Glass House is unique, with indoor seating inside an all-season greenhouse! There are other indoor seating options, a patio, and an expansive lawn and lake area to enjoy their wine (and beer coming soon). I only tried the Pinot Gris, and I enjoyed it! Balanced and not sweet, a refreshing year round white. They also allow outside food.
FYI — cell service is VERY spotty on the way out to Free Union and at Glass House (they do have wifi). I would recommend downloading an offline map or being prepared just in case.

We decided to visit a new bed and breakfast in the area and we were honestly disappointed. I stayed in the "suite amongst the stars" and it was not that. It was very dirty. When getting there the stove top and counters were dirty. The carpets had numerous stains. One shower with a curtain was covered in black mold and the non slip pad placed in there was moldy. The place needs some major upkeep. When we tried to leave one morning the handle was broken for the main door and came out of the door. There were tons of stink bugs and we even woke up with some in our hair. The sink drains were severely clogged. The floors needed to be vacuumed. I could go on. For the price we paid you can stay elsewhere in the area with much more included and most importantly clean and updated. The only saving grace was how nice Tim the innkeeper was, the breakfast, and his little dog. I did feel pressured to leave a 20% tip, both In email and on a sign put in the room, which I felt was excessive given the quality of the stay. We still left over $50 but asking for $200 was insane to us. I really hope the owners put some time and money back into this place. It is safe to say we won't be back.

We spent the weekend in the bed and breakfast. The building was clearly built to a decent standard with a viking stove and large glass windows. The upkeep was clearly lacking. Hot tub was semi functional, no lights or jets worked. It had a broken cover and some mold growing in it.
Overall we were comfortable in our room and Tim was absolutely amazing during our stay. The breakfast was top tier.
The shower curtain and shower non slip mat were moldy. There wasn't a reasonable path or lighting to get from the BnB to the winery.
Overall Tim was amazing and he was the highlight of our stay, but unfortunately it's clear there hasn't been much upkeep in the property.

Beautiful winery showcasing excellent reds and whites. Service by Jessica ( owner Jay’s daughter) in tasting room was top notch. She is very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the nuances of each wine. The 21st red blend is complex with a lasting and elegant finish. But what makes this winery so unique is the stunning tropical greenhouse building. What a cool ? ambience to enjoy their well-crafted juice and the talented musical groups.. Of the many VA wineries visited, this by far is my new favorite!

You will have the most amazing host ever when you arrive! Tim is a trained chef and is enjoying making his breakfasts the best ever. The location is a bit out of the way of anything else, so it is great to get an escape, but you will have to drive for food. However, once you bring in your food, you have a refrigerator and full access to a kitchen, so you don't need to go out.The wines are pretty good, and they do have a good view if you are just going for that. However, I recommend taking at least one night to stay just to be in the peace and quiet.

My favorite winery ever! I absolutely love the greenhouse and the scenery, and the wines were great too. My friends and I loved it when we visited. It's the place I always recommend to people who want recommendations for Charlottesville.

Gorgeous place! We loved the greenhouse, it was so nice and cool in the summer heat. There was a huge area for picnicking by the water. Theresa and Jessica were very friendly and helpful. Wine was yum and we enjoyed the live music.

Delicious wine & chocolate pairing, fine selection of charcuterie type snacks, dog friendly, and PHENOMENAL service! I can’t wait to return. The ladies working there when we visited treated us like VIP guests, the service was amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly, the warmth they exuded was authentic. The setting was gorgeous and peaceful, the garden inside was stunning & lush. I’ll be recommending to anyone visiting the area. 100% recommend getting the chocolate pairing flight. I tried that and then had some Cab Franc, taking home a bottle of Chardonnay and a box of chocolates for later. Thank you Glass House Winery!!

The wines are good but I love the tropical in-house environment. Definitely a different from most Northern Virginia wineries.
