walls, doors, inside, outside - all of it was just filthy. And I'm not talking about a light dusting - I'm talking about baked in, grinded down filthy. The business center chair looks like someone ripped the fake leather off to make a belt for themselves and the hotel is too poor to replace it. The luggage cart wheel was falling apart and it was still that way the day after I reported it. The bathroom light fixture was eaten up with rust. The bedroom light fixture shades were yellowed and cracked from age. The drawers and cabinets were hanging off their hinges or not able to fully close. Drywall repairs were done without much thought of making it look halfway decent or professional, let alone matching the paint texture against the surrounding wall. The porcelain sink and tub were painted over with mismatched paint where the porcelain had chipped. The outside of the property had cigarette butts thrown all over the ground. And the snack shop was pretty much non-existent.With all due respect, I don't understand how people can rate this property as 5 stars and say that it's clean? As a society, have we really lowered our expectations that much? This property is barely a step up from Red Roof or Motel 8. If I had no other place to stay, I would stay here again. But I would do everything I could first to avoid it. And that's sad.

Very little in kitchen items . Ice maker in freezer didn't work . Bring your own frying pan and spatula. If ya have more then 2 people eating you will need plates, bowls and silverware .On two occasions I have found our room bot very well cleaned once my husband left his face mask in the room when we checked out. Two weeks later we come back to same room and it's still there where he left it. Second time TV not working and dirty towel behind bathroom door.Water in some rooms is great others not so great . Don't get very hot and pressure is low. Ac dont get me started. Turn to 60 it's nowhere near 60 more like 70. Won't go any lower.Rooms: Clean and spacious.

Absolute worst place to stay. Arrive with reservations, given a smoking room, not even asking if it was acceptable. Tried to move, and the poor girl working the desk couldn't get her manager to answer phone. Rooms are dirty, people with pets take them outside, don't clean up after them. Just an unpleasant experience.Rooms: Chairs in rooms are stained and dirty.

I'm from California and was here for a family emergency. The hotel is dirty. While the rooms are updated and "clean" the odors in this hotel are horrid. My room was a single queen size room but my bed was a full. I had a fridge, stovetop and a nice sized bathroom but the odors are nearly impossible to get past. My room was a non smoking room yet everything smelled of cigarette smoke. It also had the musty dank smell of a room that had water damage. Lights were broken and not in working condition. The toilet seat was literally hanging off the side and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers were empty. Walking through the halls I smelled cigarette smoke, weed, people cooking and the musty water damage smell. Carpets were filthy, dirty and stained. The little pantry in the lobby had little to choose from with empty broken fridges and warm sodas. The laundry room had 3 washers but only 1 was in working condition and 4 dryers. All the machines were very dirty and dusty. I had to clean them before use. I had washed my fathers backpack and it was stolen from the washer. The length of my stay was undetermined as we waited for dr updates on my family member. My SIL called the Hotel to extend my stay for another week. The woman took the information and told her my stay was confirmed and extended for another weeks time. When I returned to the hotel, after just 8 hours being gone, my key didn't work. I went to the lobby and asked them to replace my key card. He then notified me that I was no longer checked in and that they cleaned out my room and threw my belongings in the dumpster. They kept my fathers medication behind the counter in a bag. After the room was sorted he told me he would have someone get my stuff from the dumpster and wash my clothes. Over the next few days they would come to my room and return some of my belongings here and there. My belongings they threw in the dumpster included:My social security cardMy fathers wallet My fathers IphoneA few of my bills with my name and address ( + my SS card = potential problems ) My car keysMy shoesMy fathers medical papersMy duffel bagPhone charger and boxMy medicationAll my clothes and some of my fathers clothesMy toothbrushHairbrush, soaps and all the food I purchased to save money on eating outThey never returned my fathers iphone. Unfortunately I wasn't used to having his phone. I'd put it away immediately after arriving. I hadn't noticed it was one of the missing items until a week later. I had been trying to take inventory of all the things I'd brought and between traveling for an emergency and the chaos at the hotel I overlooked the phone. There wasn't much of an apology from hotel and they seemed really put out and inconvenienced from the whole ordeal. Never did they offer to compensate me for the food or toothbrush etc. that I'd have to replace. Such a bad experience during a stressful and sad time for me and my family. I would never return to this hotel or recommend that anyone stay here. I don't know how their rating can be so high, Forget my experience with my stuff being trashed, the smell and cleanliness alone should have this place condemned. Pretty sure the high ratings were placed. Bad service Bad experience.

Finding a pet friendly hotel that is both affordable and clean is extremely tricky! This place definitely exceeded my expectations! My room was very spacious with a very nice kitchenette and huge bathroom. The fridge had an icemaker in it and there was even a dishwasher! There were pots and pans and plates provided which is definitely a plus since the other extended-stay I stayed at in the area did not have those things ??♀️There is on-site laundry that you are able to use for free… Also a huge plus for me. Also, I didn’t use it but they have a “lending locker “for things like a toaster oven or other kitchen gadgets that would be a pain to pack with you which I thought was pretty cool. The front desk staff is super friendly and welcoming. I felt very safe at this hotel and the location was convenient. It is right by I-95, but it wasn’t too noisy in my opinion.I joined the IHG rewards club, and my stay averaged about $75 per night booked directly through their website. And they let you book with rewards points for future stays. As a travel nurse this was a game changer for me because I practically live in hotels. Can’t wait to go back next week!
