Yes, i debated giving them only 4 stars, but that wouldn't be fair just because i had to get up early for several days (8:15 for them arriving at 8:30am) :) .
It is now a couple months after the move. I prefer to wait to write so the dust can settle. We have several areas to look at - price, packing, loading, delivery and unpacking.
Price: If all you've done are inter-state moves, prepare to be shocked on your first intra-state (same state) move. The opening estimates from three movers to move from FXBG to the Virginia Beach area were as much as i paid to move from Palm Bay, FL, to FXBG (Fredericksburg). Then their rep, a gentleman named Rich, came over to take an actual physical inventory. I provided same opportunity to the other two firms; one did not respond and the other kept being so confused that i couldn't tell if they were intentionally trying to deceive me or if the rep was just really confused.
We went with J. Barber. Though their quote is firm (will not go up nor down depending on actual vs. estimated weight), i knew it was good from knowing where the other companies were coming in.
Packing: Yes, they were there promptly at 8:30am... but they were polite, friendly, cleaned up after themselves, organized and efficient. I am sorry to say that with other movers that is not always the case!
Loading: While i sat at my at-home desk, it all happened so fast it took me by surprise when they were done.
Delivery: Glad my wife was at the destination, because they were done well before i even got there. My wife raved about how polite and kind they were and willing to accommodate getting the boxes to the correct rooms. My view was that other than a few errors probably due to language issues, they were spot on.
Unpacking: As usual (We have moved seven times in the last 20 years), i am amazed at how much paper and how many boxes movers use to protect all of our belongings. We still have some cardboard to get rid of but everything arrived safe.
In the end, i'd have to say 5 stars. Thank you folks at J. Barber for a MUCH better experience than five out of the six prior moves over the last couple decades!

We have used them twice for our house moving needs. Their drivers and crew are top notch and pay attention to all of your details.
From the initial meeting and going over each specific item and any special considerations, to the delivery was the most painless process I have encountered yet.
They understand these are your valuables and memories they are handling and they treat it as such.
They bring the correct size crew and equipment based on the job and work extremely efficiently.
We would never hesitate to use them again or recommend them to family and friends. Is it worth every single penny!

If you are looking to move, this is the company for you!! Don’t waste your time looking around and getting other quotes. You can trust these movers are the best!! Beverly is so kind, caring, efficient, punctual and HONEST!!! She took great care of me from my first phone to the last. I changed my dates so many times and she never once got impatient or upset with me.
The guys who moved my items were incredible. They took great care in loading and unloading my things. They always asked where I wanted things placed and if I changed my mind they were more than accommodating to move them around.
Best pricing too!

J Barber deserves more than 5 stars. If you are moving, then this company is who you need to call. Every part of the process, from the negotiations, to the planning, preparation, pack out, and delivery was smooth and handled with the highest levels of professionalism. The movers were especially considerate of our high valued furniture, wrapping everything to avoid damage. They went above and beyond to figure out how to get some large pieces where we wanted them. I have moved many times over my career, and J Barber tops all moving companies. It's not even close. Trust me.

Our moving experience with J.Barber Moving was highly positive from start to finish. Beverly Denny, the Move Manager, was always available to answer questions prior to the move. Colby and Joe were professional and conscientious in overseeing the loading and unloading of our furniture and belongings. All furniture was wrapped, padded, and protected. Floors and stairs in our home were covered for protection. Would highly recommend them without hesitation.

I was completely pleased with J Barber. Moving is a hassle no matter how you cut it; however, J Barber made it as pleasant and smooth as possible. Beverly Denny, the Relocation Manager, was always responsive and answered all questions promptly. The movers themselves were extremely careful with the furniture. Each piece was wrapped individually and handled with care. They worked as hard a humanly possible! Definitely a five-star company.

Aaron (the moving coordinator) took my information and quickly sent over a written estimate. It was much more reasonable than other moving quotes. He kept me informed of ETA. Malcolm the mover did a wonderful job moving my *heavy* boxes from VA to NM. I really appreciate Aaron and Malcolm's effort in making my move as effortless as possible!
